Happened to me once. Wasn't as severe and it was ok after a week or so. Only reason I noticed was I couldn't tightly shut my eye when washing my hair so water kept getting in. Then noticed left side of my mouth wouldn't move when I smiled. Really a rather freaky experience. - ronin from Bookmarklet

No, I was an idiot and didn't bother having it checked out. I figured if it lasted for over a week I'd go see a doc but after a week it was already getting better. My guess was most likely viral infection. - ronin
i can imagine the stress this would cause in the days before modern medicine. People probably thought you had become possessed by a demon. If she had wanted to work, perhaps they should have let her for a day or so, to help bring awareness to the viewing audience and tell them the differences between a stroke and Bell's Palsy. - Casey Madison
