I've got this - I like it. I bought it to replace the the 3021BPRO. The center-column's easy vertical-to-horizontal movement without taking the column out is a nice feature. recommended - though the column is a tad be short for me at times, but otherwise I do like it.

I have the carbon fiber version of this tripod (190CXPRO3). Good tripod; tabbr approves.
- tabbr
how much lighter is the carbon fiber version, and other than being lighter are there any major differences?
- Thomas Hawk
I have this tripod too, fantastic tripod which is a bit heavier than the carbon fibre version but gives it a very sturdy feel. With the Manfrotto 322RC2 Joystick Head it's easy to use.
- Russell G
Generally speaking when Manfroto market the product in the same naming convention, their specs are close-to-no-differerent. The materials determine how much weight you want to carry. For this particular case, 190XPROB is 1.8 kg, ~$150, whereas 190CXPRO3 is 1.32 kg, ~$300. I personally buy all my photo equipment from B&H - as I find it easier to compare equipment over there: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c...
- See-ming Lee 李思明 SML
I believe the 190CXPRO3 is about 1.1 pounds lighter than this one. An advantage of carbon fiber besides it being lighter is that it's also more rigid than aluminum and transfers less vibration.

Kris, Sets on Zooomr are STILL broken for me. I haven't been able to access sets in over a year, and my emails to the Zooomr support email has remained unanswered. Are you not working on Zooomr anymore?
If you get enough people to comment and complain about it here, he will eventually show up and tell you about how hard he is working on things behind the scenes for the next version...it's a 3-6 month cycle. See here for the last go round http://ff.im/78gyk
- cmiper
Yeah, I saw the last round. I don't really care about the next version. I care about the current version that has loads of problems and is being ignored.
- Beau Liening
It's been ignored for over 2 years...I hate to say it, but don't hold your breath.
- cmiper
Version 1 was great, version 2 even better. Version 3 came with very few of version 2's features, and is now being ignored for version 4.
- Beau Liening
Oh. And the last new feature (Zooomr mobile I think) was pretty much for Japanese users only.
- Beau Liening
If only I could find a better service. Flickr has too many issues with customer service and censorship. I won't go there.
- Beau Liening
Kris, if you do see these messages, I'm not saying Zooomr sucks. I love Zooomr. I just wish the features worked.
- Beau Liening
Maybe I'll run Gallery 2 again...I have tons of server space and a ton of traffic allotment.
- Beau Liening
Why not run Wordpress and tie it into all of your social services? The way things have changed over the past year, you really can create the same impact to a wide audience without them all having to come to a Flickr or Zooomr or iPernity to find you. You can also consolodate all of their comments and discussions on your photos or posts back on your blog. Take a look at www.phillprice.com, he's doing a very good job of getting the word out on his posts, then bringing it all back to his blog.
- cmiper
I'm using Wordpress. I link most of my photos from Zooomr. I'll check out that website. Thanks! Do you know what plugin he uses for the comments area? I can't seem to find anything like it.
- Beau Liening
I don't know what plugins, but have been meaning to ask ;-) Phill is a good guy, he would likely give you some info on his setup if you asked. I was running a few plugins for single services, but right now just use one for Twitter and FB, and manually share here. I guess it's all in how far you want to reach out.
- cmiper
I sent him an email to ask. =) Currently I use way too many plugins. Lifestream, Disqus, FriendFeed Comments, Sociable, and Twitter Tools. I'm thinking about cutting Sociable out.
- Beau Liening
I've been pestering Phill for his Wordpress plugin as well, last I checked he was still working on it, but wouldn't mind a copy myself :)
- Russell G
Phil sent me an email saying he's still perfecting his plugin, but would definitely send it to me when it's finished.
- Beau Liening
Thanks Travis I'll pass it on. School day today thankfully so peaceful here for now, but as you can guess an early start with a very excited young man!

The Palm House at Bicton Park Botanical Gardens, Devon, dates from the 1820's and was constructed using 18,000 panes of glass. One of the wonders of the last millennium, it is 20 years older than the glass house at Kew Gardens and more daring in design

Hi, my name is Johnny. I’m here to tell you about a social networking site so good, Facebook bought the people who designed it. What is that service you ask? It’s called FriendFeed. That’s right, you may have heard of us before. We have been called a rival to Twitter or Facebook etc but that’s not really [...]
- Johnny Worthington
Hi there, Johnny! And hello everyone. I'm internet star Chris Charabaruk. You may remember me from such sites as Twitter, reddit, and my new service Taskerrific. And I'm here to say that Johnny is absolutely right. FriendFeed really is a great place to hang out and be cool. But don't take my word for it! We have super internet specialists who can explain it all in detail for you.
- Chris, Taskerrific Guy
(Sorry, Johnny. That crooked muse of my just took hold and wouldn't let go. No promises it won't happen again, the damn thing chooses when to make me strange. Great article, though!)
- Chris, Taskerrific Guy
Great post, Johnny! I will be sharing it. One thing, though - shouldn't my "friends" be pulling their heads out of their butts instead of the other way around (right after you discuss imaginary friends)?
- Curtiss Grymala
Noticed that... Decided to leave it in cause it made me giggle :)
- Johnny Worthington
from iPhone
Mission accomplished, then. It made me chuckle a bit, too, picturing someone trying to pull their butt out of their head. :)
- Curtiss Grymala
Johnny, (and Chris, great co-hosting) this takes high concept yet practical to a new place. You leveled up, sir. Wow. Don't care if I look like I'm fawning right now, because it's so good at several levels. Sincerely, Me.
- Micah Wittman
I'm gonna send this to my friend who doesn't get friendfeed yet.
- Amani
Johnny - You are like the brother I never had! (except for Sean and Josh that is....) But YOU ROCK!
- Morgan Haley
Morgan. You're like the brother of the brother I always wanted :)
- Johnny Worthington
from iPhone
Nice, Johnny. Maybe you could do a Part II -- "But didn't Facebook buy FriendFeed? Doesn't that mean FriendFeed is dead? Why should I start using a dead service?"
- Ken Sheppardson
Ken, I was going to address this but my objective is to get more users. I'm confident that FriendFeed will be around for a significant amount of time and it's our job to build a user base to a point where we're 'to big to fail'.
- Johnny Worthington
from iPhone
Yeah, I suppose that makes sense... you don't really hear people talking about how FF's "dead" until you start using it.
- Ken Sheppardson
It's only dead if we let it die. Facebook has given no indication that they will do so. FriendFeed is only dead to those who sought to be on the cutting edge. The early adopter wave has crashed over the beach of FriendFeed and we're all now just enjoying a day out paddling in the water.
- Johnny Worthington
from iPhone
Twitter is slowly but surely catching up to Friendfeed in features. Re-tweets stand in for FoaF aggregration. There have been many attempts by 3rd parties at threading and displaying images and videos inline. Search is going the outsourced route, to Bing and Google. The character limit is still an obstacle, though. But luckily we don't have to wait and use a bunch of hacks, because all of this is built into Friendfeed already.
- Vezquex: God of FF
Vezquex; My major issue with Twitter is the infrastructure has to be built into the message. Until I can use the full 140 characters, I don't see much hardcore use outside of the occasional message.
- Johnny Worthington
Not only that, but the threaded messages is far and away a better way to view a conversation.
- Jeremy (cropmarks)
We're the cool kids? Really?? ummm.. did the definition of cool change? :D
- CW™
like rock and roll, friendfeed will never die. i hope. but if i had to choose between rock and roll and friendfeed....well...it's been nice
- Morgan Haley
That pic is the buisness (if a bit Chopper-like)
- Mo Kargas
To me, this picture says two things: "Suck it, world" and "Eeeeeeeyyyyyyyyyyyyy"
- Mike Nayyar
It was fabulous. And I did post it to FB. I figure they're my best shot at new peeps - especially the ones from AdGabber, the first socnet I was ever on.

After the very dark, but very good “The Waters of Mars” last night, not long to wait now before Christmas and the last two Doctor Who specials with David Tennant. The trailer at the end of last night gave us just a glimpse of what is in store including Donna, Wilf, The Ood, Mrs Saxon and a very different looking Master!

In my "my discussions" feed, this post comes up just below the multiple spinning heads of Josh Haley, and for one brief moment Josh and dancing girl were rotating in sync. It was the most exciting thing to have happened so far today.

I don't know where the last year has gone as it seems to have flown by! The boys are growing up so fast with Henry turning six next month and George heading towards 14 months.

I'm looking forward to trying it out. I'm hoping that it fixes a problem I was having with my XBox 360s not being able to connect to my Vista PC without rebooting the PC that's cropped up over the course of the past few months. Hoping that all works well. It looks like the upgrade's going to take a long time. It's been running for over an hour now and still is only on stage 2/5 and only 20% done with the "gathering files, settings and properties" stage.
- Thomas Hawk
Oh you upgraded? I always wipe and do a fresh install. When I got my retail copy of W7 it took about 15 minutes to install the whole OS. I use MC with my XBOX360 all the time with no probs, hope it fixes yours!
- Haggis (Sean Loyless)
yeah, maybe I should have done a fresh install. didn't want to have to reinstall all my software though. We'll see how it goes.
- Thomas Hawk
You'll definitely want a fresh install of Windows 7.
- Kol Tregaskes
hmm... 88% of the way through 2/5 now. I tried to nuke my windows Media Player library (the likely culprit for the upgrade taking a long time) prior to the upgrade but Vista wouldn't let me delete the file saying it was "in use." Figured I'd upgrade, then nuke it and reimport my music.
- Thomas Hawk
Takes a while the upgrade but I did the upgrade rather than clean install from Vista to 7 with no issues and also resolved old niggling Vista issues, so hopefully will do the same for you.
- Russell G
Yeah I have upgraded five Vista machined and clean installed six XP machines. No difference between performance afterwards, so I would say no probs upgrading.
- Travis Koger
from iPhone
the main reason why I upgraded was to hopefully fix the problems I had with my XBox 360s not being able to connect to my PC without a reboot every time. The upgrade's made it to step 3/5 now. Seems stuck on "expanding windows files (21%)" though. But I'm sure it just needs more time.
- Thomas Hawk
A couple of my machines got stuck at the same point actually Thomas, just let it go it will stop again later, but it will get through. My average time for upgrading is around two hours.
- Travis Koger
from iPhone
Getting further. On step 5/5 now it looks like. "Transferring files, settings, and programs." 41% done of step 5.
- Thomas Hawk
72% of step 5/5 is now done. Damn, this upgrade may end up bleeding into a second day.
- Thomas Hawk
Had to reboot in safe mode to nuke my old WMP library. I'm going to start over with a smaller library in hopes that things go better for me this time around. Reimporting my music now.
- Thomas Hawk
Congrats on the Win 7. It's a pleasure. However, do not try to play the Beatles Remastered CDs on it, the DRM prevents these from being played on Windows 7. Go figure.
- Yaniv Golan
wow. totally blown away that my Mac was able to connect to my network after the upgrade the first time with no trouble.
- Thomas Hawk
I've seen speed improvements with LR 3B but my catalogue is probably far smaller than yours TH, but develop seems quicker. Liking the new features so far as well especially publish
- Russell G
The new capture One 5 Rocks. Only thing missing is image management...
- World Wanderer
hmmmm... that was the fourth time I've had to quit firefox in order to get LR 3 beta to respond. grrrr...
- Thomas Hawk
again. grrr. It seems that LR 3 hangs when trying to export a photo and it gets stuck until you close Firefox, then it exports it and you have to relaunch firefox (at least for me on a pretty powerful new MacBook Pro). bummer.
- Thomas Hawk
Doesn't happen here on Windows 7 64bit. I also use Firefox heavily. LR3beta is FASTER than LR2, with the same size library. That said, Jeff's exporter is faster than the export-to-flickr capabilities in LR3.
