I have questions... RSS questions. Questions about how you can bend RSS around corners.. ie: school district filters
So let's say I use a Feed Aggregator. If the feed is aggregating feeds from blocked sites (lets say Twitter) but backing up into a non-blocked site (let's say Friendfeed) do you think the Twitter posts would show? - Holly Rae
This phenomenon seems to be described here... http://boingboing.net/censorr... with relationship to Bloglines - Holly Rae
I guess I'm imagining if the feed is going as a post into another blog or microblogging tool and that site is open, then you are avoiding blocks... Am I crazy? - Holly Rae
I use feedly (Firefox add-on), and subscribe to several Twitter RSS feeds with no problems. Not sure if this answers your question, though. - Shea from BuddyFeed
one option is to use a web-based feed reader such as google reader, another is to use a tunnel or other proxy server to completely bypass the filter - Mike Chelen
Mike, that's even more than what I was thinking about. You gave me some insight. Thanks. We're currently trying a wordpress blog that is allowed by the filter and having aggregated RSS post to blog. Does this make sense? - Holly Rae
Holly, definitely, in this case the wordpress blog is acting like a web-based feed reader. might also try using a friendfeed group in this way :) - Mike Chelen
I'm using the Friendfeed room to aggregate the RSS, but can't use it as the final destination because of the fact that it is so easily blocked. :) Ultimately FF is my favorite RSS manipulator. - Holly Rae
