When my prepayment at Slicehost runs up in September I'm shutting RSSmeme down; traffic has bottomed out. Thanks for being so supportive over the years
I updated the mobile version of RSSmeme to include pagination and reading story content snippets. Just click on "read more" on any story. http://m.rssmeme.com/
RSSmeme has been speedy but I've also been sacrificing some things to keep it this way. Last night I had an epiphany for how to keep it fast without making nearly as many sacrifices. It won't be immediately obvious that anything has changed but it should stay as fast as it is.
Rather than buy more disk space I just deleted old entry snippet content. I had 7 GB of it that hasn't been looked at in months and thus could be deleted.

Hey Benjamin, who should I talk to over there about integrating SocialToo SocialSurveys into FriendFeed? I've got an API all ready for you guys.

Jesse: we add new services in batches and based on user demand but feel free to email me at bgolub@friendfeed.com

RSSmeme is going to be in debug mode for a few hours while I do some maintenance. It will still operate but most requests will redirect you to the front page in order to cut down on database hits while the maintenance occurs.
Done. I will monitor for the next day or so to ensure that it remains stable. Hopefully I can keep it at 512MB and save some money.

Things are working well so far. Search queries are slower than I'd like but nearly everything else is running just as fast. Ad revenue is down in today's economy and RSSmeme was no longer breaking even on a 1GB server.

Some duplicates have made it into RSSmeme due to Google switching the domain of feedburner to feedproxy.google.com. I've added that domain to the whitelist of domains that I perform de-duping on. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Something went wrong in the night and stories only got voted on once (ie you could vote for a new story but not vote for a story that was already in the DB) causing all stories to have just 1 vote.
I svn up'd django-trunk and now timestamps aren't incorrectly showing "0 minutes ago" every once in a while anymore. That was really bugging me.
