Sync iPhone, iPod with files, folders, photos, music from Mac or PC - SugarSync
August 28 at 3:21 am - via Bookmarklet - Link
Excellent! Syncing now to get my 45-day trial going.... - Grey Drane
Grrrr!!! Just lost 2 days and about 6GB of sync'ed files! Just in the cloud, fortunately, and not from my actual hard drive, but still.... Had a problem with Parallels bringing my system to a crawl and crashing, and when I managed to restore things to normal (by force-quitting Parallels), I watched as ALL my files disappeared from SugarSync. Pondering now whether to give it another go or just wait for a more stable version. - Grey Drane
what are people using sugarsync for? I signed up for a trial back in April and thought it was cool but didn't really have much use for it. Care to share? - Jon West
Is this better than MobileMe? - martinmedia
AFAIK there's no way to automatically sync files to iDisk on MobileMe, which is perhaps the main difference. There's also no iPhone app for accessing your iDisk -- or for Back to My Mac (again AFAIK) -- so you have to use Safari and a sort of "back door" by going to the old idisk.mac.com/username address and not me.com. But yeah, you'd think there'd be a way to use your MobileMe account to do essentially the same thing as SugarSync, but there apparently isn't... yet. - Grey Drane
SugarSync seems to work really well for me...and the iPhone app to access my entire hard drive remotely is amazing...I just un-installed Mozy and DropBox...SugarSync is replacing both - PF Thaler

iRinger creates free ringtones for your iPhone from virtually any music or video file you own. Even YouTube videos! iRinger exports ringtones to iTunes, so there is no need to "jailbreak" your iPhone. You will be creating ringtones in seconds. It's that simple. - Baard Overgaard Hansen
why would you need to jailbreak to create custom ringtones? Just use garage band, QuickTime or some other audio app that export in the correct format. - Jon West
are there any good apps for Windows to convert ring tones? - Baard Overgaard Hansen

"So you have your 2.0 iPhone and you can install thousands of apps from AppStore. What’s all this commotion about jailbreaking? Why would you need to jailbreak? What does it offer? In this post, I will cite some of the most compelling reasons to jailbreak your iPhone. I will continually update this post as changes occur." - Sambler via Bookmarklet

can i jailbreak an ipod touch? would there be any good reason to? - Sarah Perez
Hmms Sarah I think you can. - Corvida
biggest reasons I jailbroke: streaming video apps, access to the filesystem and ssh. All of these will probably be offered legit in a matter of time. - Jon West

I'm going to assume area codes refer to phone numbers, if anyone is after zip codes then there's a free app (ZIPcodes) in the App Store that lists a lot of countries and their zip codes. - Andrew Trinh

I did the speed test (http://testmyiphone.com) in downtown Toronto. On 3G, I got 2421 Kbps download and 164 Kbps upload pretty consistently. On EDGE, I got 161 Kbps download and 56 Kbps upload. I'm surprised EDGE was that slow. - Chantal

Can someone please post a link. I searched for BeeJive in the store, but I can't find it. - scott willeke
It's not available yet. I think Baard had an alpha or beta version of the software. However it is a web app too you know and available on the blackberry and winmobile. http://www.beejive.com/ - Corvida

Mine takes at least 5 hours each time so I just cancel it every time. Seriously, 2 updates already and still no fix? How glaring of a problem can you get? - Grant Gochnauer

This might be helpful - at least for a while - as I'm not advocating disabling backups in general - http://gizmodo.com/5029121/how... - Bo Stern
A few minutes, maybe between 5 and 10 minutes at the most. - Corvida
Mine syncs in just a minute or two max. sometimes almost instantly - Charles L
I didn't watch the video, but since 2.0 I've never actually managed to complete a back-up. I get bored after an hour, so I always cancel it. - Fox Tucker
Mine takes at least thirty minutes and I have only 24 apps. I expect to have 24 more in a couple months :) - scott willeke
Yeah, strange. I've got nearly 60 apps on my iPhone 3G (although I'll be deleting some when I decide if I ever use them...) and backups aren't much of a problem. Occasionally, I'll get a slow one, but it never takes more than 15-20 minutes (give or take) and is usually no more than 5 or so. - Grey Drane
Charles how many apps do you have installed on your iPhone? - Corvida
And might space used/free have anything to do with it? Or the total amount of storage space? I've got the 16GB version with about 10GB occupied. Maybe things slow as you run out of free space? FWIW - Grey Drane
I don't have many apps right now. Seems like when I install too many I get that bug where I can't run any. The long backups seem to mainly be a problem of adding or changing too many programs. Just do the backup everynight. If you let it sync often it's pretty fast. - Charles L

same as "dial zero" but dial zero is free - Michael J Cohen
thanks, Michael. I did not know that :) - Baard Overgaard Hansen
here is the link for dial zero: http://phobos.apple.com/WebObj... - Michael J Cohen
actualy ok I'm mistaken, dial zero doesn't use a backend service, it just explains to you how to get to the operator. regardless I don't think I'd pay for this given how rarely I talk to automated systems :) - Michael J Cohen
