Kevin Clash, the former puppeteer behind popular Sesame Street character Elmo, wants to clear his name. Or at least to have a trio of lawsuits against him dismissed. An attorney for Clash -- who resigned from Sesame Workshop last November amid multiple accusations that he'd had sex with underage males -- filed papers in U.S. District Court in New York on Friday, saying that he is seeking to have three lawsuits against Clash dismissed because of the statute of limitations has expired. The suits were filed by Cecil Singleton, and two other plaintiffs referred to as D.O. and S.M. Also read: Elmo Puppeteer Kevin Clash Sued by 4th Accuser Charging Underage Sex In a memo filed in court, Clash's attorney, Michael G. Berger, says that the codes that Clash is being sued under have two criteria for the statute of limitations; either the claims must be filed "six years after the right of action first accrues or in the case of a person under a legal disability, not later t...

Tom Colicchio (Chef/Restaurateur/Star Judge on “Top Chef”) appears in and executive-produced the documentary film “Finding North” by co-directors Lori Silverbush (Tom’s wife) and Kristi Jacobson. The team behind the film stopped by the Celebs.com Studio at Sundance 2012, but the film now has a new look (see the poster above), new title “A Place at the Table” new trailer, and the same important message. “A Place at the Table” tackles the issue of food insecurity in the US, bringing awareness to the fact that, for a rising populace in this country, putting a meal on the table is a true challenge. “A Place” aims to reinforce the notion that food should be a human right, a basic necessity, in a country as wealthy as the U.S., and serves also to remind the government of its responsibilities. Check out the original interview below, and the photo gallery by Scott McDermott. The film opens across all platforms on March 1, 2013. Check out the trail...

A sequel to the 2001 cult comedy hit "Super Troopers" could begin shooting as early as this year, according to Kevin Heffernan and Steve Lemme, two-fifths of the Broken Lizard comedy troupe. Broken Lizard, formed at New York's Colgate University in 1990, has written and starred in such films as "Super Troopers," "Club Dread" and "Beerfest," all of which member Jay Chandrasekhar directed. "Super Troopers," which stars the quintet as a group of lovable, degenerate cops working in Vermont near the Canadian border, grossed $23 million at the box office for Fox Searchlight. Made on a shoestring budget, it alienated many with its crude humor but endures among a young adult crowd. There have been rumors and discussion of a sequel for years, but Heffernan and Lemme told the website GuySpeed.com this week that it may happen as soon as this year. "We wrote the script and handed it in to Fox, and now we're just negotiating the time and the place and hopefully shoot it some time th...

The General Accountability Office on Thursday urged the Federal Communications Commission to revise standards for disclosing TV product sponsorships whether for product placement, video news releases or political advertising. Pointing to one FCC guidance citing how broadcasters should treat the use of "expensive kinescope prints" provided by sponsors in putting together a news story, the GAO said the current standards are stuck in a time warp. Changing technologies and changing marketing practices as causing most of the need for the new standards, the GAO said. "FCC guidance for the sponsorship identification requirements has not been updated in nearly 50 years," the GAO said in its 35-page report. It suggested that while the FCC last revised its rules in 1992, the related guidance provides little useful information. The report was requested in January by House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and Rep. Henry Waxman, D-Calif. They questioned whether ...

Visual-effects workers have already taken to the streets outside the Oscars to protest the layoffs and bankruptcies roiling their industry. Now they're taking their message to Facebook and Twitter in a series of coordinated protests. To show their solidarity, they are plastering their social media pages with blank green screens. It's a demonstration of what effects-heavy films would look like if there were no longer artists and designers around to create elaborate digital worlds and jaw-dropping action sequences. The color green is not an arbitrary choice. Films like "Life of Pi" and "Avatar" were largely shot against a green screen, with designers creating the backdrops in post-production. "The green squares is an example of both solidarity and the combustion to be had when a very creative group is allowed to create," Dave Rand, a visual effects artist at Rhythm & Hues and one of the organizers of the Oscars protest, told TheWrap. (PCM) The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited the National Portrait Gallery on Friday for the unveiling of Kate’s first official portrait. The painting was done by award-winning artist Paul Emsley. He painted the Duchess against a black background with her hair framing her face and a closed mouth smile. Emsley said Kate wanted “to convey her natural self as opposed to her official self.” Kate sat for Emsley twice, once in May and once in June. It took him 3 1/2 months to paint the portrait from photos he took of the Duchess. “I thought it was brilliant,” Kate said of the painting. William liked the portrait as well saying, “It’s absolutely beautiful.” The royal couple was pleased with the painting, but it is receiving some not so positive critiques from the public. (PCM) From our friends at Celebuzz.com: Lance Bass is calling Chris Brown out — about a certain word the R&B star should toss from his vernacular. After a history of the letting the word “f**got” fly, whether it be in his hit “Look At Me Now” or an alleged attack on a fan, Brown has again come under fire for the homophobic slur. In the wake of Brown’s brawl with hip-hop artist Frank Ocean in late January, Ocean — who came out in late July — revealed to investigators that he was called the “f” word by a member of Breezy’s crew during the fray. And that simply doesn’t sit well with the openly gay Bass. “Calling people faggot and that stuff, I mean, he may not even mean what he means, but it’s a derogatory term that people throw out there and without even knowing why they are saying it,” Bass told Celebuzz. “But when it comes to Frank Ocean and knowing that he’s … very out … it was definitely meant to hurt him. It’s never good to throw those wor...
