Electrophoresis, (there are some great videos on how to pour, run and load your gel) Ion exchange chromatography, gel filtration, lots of centrifuging, lots of making up buffers and a little bit of cell culture. I've also been helping the technician with calibrating pipettes and other little jobs. I was really nervous about being in the lab but I'm loving every minute so far. I found learning about the techniques in lectures really dull but actually doing it makes it all click into place. It's not dull at all. - Roisin Thomas

Hi Jaz. Did you enjoy your first day? I'm so jealous that you get a swipe card. The lady in MSB wouldn't let me have one because she said I need to be supervised at all times. I felt about 2 inches tall (which to be fair is not far wrong) ;) - Roisin Thomas

Oh no! That's not fair! You still need to use the bridge to get to the HW building! Yeah, it was good, very long and am now very very tired. It was mainly watching things and making notes today, so was a bit dry on the practical side, but still really good :) all of Tim Harrison's lectures are now clicking into place :).
