DNA evidence has led prosecutors to charge a Los Angeles man with strangling a woman in her home 30 years ago. The Los Angeles County district attorney's office on Thursday charged Leonard Dominguez with murder. Prosecutors also allege special circumstances of rape and burglary that make him eligible for the death penalty if convicted. Police say a DNA sample that the 53-year-old Dominguez provided after a narcotics arrest in 2007 linked him to the April 1979 slaying of Sandra Phillips. The body of the 33-year-old woman was found in her West Los Angeles home. He was arrested Tuesday and remained jailed Thursday.
