Is the headless Mesquite in TreeBase current (e.g., 2.6-2.7) I had heard otherwise.
- Peter E Midford
No, it's not the current version, it's a TreeBASE-specific build, code-named 2.01tb, i.e. it's fairly old but we only need it for nexus parsing anyway.

Post your C.V. on StartinTV.com and hundreds of programme makers will see your potential as they search our database of talented and dedicated members.

Java web start app for visualizing and querying RDF graphs. Looks like it's not actually open source (or I'm misreading) so can't be scavenged for useful RDF graph GUI widgets.

Very different from http://species.wikimedia.org. Built on Semantic Mediawiki, massive pre-population with data, will also have articles, journals, and people.

Looks great, and I like the SMW angle. Just as an FYI, we did an analysis a while back comparing usage of the Gene Wiki (integrated in Wikipedia) versus other stand-alone gene-centric wikis. http://bit.ly/4sL0c I don't think we did anything any inherently any better than the other efforts, but there's something to be said about planting a seed in a preexisting critical mass of users. However, the differential may be less apparent with WikiSpecies. Anyway, looks great, good luck!

I take your point, and the sociology of stand alone wikis is a bit worrying. Indeed, I think Wikispecies exemplifies this -- the corresponding pages in Wikipedia tend to be far more useful. Given that I'm using SMW I've no choice but to "go it alone".
- Roderic Page
Did you consider Wikia? They host SMW instances (though arguable how much of a relevant critical mass one would gain there). I've been batting around a Semantic Gene Wiki in my head, and presumably you're months ahead of me as far as considering various options...
- Andrew Su
I'm hosting it here partly because I want to be able to install various extensions, hack the underlying code, and query the underlying database. It's a work in progress, and hosting it remotely at this stage would drive me nuts.

I noticed you're using images from Yahoo and flickr. Perhaps you're interested in the work some people have been doing on sticking Morphbank images on PhyloWidget trees at the DB hackathon at nescent: https://www.nescent.org/wg_evoi...

I'm following with interest too. Every time I visit EOL, I despair and think "why isn't someone doing this properly", i.e. data mining with added "web 2.0-ness" - it's great to see that you are.
