"The bankrupt Tribune Company spends millions of dollars a year on its subscription to the Associated Press. Next week, it's going to test drive some less expensive services, like Reuters, Bloomberg and The New York Times. GERRY KERN: We're essentially doing some comparison shopping."

"Brandon Burke lives in Portland, Ore. Until last December, he worked as an enrollment counselor at the University of Phoenix. He says managers taught him and his colleagues a number of strategies to trick students into signing up. One ploy was to create a "sense of urgency." BRANDON BURKE: One thing we would be told to do is call up a student who was on the fence and say, all right, I've only got one seat left. I need to know right now if you need me to save this for you. Well, that wasn't true."

"If you are a local publisher still reeling from Craigslist and the collapse of display advertising, grab your helmet. Google is coming to town. In recent months the search giant has released a dangerous trio of local services that newspapers and local publications should begin planning their counterattack (or their partnership agreements). Each new feature is a clever integration of an existing Google service localized to maximize advertising revenue. Make no mistake, Google is putting significant resources into going local, and you should be prepared."

"The world wide web is about to start living up to its name. The Internet's truly going global with a big linguistic change in how Web site addresses are written. No longer will it be Latin letters only, as in, .com. The group that manages those web addresses, ICANN for short, is going to allow Chinese characters or Arabic script. Or any other language that uses an alphabet other than English. Marketplace's Mitchell Hartman has the translation."

Tina Dam with ICANN says thousands of companies and organizations -- from sports leagues to sportswear brands -- might need to come up with new URLs. Dam: If you look at India for example, they have 22 different languages, and they're spread over I think 13 different scripts. For a company like Coke, that could mean having to register in each one of those scripts. And having to scramble to get hold of its name in other countries as well, before someone else does.

"Why spend money on expensive multimedia tools when you can use comparable alternatives for free? They may not be an exact replacement, but how can you argue with the price?"

Fortunately I don't have need for this... I hope :)

I did an accident sketch in Photoshop once for my insurance company. It was hard to describe who was in whose lanes, so I just drew it using a Google Map and a couple of GIFs of VW Beetles.

In Japan they would simulate the situation with the Mario Kart :)
