It was difficult to be motivated, but now that a friend has invited me to join him at the gym, which I haven't done before, it's the sheer desire to try something new and being masochistic (I swear those machines are torture devices!).

What Alex said. But maybe a really scary thing that happened to me Saturday night that felt like angina is now going to motivate me. It certainly has motivated me to eat a lowfat diet.

Lately, it's because I want to look good, feel good, and live well and long as I walk the path of life with the lady. Now, if we can only figure out what'll get me to eat right ;-)

Life itself motivates me to exercise, because I had pleuritis 2 yrs ago. Awful. I love the rush I get going fast on the bike.

1. Organize a litter clean up party and get people to invite their friends in the neighborhood. It’s a great way to get everyone together, get to know your neighbors and band together for a mutual cause. 2. Plan an organic community fruit and vegetable garden. First, give out a plant that has just started to [...]

My oldest daughter started a blog (A Day in the Life of a Mom With Spirited Children) and mentioned she had this Mr. Linky thing. I’m not sure how it happened, but next thing you know I signed up for Tackle it Tuesday. In the spirit of simplifying, I chose to gather up the winter boots [...]

I make Shepherd’s pie at least twice a month. We tried a frozen one the other day and it was bland and dry as a bone. I’m not sure what was up with that, but I suspect they’re afraid of upsetting anyone who doesn’t like spices. If you want to kick it even further up [...]

I received a wedding shower invitation “suggesting” money. Maybe I’m old fashioned or out of the loop, but this threw me right off. I’ve always enjoyed watching them unwrap the gift. Sometimes it’s a handmade gift like candles, jewelry or a gift basket full of fun things to pamper themselves with. Giving money would take [...]

On this Nova program on aging, scientists were investigating why some people live longer than others. The bottom line seems to be good genes because several people who lived to be 100 admitted to leading what some would consider unhealthy lifestyles. Most of them had parents and grandparents who lived long lives, so it does [...]

Interesting thoughts on how the media encourages dependence. Songs say "I'm lost without you", movies say "You complete me" etc. How about being o.k. with yourself whether you're with someone or not?

There was an excellent show on Dr. Phil today about angry moms. He hit the nail on the head about how people often treat strangers better than their own family. The second mother featured had a beautiful big home, husband and a couple teenagers but she was obviously overworked and stressed. She’s a real estate [...]

The snow is melting and along with that are dirty looking leftovers outside. There’s a blue muddy swimming pool that stands out like a sore thumb in our yard. All kinds of leaves and other crap were covering the new flowers that are struggling to escape. These things are all Feng Shui no nos, so [...]

I haven’t been around much and I could come up with a zillion excuses. The truth is that I was simply in a bit of slump. Winter tends to do that to plenty of people so I’m sure some of you can relate. We had a huge melt and the sun came out so [...]
