@Edmundo: CRA institutions were not the culprit in the subprime crisis. Plenty of factual information out there, chock full of statistics to support that too. The loosening of lending was a factor, but only in so far that 'other' institutions sought to exploit those new rules and others sought to limit oversight.

Of all of the people I've met in NYC over the last year, Hank ranks right up there in the top few. I always enjoy our conversations. Note that before Hank went to SAI, he used to contribute on CN - so like Roi, Kristen and others, CN makes them then they go sign the big money deals elsewhere :-P (I am hoping Matthew doesnt leave!)

Why is it such a shocker that when someone sets out to stereotype and mock a group of people it's treated with offense? Negativity breeds negativity. You're not highlighting some core issue when you set out to be an asshole to a group: you're just being an asshole. You're not funny, you're not clever: you're a prick. The fact that Loren won't realize this and exacerbates the issue by making these videos makes him a racist prick.

"The Icare motorcycle concept is a cross between something from Tron and "a kind of Porsche or Aston Martin for the two-wheeled world," according to France-based Enzyme Design, the minds behind the concept. I've gotta say, i think a big part of the reason why scoble loves friendfeed so much is (and this isn't a bad thing) that he can get feedback on literally everything he does online. Which is awesome, but its easy to see why he loves it that little bit more than the rest of us.

I agree with you partially. He does have a bigger network than anyone else, but his loyal audience wasn't built overnight. His hard work and forward thinking gained my respect. He also GIVES feedback a lot more than he asks for it.

I think it says something that my FriendFeed experience is dominated by what Scoble does. His network is so large that virtually anything he does ends up on my radar. Again: it's because he has worked hard to build a loyal audience - but I also think that its a feedback loop.

@David, yeah again like I mentioned above to Hao - i'm not saying that Robert is using Friendfeed to continue building a fanbase etc.. I'm just saying that I think because of the already (and well deserved) network he has - friendfeed is perfect to keep them all in in the loop. Hence, why I think he probably gets more enjoyment & productivity out of this that the majority of us on friendfeed. And heck, i love this place - but I think Scoble & other highflyers probably do a little more...

Robert, awesome. And don't get me wrong, i see the benefit for the little guy too. I mean, a mention from you on a space/platform like this - brings in potentially hundreds if not thousands of new followers and because of the way FF is - the new followers aren't just following microblogging post (like twitter) but also every other facet of a friendfeed users web life.

One thing's for sure, Scoble talks and socialises wiith everyone. He doesn't care if you are an A-lister or Z-lister, which makes it easy for anyone to get onto this Social bandwagon. That's why he's most folks' Web Idol! And by following him, you get a great stream of resources from his networks.

What all of you said... He's definitely one of my top web idols. I get excited when I've said something interesting enough to draw a comment or like. He's really built up his credibility, imo. From what I can tell, he's always honest, always more generous than he has to be with his time/energy/expertise and he seems to forge real relationships with the people he interacts with professionally. That's enough for me to be a loyal subscriber. And that's all I've got to say about that. :-)

I think part of the problem is that when situations like this come up, the worst sort of "defenders" come out of the wood-works. Once they get involved, even if there was a reasonable context, things get really out of control.

Mining and smelting of nickel, copper, cobalt, platinum and palladium are the major industries. The smelting is directly responsible for severe pollution, generally acid rain and smog. By some estimates, 1 percent of the entire global emissions of sulfur dioxide comes from this one city. Heavy metal pollution near Norilsk is so severe that it is now economically feasible to mine the soil, which has been polluted so severely that it has economic grades of platinum and palladium. The image was acquired July 21, 2000 by ASTER on NASA's Terra satellite.
