SciFi/Fantasy novels
A room to talk about sf novels - where sf means speculative fiction -- science fiction, fantasy, magic realism, you know. The lot of it.

_Dust_ by Elizabeth Bear. I'm reading a romance trilogy my Mum pawned off on me right now and then I have Anne Bishop's _Sebastian_ next in queue. - Kirasha
Was not a huge fan of The Sun, The Moon, and the Stars, myself. It was "okay". I just finished Asaro's The Charmed Sphere -- interesting world, bland characters, iffy plot. Still plan on trying the rest of the series, though. - Alix Whitmire

My friend and I will be participating in the Day of Blogs event on Saturday, July 26, and I thought I would extend an invitation to members of this group to join the discussion. This year we will be discussing various subgenres of Fantasy and Science Fiction. It will mostly be done as a sort of introduction and overview, covering everything from books to movies to art, as the event draws a widely diverse group of followers. But, we would love for anyone with an opinion or recommendations to drop by and add your thoughts and comments to the topics as we go. Comments on the blog are being handled via Disqus and the feed will be coming through FriendFeed as well, so you can all follow along here if you like. :-D - Kirasha

Me too. Love em. Great for those times when you just want to disengage the brain and escape. - Kevin Riggins

My library only has the last four books, starting from Dragon, think it's a decent place to start or do I need to acquire the first and go from there? You think? - Snay Trivedi
Snay, personally I really like a lot of the earlier books - you get a better sense of where everything is coming from and who the characters are. If you have the option to read them, I'd start from the beginning, but Dragon's not bad. :) - felix

That's a really fun book - Ghost Brigades is next, I liked it also although it didn't live up to the first. Scalzi's blog is also reasonably kick ass. :) http://www.scalzi.com/whatever... - felix
