The first execution in Louisiana in 8 years will take place today. I'll be spending the day in court with Manuel Ortiz, who has spent 16 years on death row for a crime he didn't commit. I'm glad I'll be with him on this hard day.

LPO played Tchaikovsky Pathetique and William Schuman Violin Concerto tonight. Loved 1st movement of Schuman; 2nd not quite so inspiring. Pathetique is just plain magnificent.
