... and a watch is more useful than an 8 ball - Eddie Awad
Perhaps not. A watch may be considered retro by some people, who just get the time from their phones. 40+ people like me would like it, though. - Ontario Emperor
i agree i have not had a watch in my hand since i got my first cell phone in 1996 - Fuad Arshad

"Maverick Larry Ellison was criticized for turning Oracle into a conglomerate, but his plan worked beautifully. So why isn't the stock higher?" - Eddie Awad via Bookmarklet
From the article: "THERE IS ALSO A GROUP OF growth investors, many of them momentum managers, who are still obsessed with seeing explosive revenue growth at all costs, turning a blind eye to profit-margin expansion and cash-flow generation." I've learned over the years that good performance by a company isn't necessarily enough to increase the stock price, and that bad performance doesn't necessarily decrease the stock price. The market has a momentum of its own. - Ontario Emperor
Since I'm focused on the database end of Oracle, I don't have any first-hand knowledge of how the acquisitions are going. But the article states: "In its attempt to block Oracle's hostile takeover, PeopleSoft executives insisted that Oracle would let their products rot, provide lousy service and engage in price gouging because of less competition. But that simply hasn't happened....The PeopleSoft customer renewal rate of 96% is higher under Oracle than before the merger...." - Ontario Emperor

"Aside from The Mad Ballmer it seems all my old targets have gone to ground. You hardly hear a peep out of Larry Ellison these days, though Oracle's appetite for acquisition hasn't waned. Darl McBride seems to have crawled back under a rock, with only SCO's delusions of patent grandeur to keep him warm. Steve Jobs is hanging tough, of course, but did you see how scrawny he looked at the last keynote? It seems almost unfair to pick on him in his wizened state. And isn't Carly Fiorina on The View with Whoopi Goldberg and that ditzy blonde chick?" - Ontario Emperor
