"Yes, it's me, abusing my baby pictures quotient on FriendFeed again. But in case you wanted to get a visual on Sarah's size, here's one item for comparison - the iPod Touch. Also included, Matthew, sleeping next to the iPod Touch, TiVo remote and Blackberry. It's better than using a ruler!"
- Louis Gray
one day these kids are going to say, 'dad used us as props for his gadgets!'...and then there will be blood! lol
- .LAG liked that
@.LAG, then I'll remind them how when we parked in what I thought was acceptable shade outside Babies R Us today, they both went nuts, and I had to extract them from their car seats and walk into the store (using the exit), with the pair held tight to my chest, to commiserate with their mother. I'm sure I was quite the sight. "Hey! Look at that guy! He's in over his head!" (fingers pointing)
- Louis Gray
Hey! Someone should say you - this is really unhealthy!! : (
- Erhan Erdoğan
@Louis - You definitely look in over your head. However, I was that way with only one. Now my children are 21 and 18 and I still remain in over my head. ; )
- Rex Hammock
This made Maryam crack up and say "that's cute!"
- Robert Scoble
@Rex, I look in over my head? Definitely? Where's the proof on that? I disagree. :-)
- Louis Gray
Maybe good idea to get the RF away from the newborns? Just sayin'. Amazing scale comparison pics though Louis. Thanks for sharing. Now get those radio wave emitting devices away from the generation that will hopefully save us all :)
- Brian Daniel Eisenberg
I don't believe you all - Robert, Louis, Maryam, all likes, comments - i urgently need a judge for this photos! : ) Your tech love is get out of control!!
- Erhan Erdoğan
now let's see the Touch duke it out with the Blackberry
- Paulo Elias
from twhirl
I'm so going to do this one day when I have one. haha
- Daynah
@Erhan and Brian, 1) They're not sleeping with the gadgets in their cribs (yet) and 2) I am not worried about that nonsense. I might as well unplug the microwave and TV while I'm at it, no?
- Louis Gray
We always left a computer keyboard in our kids cribs as a toy -- they loved it.
- Oldengrey (Jay)
The important thing to remember is that if Louis were forced to choose between his children and his gadgets,,,well, I'm sure the kids would find a good home. (JUST KIDDING!)
- Ontario Emperor
Yeah, I know I know Louis. I'm just waiting for the time I go to the Dr. to get the "news" after having gone through life carrying 3+ mobiles around in my pocket. It's safe to carry 3+ phones + EVDO + Cradlepoint wifi in my pockets right?
- Brian Daniel Eisenberg
lmao I'm so reporting you for this. Too hilarious
- Corvida
OMG! that's priceless! I <3 it! Put the device on vibrate and see what happens! I bet it would sooth any crankiness. Can you say iTunes visualizer? Better than Baby Einstein. Makes us AND them drool into relaxation. My son has gumdrop iMac in his bedroom specifically for that reason (glorified nightlight). Hey! We have to do what we have to do, right? Why not have some fun with it? Hellz ya!
- Melissa Davis
from twhirl
You know Louis, most parents use a wall and a pencil to show height and growth, you choose electronic equipment, what comes next? comparisons to the wii and ps3? then a macbook, then macbook pro, then dell blade server, where will it end?!!?!?
- Allen Stern
Oh what beautiful little souls! I'm sure they are very precious to you :-).
- Heather Colman
Total weirdness - the cuteness overload causes the pics to show for me even when S3 is down! It might be just my cache, ofcourse, but I like the first theory better :)
- Yuvi
I'll take the electronics when the kids are all grown up. It won't matter to me that the stuff is decades old.
- Rishabh Mishra (p248)
Ok, from one tech geek to another, that has to be the most cute thing I've ever seen. =)
- David Cook
It's February 21, 2009. I'm in the middle of a music search on FriendFeed and found these pictures from July 19, 2008. How time flies...
- Ontario Emperor
Wow, where'd you dredge this up, Haggis?
- Kevin L
Just showed this to Matthew, and he says, "That's Braden!"
- Louis Gray
A smashing success! Thanks to everyone who has participated. This is very cool. If you haven't yet, go ahead and do so. Original post here http://friendfeed.com/e...
- Mark Krynsky
Added. Surely I'm not the only FF'er in Africa?
- Neill Adamson
@Neill, that's great. You just got us to the 6th continent. I highly doubt we can hit 7 as there surely can't be someone from Antarctica that FriendFeeds.
- Mark Krynsky
The Antarctica challenge: OK, here's the plan: we need to contact Eli Duke (http://twitter.com/elisfanclub) he's tweeting from McMurdo Station, Antarctica. We have until February (some background I just found: on his 1st stint in the Antarctic he was a dish washer. In 2006 he wrote a functioning RubyOn Rails site, got burned out and tried to give it away on Craig's List...unsuccessfully--it's back online now http://listyourlist.com/ . McMurdo Photo: http://is.gd/8Ltk)
- Micah
I reshared to the Translation room to help boost your international participation.
- Shannon Jiménez
nah, friendfeed isn't a niche play. it's got dozens of users! ;)
- Jeremy Toeman
Alrighty then, I just sent Eli a tweet (http://friendfeed.com/e... ) with a plea. I hope I'm not taken for a crazy. Hmm, I know that could be my first reaction.
- Micah
@Robert: caught up with an old buddy over a cigar, bottle of wine, and a few glasses of quality bourbon. and i have to be up at 6. so i'm having fun. ;) sorry we didn't get to catch up more at the 12seconds/uservoice party!
- Jeremy Toeman
WTF!!! Nobody from India... ??? Am I the only one..:)
- Devakishor
Well I was late to this party. Great idea Mark. I have all of New Zealand to myself!
- Alistair (alpinefolk)
Turkey is on it must be. Anyhow, and Anyway, they'll be more Balloons One Day All Around Our World, BTW Thats a Great Daft Punk Track ain't it ;-D, Shall We Play it, and what Room shall we doeth Such? It Big enough for All. That is All. Time For Work Now, See You Laters, FriendFeed and Have A Nice But Try Not To Be too naughty Day. :))
- Jason
Why is Erhan Erdogan in the middle of the atlantic ocean on the map? Is he in the Bermuda Triangle or something? lol
- Alan Le
@Micah, great job on recruitment. Eli has added himself and we now have all 7 continents filled.
- Mark Krynsky
Erhan probably got moved accidentally. When I got to the page, and was moving the map, I accidently grabbed someone and moved them to the middle of the Atlantic. Thankfully, it was someone who used a special icon, so it was easy to search and put them back.
- Anika
Hmm, apparently I'm just up the road from Haggis.
- Rob H.
I just added myself. Curious - how do you get different placemarks? I like the Google-looking ones that aren't quite raindrops.
- Tamar Weinberg
Just an addendum to Spidra's explanation: To go back and edit, click the pushpin then click the "Edit" button (look waaay to the left on the page). Then you can click the icon to change, and you'll see Save button next to "Edit"
- Micah
Oh cool. Nice job reviving this guys. Hopefully we get another good round of users to add themselves.
- Mark Krynsky
Kind of frustrating to see how much time I spent on this map and then to find out someone had probably saved their changes over mine - hence mine was gone this entire time. Others should also check for this. In any event, thanks, Spidra, for the tip :) My other pet peeve is Google Maps scrolling incessantly out of nowhere. (Hi Jess.)
- Tamar Weinberg
Added myself yesterday. I notice, thought, that you have to flip to page 2 ... Can't we show all the FFers on one map, regardless of the page ?
- Ahsan Ali
I don't really care about stuff that's outside of my friend group. My friends are already pretty good at bringing me good stuff from outside the group anyway.
- Robert Scoble
This would get rid of all spam and bad actors. Or almost all, assuming you don't follow spammers.
- Robert Scoble
Robert's initial first comment was "be right back", as a placeholder to keep the first slot while he composed his real first comment. Zee was responding to that
- Ken Sheppardson
And it would bring back Techmeme-quality results because it would be based on people you follow and verify. Oh, and even better? The new list feature in Twitter will let you build different kinds of searches.
- Robert Scoble
Ken: but the people I'm following ARE most people and most of them are following too many to keep track of trends themselves.
- Robert Scoble
Most of the 5,000 people you're following are following thousands? I'd love to see the actual numbers behind that... you've done some analysis?
- Ken Sheppardson
want a screenshot of your feed how it looks like?
- ffcode
agreed - that type of search filtering would not only be useful, but the whole point of social network information sharing - using my friends as my distributed search engine for things I am interested in
- Arthur Coleman
ffcode you want me to send you a screenshot?
- Robert Scoble
Ken: informal analysis. I hand followed each of the people I'm following and looked at their following behavior. It is rare to find someone who is following fewer than 200 people now. At least amongst early adopter tech influencers that I like to follow.
- Robert Scoble
Hm... There's an API call to retrieve a list of users a given user is following... would be simple to do a full-blown check....
- Ken Sheppardson
to build a list is also difficult as i have learned from the little experience i have had
- ffcode
StatusSearch did a non-realtime version of this, but they appear to have scratched it at the moment.
- Steve Farnworth
With viewpointapp.com; we are doing real time relevance and filtering within the people you follow. Search and trends sounds like a great idea. We will see what we can come up with!
- Jay
from Cadmus
It would be interesting to see if the trends differ than the trends posted on the Twitter home page. I'm sure it would correlate to the size of your sample.
- Mattb4rd
I might, Robert. Also, I hope the voice you hear in your head when you read my comments here isn't snide and snarky. I'm genuinely curious about this from a tech standpoint. :-)
- Ken Sheppardson
I've wanted something like this for a long time. I guess I just assumed that it was obvious enough that someone (maybe even Twitter) would already be working on it. Maybe we'll take it up as a side project.
- Ryan Kuder
I think this would be very useful. Twitter Times is going in this direction but right now it doesn't have search or trending topics. Their main focus now seems to be aggregating links/stories (techmeme-style) that are popular among the people that you're following. Here's my personalized Twitter Times page: http://www.twittertim.es/mdoeff
- Mike Doeff
What is being overlooked here and to which I believe I heard mention that Twitter was building in-house was the ability to trend against any topic/individual in the network. Perfect for gaining market feedback on competition outside of your network.
- Gregory Hanson
Granted, it's a little off topic as the main point of the thread was for people you follow, but building an open trending app would broaden market appeal.
- Gregory Hanson
That would be a good tool. But wouldn't it be cool if you got a pair of tech guys, built it out and returned to raise VC money yourself? :) Stop giving away your free ideas!
- Louis Gray
Louis: I tried building new app at NPR last Friday and I decided I suck at it. :-)
- Robert Scoble
I've been enjoying the "search my timeline" feature in the Tweetie 2 iPhone app -- looking forward to the desktop client getting that feature as well. Totally agree with Robert, though: It seems like search/trends among the people i'm following has an incredible about of value to a user. A user like me.
- Ryan Sholin
Mike Lizun: Works ok though it'd be better if you made trending topics at least 2 words (trending topics always seem to be 2-3 words). I get a lot of one-words that don't give me much. The trend should follow a longer duration of time as well. I am following 2000+ and only see a few tweets for certain trending terms.
- beersage
yeah, i built out the search concept but saw Twitter announce they're doing it. decided to stick to other concepts and chase the $ elsewhere. thanks for the validation of a good idea though
- Gregory Hanson
Wouldn't something similar be interesting on FB or any social network for that matter? Is Twitter more interesting due to the volume of tweets?
- Dave Hodson
Twitter needs to incorporate this in the API, IMHO.
- Dennis Jernberg
Sounds to me like something Facebook would do if they implemented trends.
- James Harnedy
Good idea about the "Trending" element, Robert. As far as search, really FriendFeed got pretty close if only their import of Twitter friends could have been more complete (not just those already on FF). Stands to reason that the FF guys could have added a trending functionality, Alas... BTW, I just noticed that at ~ 2,500 subscriptions on FF, the "Add To List" pop-up craps out. No more...
- Alex Schleber
Yeah you r right, there exists no twitter trends just for your tweet stream/tweet inbox (tweets you receive from other people).
- TrafficBug
Actually we have. http://journotwit.com - take a look at the Tag clouds. Also running http://uktjpr.com for the UK technology journalists and PR community so you can see what's happening right now in UK technology.
- Dan Monsieurle
I'm working on useful technology that takes a slightly different approach to searching just your Friends on Twitter (and Facebook is coming soon) with http://refynr.com ... my approach is to allow users to create a List of up to 20 keywords, and then Refynr returns a real-time Stream of tweets only from the tweeps you follow. Also, Refynr auto-saves all relevant tweets that match your...

Leila always calls it "ice" and loooves to eat it. Sadly our Mexican consumption has gone down because Leila got sick last time and now has negative associations with salsa.
- Daniel J. Pritchett
Avynn was going to restaurants with us from around 6 weeks old or younger,
- iTad
Drew, the next time I come to Philly, I would be happy to see your stank apartment. And Anika, back up your comment with pics. :)
- Louis Gray
You should see it after 4 kids have hit a place like that. I always increase my tips when I'm with my kids.
- Jesse Stay
Yup, just go for it and leave a *really* big tip.
- Laura Norvig
They will outgrow it. Our son, now 9, regularly accompanies us to fine dining restaurants.
- Victor Panlilio
So the lesson I should learn from this is to go out and have a really big supper now since I will most likely be grounded for the next, say, 18 years. :-)
- Stephan Planken
No, pics. The shame is unbearable. The other night hundreds of people at on the steps of the museum. We sat down to eat. The only food that fell on the steps came from my husband. Even the kids didn't drop food on the ground. LOL
- Anika
Yes, that is Sarah standing in her chair, having wriggled free from the loose lap belt. Scamp.
- Louis Gray
I think it's funny that before u do something about it u take pics. lol
- Garin Kilpatrick
Garin, that's the only way to share with you guys! :)
- Louis Gray
My promise to all of you: if I ever have something difficult to tell you I WON'T do it in an interview with puppets. I will be man enough to just tell you the truth and take my lumps.
This is an age when the truth will come out anyway and trying to put lipstick on a pig just makes one look lame.
- Robert Scoble
from iPhone
LMAO!!! Robert just gained mad cool points for this...
- Rah-PM 2012
Aaron: who is that? I don't watch Sesame Street anymore.
- Robert Scoble
from iPhone
If a video like this DID exist... would there be a link maybe?
- Malcolm Bastien
Robert is this about Jason, his demeanor seemed somewhat nonchalant when he said it, almost an air of sarcasm.
- Jimminy, CoG of FF
Malcolm: I don't link to Sesame Street and Jimminy: I don't link to people who talk to puppets. It just seems so much like elementary school.
- Robert Scoble
Robert please do not scorn our fabric friends! (:

Question from a neutral party... If you have a problem with this person, why not just tell them the truth about their style rather than making a post about it here?
- Johnny
Johnny: I live in public. I don't play games behind the scenes. I am what you see.
- Robert Scoble
For some reason I just assumed the punchline to the latest Jason/Shel puppet video was that after doing TechCrunch40, then TechCrunch50, next time around they're going to do TechCrunch60. They just want to wait to deliver that until "This is the last TC50" has had time to bounce around.
- Ken Sheppardson
Then again, you might be talking about something completely different and I'm just lost.
- Ken Sheppardson
Ken that's what I was thinking that he's referring to, but they had one TC40 and 2 TC50's, but I heard there was an arguement between the two(speculation). So I guess we wait a year and see.
- Jimminy, CoG of FF
Robert: That's what makes you worth following and interacting with, Integrity is everything!
- Owen Greaves
What if you're faking it trying to make sure that everyone at DEMO talks about whether they believe Arrington and Calacanis are really breaking up.
- Dave Winer
Dave: It's still game playing, it may fly in Silicon Valley but the rest of the world won't get the joke.
- Owen Greaves
OMG! Scoble is RACIST against PUPPETS?!? What's next? Hating perfectly innocent TEDDY BEARS?!? *runs away, sobbing*

A little while ago, I had a job interview downtown and decided to take the train. As I sat there looking out the window and listening to Day 26 on my iPod, I caught some erratic movement from the corner of my eye. It was some poor soul who may have been begging for change, but [...]
- Rah-PM 2012
I actually tweeted this when the event I'm referring to happened. I can definitely see others making the same connection, though.
- Rah-PM 2012
I'm not questioning your veracity, Rahsheen. It may have been your tweet, or someone that reposted from yours. The picture is what triggered the memory of the earlier post for me.
- Mark J
Oh, nah. No issue here. It's actually a pretty common pic since she pretty much started her own little crazy-chick-on-the-train meme.
- Rah-PM 2012
Oops! I so forgot about PeoplePod! Thanks Yvette & Joe.

Thanks for featuring Hi, I'm in your review Wayne. We just launched two weeks ago. We built Hi, I'm in 48 hours as part of the Rails Rumble competition. We've got a lot more coming soon. (Note: I'm a co-founder of Hi, I'm).
- Ryan Kuder
Hello Ryan, thanks for the comment, no problem. I really like what you have created with Hi, I'm and I'm looking forward to seeing the upcoming features.
- Wayne Sutton
"In addition to aggregating together the activity on social networks (such as Facebook and LinkedIn) and communication platforms like Twitter, this service also takes into consideration YouTube channels and Flickr profile pages. That is only fit – there are people that complement their every social movement with activity in services like those, it is an not an uncommon scenario in any sense."

from Bookmarklet
It seems to only show what you have contributed, not everything in your stream.
- Kenton
Kenton, we're working on how we handle the different feeds. For Digg, it does what you say. For example, we'd like to show what you've submitted AND dugg. Same on YouTube. Right now, it's only what you contribute, but not your favorites. We're working on it. Thanks for trying it out! (Note: I'm a cofounder of Hi, I'm)
- Ryan Kuder
Hi Ryan - How did you find this thread? - from twitter? (I'm just curious how people find mentions of their Co. or brand..)
- Jannifer @wordsforliving
Lol. I watch FriendFeed and Twitter and blogs to see where questions may pop up.
- Ryan Kuder
I just created mine... I LOVE it! - http://hi.im/wordsforliving - I'd prefer it to not show everything in my stream because then it would be cluttered. This is like an online business card. Love this!
- Jannifer @wordsforliving
Love it, Jannifer! One of the things we're working on is what a profile looks like once you've got a lot of feeds in it. We're also working on getting the feeds from more of your services. We're glad you like it!
- Ryan Kuder
Right now it's just showing Feeds from Twitter and Digg. Are there other services right now that can show the updates? Because I barely use Digg at all. :-/ (maybe I should use it more?)
- Jannifer @wordsforliving
We're working on getting the feeds for the other services as soon as we can.
- Ryan Kuder
