Tell us what you think about the challenge so far...........Let's get this room talking......Let everyone know we are here again........I hope I can get my Avon business moving online. I am doing well off line but hope online goes as well.
Hello All !! Are we all ready for the 2009 30dc? I looking forward to learning how to promote my Avon business online. We have about 24 hours left before it begins. I hope to see everyone there
Can't Wait.. I'm doing Candle Stuff this year. Samurai Warriors Unite!!!!! Hope Lynn Comes Back I really enjoyed her input last year.
- Kenneth Hamilton
I have a Merchant Account now how do I use it with WPD? Lost and Need Help. Can't find Theme for Store/shopping cart. How do I integrate or get instructions now that I've activated my "authorize.net" account. Can anyone help? Lynn Terry maybe (She knows Everything).
Sorry Kenneth I haven't been in here for quite a while but I think you were on the right track by asking Lynn Terry I have been following her on twitter for a while and she is a smart cookie I hope she was able to help you
- Cheryl Louden
I haven't slipped of the planet. I'm still working on the challenge as my life will allow me. This has been quite the process and a lot has stood in my way. I get discouraged many times, but I keep going.
It's been really rough for me to get through this challenge! My sick mother, and little brother have moved in with me! My 83 year old father-in-law may come back again as well after being in a nursing facility for 6 months. We had him for 8 yrs! I'm going nuts and want to get through this so badly.
Jamie, you can do it with very few articles if they and your blog are created really well along 30dc and SEO lines. Instead of looking for time to write the articles, make little notes and ideas for posts on snatched pieces of paper as you think of them, & keep them stapled together or deep in your pocket until you've got enough notes on one of the items to paste it into a text editor. The post doesn't have to be good - it just has to make sense and be around the topic of your keyword. & it can be v short.
- Isha (Marysia)
Find times when you can lock yourself away to drop your keyword in the right places in the post (that can be done in the bathroom) and to add your blog posts to your blog and socially bookmark them. You want the keyword in the 1st line, in the last para and preferably at least once more in the body of the post. Highlight the 1st of them (by bolding or underlining) and also highlight one...

Hello All! Long time no talk. Dave and I decided to take a little break from the 30dc. We are glad to see the room is still going strong. It's nice to see everyone helping each other. Well I better get to work on my long awaiting blog. It's nice to be back! BTW is everyone ready for Xmas?
Hi Cheryl nice to see you again. Saw a tweet about Dave and glad all health issues are good for him. Have a merry holiday season.
- Elizabeth
Cheryl and Dave glad to see you back in the ring. Glad that all the health issues are good. Has Dave every looked at converting a car to run on electric? Just saw local article where teacher did this. Green energy is up and coming.
- davidraffenberg
At day 18, I switched keywords and began with my new site. Not in top 100 yet, but there was 50k SEOC so it may take a while. On the other hand, went back and looked at my first keyword. Still listed at 13 for broad search. Have not given this keyword any love in over a month! I will now.
IT WORKED. Posted 3 articles over past several days. Made first affiliate sale. HOORAY!! Still listed at 14 for broad search. Sale was not on what I was selling, but from a click through onto Amazon. Goes to it's all in where you are ranked.
- davidraffenberg
woohoo! congrats to ya! I'm actually still on day 7! lol. I've got 2 blogs up but havent bookmarked them or anything yet
- Jamie
Finished! The turtle won the race. It took 2 months, but the 30DC is behind me as of this morning. Been a great journey. #14 in broad match for keyword. Used most of the tools. Bookmark everything gave best results. Have not really use squid, hub, weeb or e-zine. Thanx 2 SW ff room 4 support
I've done it, I've "planted my flag!" Thanks Ed, Dan, Guru Bob and the whole gang here! Day 7, would love to hear your thoughts, http://www.traveladventurecrew.com
One thing you might want to tweek is the benefit for your sales pitch is at the very end of your paragraph. Can you set it apart more and make it stand out (bold it, larger maybe)?
- Bridgett Raffenberg
Bridgett, thanks for your suggestions! Let me go look...
- Merina Arjumand
Hi Meri - I just commented in the 30DC room but will add more here. I agree with Bridgett. I would flip flop that paragraph so that people will see that they can get paid to travel first. Will capture their attention. Also, I see your "about me" is your first post, yours is an interesting story and deserves to be read straight away. Why not put your story in the right column so it can be read while viewing videos? Your story lends credibility that can be gained right away. Had I not scrolled down to
- Elizabeth
(dang, hate being cut off :-() As I was saying - Had I not scrolled down to see what other videos you offered for viewing I would have missed your beautiful story. Very well done! Keep us posted on your progress!
- Elizabeth
Elizabeth and Bridgett, wonderful suggestions! I'm going over to tweak it a little more now. Let me see if I can put my story, or part of it in another column. Doing social bookmarking today. Do you have a blog? Is it good for us to comment on each other's blogs, and put your blog url in the signature line? I don't know if this helps, or is appropriate, or what.
- Merina Arjumand
I must say I am very inspired by your blog. I think you did a great job showing all of us how things in the world should be. I will be looking on your blog to see where you travels will be taking you. Excellent!!!
- Cheryl Louden
Just a quick message to see what everyone is up to??? I am STILL trying to finish up my last few days of videos to officially complete the 30dc training. I am anxiously awaiting Ed's news on the 30dc Plus. How about all of you?
Dang, I hit the return key before I was done. grrrr. lmao So what are your plans for Thanksgiving? If you are some of the many traveling, please be safe and G-d's blessing be with you. :)
Good morning roomies! :) Well Thanksgiving Day is almost here. Where has this year gone? I'm going to spend turkey-day with my Mom since her cooking is better than mine, lol. Even though I am a retired chef. ;) My schooling could never compare to her years of "on-the-job" training, lol.
Maybe I missed this in one of the lessons, but I never saw an explanation of the different types of match (i.e. broad, phrase, exact). Well I came across this blog today which might help. http://www.datadial.net/blog...
I also went through the blog article on this topic. Although I got the info on that topic down already, there's other stuff to read on other subjects. Great post. Thanks for sharing
- Jamie
I am looking into using an affiliate other than Amazon for my products. The product company uses a third party to manage its affiliate program (i.e. commission junction). Is anyone using 3rd party affiliates? Pros/cons (i.e. this site uses cookies to determine sale)
LOL Marysia boo to you! Hi Bridgett, laying low for the moment. I realized (especially after reading Marysia's take on niche vs. microniche/ product vs. niche) that I messed up pretty good with my 30DC site. I focused on product and not a niche. Consequently, my site is a dud until I incorporate it into a bigger site. I am in the planning stages for that and trying to figure out what other products I can add to the overall niche. This is going to be a big project so planning will be most important.
- Elizabeth
Hi everyone, Hope your projects are going good and everyone is ready for turkey day next week? our computer hit the floor ( Table fell ) had to change computer case it cracked
Good morning roomies! :-) What day are You on? I've had a "paying" project come up so I am still on Day 5. Did the "paying" project come about because of the 30DC? Yes! :-)
Good Day to you Mark - Good for you on the paid project stuff and that it came about from the 30DC. I am currently parked at day 11. Not ready for squidoo or hub page stuff so I haven't moved forward. Going to stay parked here for a bit while I pretty up some stuff on my sites. I don't see myself moving forward again until the New Year. Much to do in "real life" with this busy holiday season upon us :-)
- Elizabeth
I know what you mean Elizabeth. Funny how life gets in the way sometimes. It'll all come together soon. ;-)
- Mark Strickland
I am on day 25. I am resigned to finishing my days and puttering around with my blog for a few more days. I will then do back and start over again with a new blog (or site) and apply the lessons all over. At this point I am not getting great numbers and am not wild about my blog but don't feel ready to start over without finishing the 30dc first.
- Bridgett Raffenberg
Interesting James! The information is timely and pertinent to your audience, though your last post is so sad :-( Quite the picture there too - so "in your face"! You might want to make it a bit smaller as it does cause your page to load slower.
- Elizabeth
I just posted my first blog entry with an embedded YouTube video. I went out to YouTube and found an applicable video, wrote my post and used the following to get it into the blog: On the right side of the YouTube page is an "embed" code. Copy it and then paste it into what you're writing,
I hate that FF has character limits! DO NOT paste the link into the box for the image as that will mess the entire page up. Just stick the link right into the box where you type in your content.
- Bridgett Raffenberg
Good morning Mark - I am present and accounted for! Working on my non-30DC site - it has been sorely neglected since I started the challenge and I need to feed the poor baby :-)
- Elizabeth
Oh yeah, we can't neglect what we already have. Good thinking Elizabeth. ;)
- Mark Strickland
Elizabeth - Just interested what is your non-30DC site? I got started with all this 30DC stuff because I was searching for help with a Weebly site ( as you have probably guessed by now I am technology challenged and they made it easy to set up a website) that's how I stumbled across Dan doing a weebly video and that led me to Ed and the Thirty Day Challenge.
- Groobers
Hey Groobers - my non 30DC site is http://www.ScentsibleWellness.com. I started it over at Blogger.com. It was easy to set up and easy to manage. I sure learned a lot over there. I am hoping to move that site to a word press site ultimately - Wordpress just works better with google I get a lot of organic traffic there but I have been unable to get any conversions of any sort list-wise...
- Elizabeth
I am working on a new site but keeping the old one up and going. Old site is www.celticnecklaceblog.com. I am not seeing good numbers with that one and am ranked at about 70 on my phrase match. However, it continues to generate traffic AND they are clicking through to my product so I am keeping an eye on it.
- Bridgett Raffenberg
Oops... should have added that I am in the re-evaluating stage of the challenge (lesson 20-ish) and am going back to re-do and look over some old lessons. I am waiting to proceed until I start seeing some good numbers on a daily basis.
- Bridgett Raffenberg
Thanks for the reply Elizabeth my other site is http://www.GroobersGallery.weebly.com, when I saw you post about your non-30DC site - it made me think of my old site and how much I had neglected that one, I so hear you about time or lack of.
- Groobers
Bridgett - I am starting to think that keeping old sites up and running, while trying out new things is the way to go, thanks
- Groobers
Just went and visited your site Groobers - Wow - you did an incredible job with all those pictures. Have you thought about combining the two sites? Also, in addition to your sales offers, how about adding a service to actually enhance the photos? You have a very creative look on things that most people wouldn't see even if they had the software to do it. Talent, my dear, that is what you have :-) Again, my two cents worth - okay, guess that actually makes 4 cents for the day ;-)
- Elizabeth
Thanks, and no I had not thought about combining the two sites, what a great idea, you have just made my decision about continuing or not with this niche a whole lot easier. Oh yeh while I remember Elizabeth, I don't know if it is all the extra activity my brain is under at the moment, but I am having a lot of trouble switching off at night, meaning one very tired Groobers, and was wondering and I am sure this will be useful for other 30DC bods, could you suggest any essential oils to help with this? Cheers
- Groobers
Glad my comment was helpful. I think it sounds like a great plan! Regarding the oils, Lavender rubbed on the bottom of feet before bed and kept at bedside to inhale and reapply if necessary later. http://twurl.nl/d6gpl6 Not to get spammy here but you should know that if you use an inferior oil you'll get inferior results. Go with 100% therapeutic grade always! Hope that helps you - I know how hard it is when your mind won't shut off - its because there are so many exciting things going on yes?
- Elizabeth
Yes and so much to learn and so much to do, I was a bit of a doubting thomas when I started, but now it is slowly dawning on me, to slow down, take it all in, learn and grow, after all Ed+Team did not become good at this overnight, if I take nothing else away from this experience I will have a new found appreciation and respect for anyone attempting Internet Marketing.
- Groobers
Part of my problem is my impatience to have it all NOW! I need to slow down and smell the roses instead of trying to get to the finish line quickly. There is value in slow and steady. Hmmm, isn't there a fable like that? LOL
- Elizabeth
Elizabeth - it's funny you mention being in a hurry. I was recently made aware of how much I hurry through things and am really trying to slow down a bit (in all aspects of my day). I do need to get back into watching a 30day video everyday again though... that's not hurrying, right?
- Bridgett Raffenberg
My life is such a full one, that it's hard for me to dedicate time to this. However, I do make it a point to do so. I end up most of the time staying up til 5 A.M. I've spent the last 2 weeks on days 1, 2, and 3! But I figure that if I do it this way now, instead of going day to day without a full understanding or full attention on the other days, I'll end up starting from the beginning anyway! So why not take my time and spend the hours I need to from the start
- Jamie
I so hear you [impatience to have it all NOW!], I am the original Headless Chicken, always looking for the next best thing, "slow down and smell the roses" is great advice, as is "take my time and spend the hours I need to from the start". On Friday night I decided it was time to stop and have a week-end away from all this, to think things through, so the PC was turned off and not switched on again until this morning, this one action caused a positive reaction, and for today at least I am more focused!
- Groobers
When I watched this last night it appeared to me the Plus will focus on a product line using more PPC rather than blogging. Was that your impression?
- davidraffenberg
Is the 30dc plus the weekly internet marketing podcast or is the challenge going to continue?? I'm a little confused.
- Cheryl Louden
Has anyone found a link for the video where Ed talked about this? I did not sit down to watch it at the time, assuming Ed would send it out somewhere for later viewing. Now I am very sad because I can't find it anywhere! And I think I was doing the dishes or something instead of watching it - Ugh!
- Bridgett Raffenberg
I'm still searching for it...Groobers ...HELP...lol
- Mark Strickland
Sorry Mark not a clue, I don't think it has been released yet?
- Groobers
Not a prob Groobers. Thank you and I knew if anyone would know besides Ed you would ;)
- Mark Strickland
I saw what we could call, a "trailer" for this upcoming 30DC addition. I personally will not invest my time on it until I feel I am ready for it. (Meaning, I''ve got a lot of things going on with this project and want to get to a place where I feel as though I want to get to the next step and add more to my plate. I'd rather take it slow and experiment than rush and overload my head with too much. What does everyone else think of this bonus material and what are your plans about it?
- Jamie
I think your on the right track I to have a lot on my plate and i think taking it at your own pace is good and will be more rewarding at the finish
- Dave Louden Sr
Jamie-I haven't even peaked at it yet. I'm of the same thinking as you. I really want to digest what I've got going on now. I've been doing IM since June and have had so many IMers giving me their pitch and trying to sell me on their systems. The result was me flitting here and there trying to take it all in and learn it all. It wasn't until the 30DC that I found a systematic way to learn AND make progress. So, I am going to stick to this and get to the plus when I get there. Glad the + will be there
- Elizabeth
I'm real glad to be doing this challenge again. I did it early in the year in January. This was before the challenge got updated. I did learn my way around a bit, however, all year long I've suffered some computer problems and personal problems which held me back. It's great to be back at it and I'm honored to be part of a group with those having the same goals. I wondered if anyone was interested in the idea of maybe meeting up on skype once a week to share how they are doing and to share ideas/tips
- Jamie
My husband (Dave) and I invest in real estate. If I learned but one thing it is that there are plenty of folks out there who make a living off of selling "how-to" products. Not that there's anything wrong with that... I just learned that buying the program isn't totally necessary to get you where you're going. I have purchased thousands of dollars in real estate instruction. I could have done what I do with far fewer courses. That has taught me to be VERY picky in my purchases in IM.
- Bridgett Raffenberg
Hey Jamie - great idea but I haven't explored skype yet and don't think it is in my near future. Learning much with just the 30DC that needs to be digested. I like the idea of brainstorming and was hoping that this group would be doing more of that. Lots of members here but very little action. Maybe we could stir it up a bit here?
- Elizabeth
As you know I have been working on a new keyword. Well I just checked my old keyword which I have not done anything with for weeks. It was ranked at #22. Worse yet, there was a comment that someone tried to purchase my affiliate product from Amazon but it was out of stock. I check Amazon it was.
I'm seeing some really good results in google Analytics I've made a total of 3 post in my blog and starting to see more traffic from search engine I think that's making a difference also have added new linkshttp://daveknowshowtorepaircar.ruqqa.com/
Always try to remember that with all that is going on in our government and in the economy that this is the time for patients, focus and learning for the future
Good morning team, Wow, I love the response and tips you all are getting out there! Elizabeth, Groobers, Bridgett, Dave...Good work! Remember now is the time to be ready for "Black Friday"! Who's going to be the first seen Friday morning after turkey day? :)
Hoping to get a nice camcorder that day to do some video for my blogs...
- Bridgett Raffenberg
Yikes - I can honestly say that my sites are not positioned to be ready for Black Friday or Christmas for that matter. I know, though, that personally I am gearing up for some serious on-line shopping soon. Hoping to help out my #30DCers if they have the right products :-) Karma and all ;-)
- Elizabeth
I hate to shop, but I love Black Friday. I am a morning person and I love to get up in the wee hours to be one of the first in line. Bridgett picks out what I should get (looks like a camcorder this year from her earlier comment) and then I go get it. By the time I get home, everyone is getting up.
- davidraffenberg
Hi everyone, sorry for not writing sooner but have been poked and prodded by doctors and still need to go back for more test on the first of december but I'm still working on blog and have posted on hubpages hope everyone is doing good on there projects by for now.
A caution and word to the wise... I decided to go ahead and try out adwords (well into lessons 18-21). Caro recommend putting in a high daily range limit for what you want to spend so that Google sees you as a serious advertiser. I did what she said ($100/day limit) and quickly racked up $60!
Now it's great to have traffic but keep an eye on it. When I do it over again I am going to put in a lower limit - one I am actually comfortable spending. Just thought I would pass that along to those of you that haven't watched the Adwords part yet...
- Bridgett Raffenberg
Thank you Dave. Wish I'd done it a week ago. LOL
- Mark Strickland
Isn't it funny that when you move on you realize that moving on wasn't really so hard :-) We sure can get in our own way huh? Good luck moving on Mark!
- Elizabeth
I used to trip over myself often, lol. Thank you Elizabeth. Great things are happening already! And to think ALL I had to do was take ACTION! :)
- Mark Strickland
