"My sense is that the initial launch of Business Exchange will only be the beginning of great things to come. When “the people behind the media” are open, honest and sincere you know the foundation for a great community is being built by people who value relationships and not just technology." - Jay Deragon via Bookmarklet

"Blogging is a labor of love for a subject matter, a developing market trend or a passion for the possibilities created by new phenomena. When a blogger shares their perspective on such topics and others what to hear it, whether they agree or not, it demonstrates respect for the time and effort it took to share." - Jay Deragon via Bookmarklet

"Do you think business has a human side? In progressive organizations survival and profit are seen to be subservient to relationships, the human side. Jon Maloney writes: “In the patently dysfunctional, criminal enterprise, monstrous govt, and overreaching orgs like Enron, Arthur Andersen, Soviet Union, statism, UN, etc. ad nauseum, the reverse is manifest, e.g., survival trumps relationships. It is why businesses fail. “ Business Socialutions require you to act, speak and relate as a human, not as a business." - Jay Deragon via Bookmarklet

"Organizations and individual’s relevance will now be ranked not only by traffic but by substance to the markets they serve. The game has changed and you will now be ranked on the value you add, the amount of the value and the frequency in which you deliver value to your markets. In other words the network of relations you maintain will have to be more than satisfied with the value your bringing to said networks. Otherwise you may loose your rank whether you’re a business or an individual. The stakes just went up several notches. Get it?" - Jay Deragon via Bookmarklet

"The mindset of marketers views the social web as a place to create buzz from viral marketing. The mindset of the people is that the social web is a place to converse, connect and share their own media. And marketers wonder why click through rates from on line advertising has gone down." - Jay Deragon via Bookmarklet

"Video consumes more network resources than any other media distributed on the Web. Even poor-quality video from YouTube eats up more bandwidth than e-mail, music downloading, and voice over IP services. And when you throw full-length high-definition video into the mix, you're talking about even more bandwidth. Depending on the compression used, a single HD video stream can eat up 20 megabits per second worth of bandwidth." - Jay Deragon via Bookmarklet

"One of the things that is so appealing about CASL is the way that it gets so many things right about virtual worlds. It insists, correctly, that human experience is always mediated by culture and therefore our experience is always ‘virtual’." - joneilortiz

"Most people take other people at their word. In business a persons word is critical to the interactive processes required to reach a result. If a supplier or employee does not fulfill their word or stated obligation things can be delayed and delayed actions set off a chain reaction of more delays, defects and disappointments internally and externally." - Jay Deragon via Bookmarklet

"In a deal eclipsing even AT&T's purchase of cable giant Tele-Communications Inc., Philadelphia-based Comcast sealed a $60 billion agreement to buy MediaOne. The combination will create the second largest cable operator, with $8 billion in annual revenue and 11 million subscribers. Comcast also gets MediaOne's 25 percent stake in Time Warner's HBO and Warner Bros. studio, to add to its majority stake in the QVC home-shopping channel and minor holding in E! Entertainment. Media analyst Jessica Reif-Cohen of Merrill Lynch describes the move as "a transforming deal for Comcast" that "vaults the company into the major, major leagues" alongside TCI and Time Warner, the biggest operator." - Jay Deragon via Bookmarklet

"A lot of people can tell you how a technology works and how social media can benefit your business. However, few can tell you the why and what works for your business unless they can share what they have learned from experience and remain current as social media platforms, tools, and technology evolve on a daily basis. Before hiring a consultant ask them a few questions:" - Jay Deragon via Bookmarklet

"Customer service problems are reflective of a poorly designed “system and related processes that create customer interaction”. The “concurrent improvement for all business problems” means the end of management whack-a-mole. The relationship between a problem and how it is resolved is a problem in thinking." - Jay Deragon via Bookmarklet

"In the old world companies would run customer surveys to find out temperaments, preferences and what’s needed to improve. Many times these surveys were default in their design and the methods of analysis. Sometimes misleading the data really didn’t tell the whole story." - Jay Deragon via Bookmarklet

Here's a question for smarter minds than mine: If resource diversion has a cost...aren't we paying a huge price for every minute and dollar spent on activites that do not lead to ideas and actions that bring peace, green-living, and health to the world? - Iain Macadair via Bookmarklet

"An employee of the Internet Broadcasting Services was fired for posting news of Tim Russert’s death to Wikipedia before NBC had officially announced it, today’s New York Times reports. NBC held off on the announcement for two hours, to reach Russert’s family before the news spread. But news in the Internet era just doesn’t keep that long." - Jay Deragon via Bookmarklet

"The opportunities for using social media to accelerate problem solving are ripe. The driving issues are whether business leaders get it and if they do will they remove the barriers that restraint Socialutions. The barriers are many as are the opportunities for improvement. Remove the barriers and you can seize the opportunities. Pursue the opportunities without removing the barriers and you create more problems to be solved." - Jay Deragon via Bookmarklet
