"They have been around forever, but have you really ever implemented Application Roles in SQL Server? For that matter, do you really know what they are and how to use them? In this short tip, I hope to explain just that." - Eric @ CS Techcast via Bookmarklet

"SQL Server 2008 provides a feature, which, in my opinion, has been far overdue -- backup compression. For too long, if you wanted the benefit of compressed backups, you had to look at a third-party tool. Now, backup compression is built right into SQL Server 2008, and what's even better is that it's easy to use." - Eric @ CS Techcast via Bookmarklet

“Someone help me out here. I'm having a debate with a coworker and he states that doing a fdisk prior to reinstalling the OS does a better format than simply running XP's installer and deleting the existing partitions and performing a full format there. Is this true?”
August 11 at 1:04 pm - Link
fdisk is a partitioning tool, their is no formatting involved. Whether you use fdisk to create a partition or XP's installer, it doesn't have anything to do with formatting. http://linux.die.net/man/8/fdi... - Adnan

Doesn't work in my shop. We use both process and hash blocking. Works for 99.999 percent of users. Others who might be trying to circumvent policy for malicious reasons will find them selves staring at a compliance officer. - Greg
