Agreed, but what's the alternative? I think Askimet does a pretty decent job. False spam deletions are relatively low.

Paul: Akismet has three buckets, approved, moderated, and spam. Sometimes it puts real comments in the spam filter. I get so much spam that often I don't see these "fake positives." Funny, but FriendFeed doesn't have this problem and I haven't seen spam show up yet on FriendFeed.

I wondered if that happened: "Akismet has caught 126,613 spam for you since you first installed it."

MakeUseOf gets thousands of spam comments every day and I'm sure a few genuine comments accidently get nuked by Askimet. But I can't go through thousands of spams on the off-chance that I MIGHT find a false positive!
