Tonight we recorded a show all about online magazines and ezines. do you have specific software that you recommend to distribute your newsletter? We talked about feedjournal.com, Aweber.com, ConstantContact.com and 1Shoppingcart.com - but perhaps you use something else? Let our listeners know what you find is a great tool and we'll give you a shout out on next weeks show. - Krishna De
And if you do have a newsletter, why not share here a few lines about what your newsletter is and where people can subscribe - either leave a message here or send us a short audio which we'll add to next weeks show. - Krishna De
Haven't been able to listen to the show yet (My itunes is poorly and it keeps shutting down on me!!) but I am a big fan of ezines, so much so that I set up a blog HowtodoEmailNewsletters.com where I share my personal experience of using email newsletters. I love Constant Contact but it falls down as it doesnt do autoresponders. iContact is another one that I recommend - havent used it personally but know lots of people who have set up an account and love using it. Both iContact & Aweber have funky blog syndication options now so you can set up an email newsletter to go out once a week with links to all your blog postings - all automatic, dont have to even think about it, just focus on writing your blog. Nifty :) - Karen Skidmore
I've been using VerticalResponse.com for 3 years. It's a pay-as-you-go service where you buy credits as needed & no monthly subscription. I'd recommend it for small lists or if you just want to give ezines a try. The downside is that, now I've decided to move to Aweber, I may well lose quite a few subscribers because of the 'verification' process. I should have moved sooner! My ezine is 'Competitive Advantage' - issued every two weeks for small businesses. Subscribe at http://www.frontline-results.c... - Louise Barnes-Johnston
Karen - thanks for posting about icontact.com - that's so funny as I only came across it this week when I interviewed my expert for my Blog Talk Radio show and he happens to be the corporate comms director for them. They are definately a great option if you have a small list, though if your list gets to 10,000 then there are less expensive options - Krishna De
Louise - thanks for sharing your experience. Yes that's why I deliberately chose a service provider who would grow and flex with me over time as there is always a risk of losing some people when you move systems. However doing a double opt in is good practice and people who value your content will click through - Krishna De

Ladies, I just finished listening to show 52. Interestingly I did a blog post just yesterday on password security (http://www.tacony.com/myob). I really like Anna's idea for creating memorable passwords. Personally I use MS Excel to store five pages worth of logins and pws, not a very secure system. It's also not very convenient when I don't have the notebook with me. I'm going to start implementing the "Farmery PW System" ASAP, Thanks for the great podcast. - Mike Buckley
Mike just checked out your thoughts. My system has to be simple because I am simple...in the nicest possible way :) I started like you did with loads of lists! Key is like you say, remember the level of security that you need....I keep it simple when the risk is negligible and then complicate when the risk is high. Glad that you followed my system as I was editing I wondered if people would be able to follow it! - Anna Farmery
Anna, Trust me nobody's simpler than I am. I have to make lists to remember where I put my lists. Your explanation was perfect. - Mike Buckley

Following on from last week's show about FriendFeed, in case you weren't aware you can add a bookmarklet to share what you find on the web to FriendFeed - if you use IE you'll need to add it to your favourites. With Firefox you can drag to bookmarklet to your browser. This post includes a video from the FriendFeed team on how to do this. - Krishna De via Bookmarklet

I've just written a post requesting input into an online survey about social connecting in business. The survey is being conducted by Jon Ingham, an avid listener of the show - you can see his profile here on FF too. I know Jon would appreciate your input and he and I are going to record a podcast once the survey is complete and the results analysed. Thanks for your assistance. - Krishna De

I title my podcast like this: #20 Brain Science Podcast: The Female Brain. The reason I put my podcast name in the episode title is that if you are using smart playlists on your iPod or iPhone the episode title is all that you see. This means that currently I can't tell if I have an episode of the Podcast Sisters in my smart playlist unless I click on the episode. I wish you would put Podcast Sisters in your episode title. - Ginger Campbell, MD
Your wish is our command! It will have to be next week but I will try and remember to do it...always happy to help! Anna - Anna Farmery

One of our listeners Will Knott asked a question about how we title our audio files for the Podcast Sisters. Anna explained that as she was the first to create the initial shows she had used show numbers so people could then go back to find them. But what would you recommend? How would you like us to title our files especially if you are downloading them rather than looking at them in your iPod? You can find Will, a prolific networker and self confessed Geek at http://willknott.ie - Krishna De

In the show we talked about Blubrry.com and Libsyn.com - but which other ones do you recommend for someone starting out podcasting? - Krishna De
I also used Audioacrobat.com when I first started, but have moved to self hosting when the amount of downloads became excessive and I exceed my bandwidth each month which meant that the costs were increasing. They also offer free weekly training sessions. I still use the service for some functions - but just not for hosting my audio files. - Krishna De
