Your positive review of Swedish healthcare seems to ignore the fact that you didn't get treated for your illness because the system was prioritizing certain types of people over others. If you believe in a socialized approach, shouldn't everyone have access to all available treatment?

To prioritize someone based on medical necessity is, in my opinion, justified AND with the greater good in mind. My illness wasn't life-threatening and didn't require treatment, so I don't believe I should've received treatment for it. Under a less-sufficient plan, a pregnant woman would've gotten turned away before me because she didn't have the correct bureaucratic small print or wasn't as profitable for an insurance company as I was.

The flu is the flu. It's a common illness that hundreds of thousands get each year with a very high survival rate that, like every other illness, is over medicated, particularly for otherwise healthy people. As far as I'm concerned, only the people that need to medicated for the reasons of survival for it should be medicated for it.

Yep - and yet we keep electing the same people from the same parties...tacitly agreeing with and encouraging them to continue screwing things up for us. The biggest problem with democracy is that the idiots will always outnumber the smart people.

I randomly find myself humming this song sometimes. I've also been known to be sitting somewhere and say "go go gadget arm" in hopes that it will extend and get me the thing I need. It hasn't happened yet though. :(
