Ross: that one was for you! - Robert Scoble
I'd love to know when noreply and donotreply goes away from Facebook notification emails. - Jay Cuthrell
Mochiweb (Erlang web framework) has some pretty easy to use support for long-polling too. Use it at http://replies.twitterfall.com for the streaming API there. I think Facebook use it for chat? (guess) - Jalada
Agreed Steve.......This is now officially WAY over my head.... ;-) - Mike Kelly
So, Bret... any plans for a near-term Tornado meetup? - Ken Sheppardson
Has there been any discussion on any top line scaling metrics they are shooting for now? i.e. transcations per second, etc. - Jay Cuthrell

Mike: I saw it on one of the Digg guys' twitter accounts. I'll try to find some details. - Robert Scoble
Rob, thanks for saving me the time! :-) - Robert Scoble
BTW, Brett's saying it wrong - it's not "the Facebook Platform". It's "Facebook Platform". - Jesse Stay
reading that too! - Susan Beebe
His Colleagues would correct him on that :-) - Jesse Stay
Jesse: on what? - Robert Scoble
Robert, on pronunciation of Facebook platform - there's no "the" - Jesse Stay
exactly - Jay Cuthrell
Ahh. - Robert Scoble
They're very picky about that - it's "Facebook Platform" and not "The Facebook Platform". #littlethings :-) - Jesse Stay
Any questions for Bret? - Robert Scoble
The same "Rackspace Cloud" vs "The Rackspace Cloud" argument :) - Rob La Gesse
Yes, they definitely can. - Jalada
We're using Pubsubhubbub at http://rssfall.com but it's trivial to add rssCloud support and we're going to. - Jalada

And when will that work with the API? - Jesse Stay
Q: What impact will today's release of @Mentions on Facebook have on their infrastructure, performance? - Susan Beebe
Listening to this is so very interesting if you remember things like "ATG Dynamo" and the personalization wave of the .com days - Jay Cuthrell

thanks rob and rob! - bear (aka Mike Taylor)
*boom* moment is when the homepages change - Jay Cuthrell
Jesse - great question! - Susan Beebe
Will friendfeed keep using their mysql blob store system or will they move to something more native to the FB platform? - Ian Kallen
arjo: I will try to get to that. - Robert Scoble
Facebook supports activitystrea.ms already - Jesse Stay
Ian: I think the answer is clear that the future is Cassandra and other systems built to deal with 300-500 million users. - Robert Scoble
De jure versus De facto? :P - Jalada
that's why at the IETF they learned the hard way that implementation trumps a lone spec - bear (aka Mike Taylor)

More Pubsubhubbub feedback (Scripting News). http://www.scripting.com/stories...
Thanks for writing this. Just want to respond to clarify the differences between SUP and Pubsubhubub, as they serve two different purposes, and indeed could be used together. SUP publishes an aggregated list of changed resources, which clients can poll to save the overhead of polling individual resources directly. Whereas Pubsubhubub uses a push model to ping an aggregator/hub directly. Sites like FriendFeed already support both, and we're discussing how to use SUP at Google. - DeWitt Clinton
If everything built on what was already there that would all make a lot more sense to a whole lot more people. - Dave Winer

Wondering if anyone has done research on how twitter/friendfeed commentary is affecting blog comment counts. Need tool to link the two.
My blog comments haven't gone down. My blog posting, on the other hand, has definitely suffered because of Twitter and friendfeed. - Robert Scoble
I @replied this on Twitter and FF didn't see the relationship. Would love to see that bridge. - Dave Ferrick
The time i spend twittering would have been spent blogging. However as mobile usage grows, the mobile will become the preferred twitter device and we will get back to using our computers for blogging or work. - Steve Plunkett
@rizzn & I talked about ff, disqus comments last night, think should flow like a two way street- he has some interesting stats - michael sean wright
I've never maintained a blog regularly for any length of time - but I'll spend hours Friendfeeding and Facebooking. And I notice I'm getting a lot noisier here on ff. - MaryB, BrandingBroadOfFF
There are tools to bring FF discussion back to a blog. I think though, the more important question is, what is wrong with fragmented conversations? Paul Buchheit is right.. Discussions happen. Whether it's on friendfeed or around a kitchen table or on the original blog, the point is that they are happening. Eventually, us who converse can't help but return to you, the source, for things to talk about. - Phil G from BuddyFeed
Speaking just from personal experience, the availability of FF & tools like Disqus is making me much more likely to comment on a blog. And also of note, both tools make me much more likely to see a blog (because the link shows up in my stream from a trusted, respected source) - guruvan (Rob Nelson)
This is Allen Stern's pet issue, I'm sure he can give O'Reilly some stats for CenterNetworks. Edit: I tweeted the relevant links, hopefully Tim can take it from here: http://friendfeed.com/e... - Daniel J. Pritchett
I've actually considered turning friendfeed into my full time blog comment platform. It links to global conversation and reputation management better than individual blogger/wordpress/etc platforms. - boz
Most of LinkLogs are gone. They live on Twitter. Blogging has certainly gone down. - Dorai
we've got a plug-in we use to pull FF comments into blog, cross post blog comments back to FF. Has increased our number of comments substantially - Marshall Kirkpatrick
Marshall, What's the plug in and is it available? - Molly
The Backtype Connect plugin seems to work pretty well for Wordpress - http://thenextweb.com/2009... - Matt
There's a WordPress plugin, but I would dearly love an option for TypePad integration. - Richard Akerman
I'm pretty sure RWW uses TypePad, Richard. Try messaging Marshall directly to see if you can't get a better response. Then again knowing RWW's high technical competence they may well have written their own plugin in house. - Daniel J. Pritchett
the Movable Type plug-in we use was made by mt-hacks.com - Marshall Kirkpatrick
My blog comments are down. People get personal when you comment on their blog. On FF/ Twitter, it's hard to delete your comments - Vivek Puri
Unfortunately MT plugins can't be used directly in TypePad - Richard Akerman
@Vivek - how is it hard to delete comments on FF? - Daniel J. Pritchett
@Daniel J. Pritchett since someone else might be posting the original story. - Vivek Puri
the thread owner can delete comments. the comment owner can delete comments. that's about it. - guruvan (Rob Nelson)
can the MT plugin be used in Wordpress? I'm trying right now to figure out the best way to have both FriendFeed comments and Disqus comments on my blog. - guruvan (Rob Nelson)
@guruvan there's a WP plugin http://wordpress.org/extend... - Richard Akerman
considering you can get twitter/friendfeed commentary in your blog now, i doubt its too big a deal these days. blog posting on the other hand, i notice that goes down nowadays... my rss reader isn't as filled up, as it used to be - FriendFeed is my new RSS reader - Colin Charles
Rochard: Thanks Looking into that right now :) - guruvan (Rob Nelson)
hmm...no, that's not quite what I want. I think I saw what I want on Techcrunch. I can't locate discussion that I saw here about it either. A magic trick that integrated 9at least one way - pull from FF) comments from FF into the blog commentary - guruvan (Rob Nelson)
@Rob: There's Disqus's FriendFeed sync, there's BackType's social mentions tracker, and there's Carter Rabasa's FF2Disqus as seen on LouisGray.com (https://ff2disqus.appspot.com/). Pick your poison! - Daniel J. Pritchett
Silos of comments aren't particularly useful, they lack the potential for connectivity. A friendfeed wordpress plugin would be the category killer. - Cliff Gerrish
Robert, do you mean your volume of posting comments on blogs has gone down, or that the content you post on your own blogs has gone down/suffered because of your posting on Twitter/Friendfeed? Like many others, I prefer your longer thought out pieces on your blogs than your posts; certainly, however, don't cut off your finger (microblogs) to spite your arm (blogs). - Chris Aldrich
I'm pretty sure Scoble meant (note, his comment is a month old) that he no longer devotes as much time to posting at scobleizer.com as he once did. He is still wired 24/7, he's just spread his presence out to more outposts i.e. FriendFeed. - Daniel J. Pritchett
Chris: both have gone down because of friendfeed. But I'm still writing longer posts when the opportunity strikes me. I'm working on a long one about Zappos right now, for instance. - Robert Scoble
Analytics! Track whenever a blog comment is posted, and correlate those numbers against specific referring domains such as Facebook, Twitter, or Friendfeed to understand the impact. I do this with a number of my social-media-savvy clients and they love it. - Shawn C. Reed
@Daniel interesting. May be worth it to Disqus-ify my blog just for the FF integration. - Richard Akerman
Daniel: Thats IT! FF2Disqus Was the the item off to discover all the deets now :) Thanks!!! - guruvan (Rob Nelson)
@Rob: If you like it be sure to publicly thank Carter Rabasa! He doesn't get enough love for his great contributions IMO. http://beta.friendfeed.com/cubanli... - Daniel J. Pritchett
Daniel: I will do that. I rave about my fav toys. - guruvan (Rob Nelson)
today I noticed for the first time that ReadWriteWeb has an "also post to friendfeed" when commenting http://www.readwriteweb.com/archive... - Jodi Schneider
i visit a more blogs and comment on them from twitter links, twitter has become the new rss feed for info. - Steve Plunkett
I'm far more likely to comment on FF than on blogs, b/c blogs have more trolling and I don't revisit posts to check for replies. - Daniel Dulitz
Rex Hammock
I really hate the new FriendFeed design. It reminds me of what FaceBook will look like in six months.
That is funny! - Robert Scoble
I nearly spit out my tea when I read this :) Well done sir. - Fraser
I can't wait for Facebook to look like this! I have many more friends on Facebook so start your copy machines now. - Wo
Facebook needs a lot more real estate for all its features. It will never look like this. Personally I really like the new look. Although, I think that we should be able to change the background without any 3rd party coding. - Mathew™ one of a kind
Hasn't Facebook already said that they're working on a realtime feed? - Martin Bryant
You Dinosaur! Wait your name Is Rex. What a coincidence. - Marcus Beagley
Maybe we should set up a Facebook Group hating the upcoming friendfeed design before they implement it?? - Paul M Evans
Facebook has had a real time feed for ages. They've just temporarily disabled it in the new design. - Erik K Veland

Want a Twitter app with Summize integration, replies, Tweets, and groups in one desktop window? Check out http://www.tweetdeck.com/beta/
I would like a twitter app that would make twitter work :) - (jeff)isageek
I want a twitter that works :) - directeur from NoiseRiver
Tweetdeck is very nice. Breaking tweets out into @ replies and groups makes sense. Pretty, too. - Leo Laporte
Excellent! I'm just not that into all the dark gray. - kennbell
'scuse me while i wipe up this drool, but that looks hot! - Sarah Perez
This is very nice. Love the grouping feature. Makes it a lot easier to follow tweets. - Dave Rutter
ok, see that got all screwed up just now, had to delete & start over. - TheMacMommy from twhirl
so what I meant to say was, I like tweetdeck for trying to improve on apps like twirl or twitterific for that matter, but I'd still love to see some über combination of tweetdeck & twirl that lets you group, customize color in UI, post using ping.fm and receive more than just tweets like FF does - not so much a firehose but more like a spiffy detachable shower head w/the different dial settings. Come to Mamma! - TheMacMommy from twhirl
Checking it out now, thanks Louis! - Daniel Smith from twhirl
I like it Louis - thanks for the tip .. even though there are acouple of things I would probably like as options it is very workable in the short time I have been using it - Steven Hodson
I really like this so far, it'll be interesting to see what future plans holds. I'd like to see a tad more customization of the client itself. Nice so far though. - Nick
Nice that you can keep twittering even when Twitter is down. Categories/groups/tags is clearly a direction Twitter user needs are heading. Also need an app, though, that can handle multiple Twitter accounts. I tried Twhirl but after a while kept getting timeouts on the 2nd open account. Maybe that's Twitter's fault, not Twhirl's. - Gordon Vaughan
I still wonder why all of these apps default with a dark background. - Caleb Elston
Just saw it with my 9-y-o daughter. Animation was amazing and it was visually attractive. Story was cute, but not great. I think that Monsters Inc., the Incredibles and even Toy Story had better writing. Most interesting thing to me was that more than half the people in the theater were adults with no children. Definitely a bit of a geeky crowd, different than you might expect for a Disney/Pixar flick. All that said, Nice. Now all I need is a blackberry version (that also handles friendfeed) :) - Barry Graubart from twhirl
Using it .. nice. Try clicking on the photo. Looks like most of us need to go higher rez! - Charlie Anzman
pretty slick...just not picking up all my twitter friends though for some reason. - Zee.
Very nice and still very-very buggy (Air Linux) - Czar
Ok, another ugly black twitter client. I want an Air app with some brushed metal feel to it. Having something on my desktop that doesnt match the rest of the windows makes me feel like Im on windows. - Colby Olson
I would rather pay for Flickr than put my photos on Facebook to be fodder for advertisers. - Andrew Feinberg
Are there any other Twitter services/apps with the Grouping functionality? Really loving that. - Bryan Landers
looks excellent. love the "maximized view" for real twitter addicts. though I can't imagine there are many left that are addicted, since, well, you know. can't really be addicted to twitter when it's down all the time - Mark Bao
Thanks! I'll check it out over the next few days! - Soulhuntre from twhirl
This is lovely. Funny how some really nice apps sneak up on you. Thanks for linking! - mark.kemperman from feedalizr
nice but I doubt it fits the workflow now that twitter is a tiny bit of it - Dobromir Hadzhiev
thanks Louis, very cool app, what do you think of the group service? - John Cass from Alert Thingy
I like the group service, but I love the Summize integration more. I've watched my search for TweetDeck just blow up today, and the app hasn't crashed once or locked up - which is saying something despite the fact it's been open all day. - Louis Gray
