as punishment to AT&T, I'm in the process of uploading nearly 4 gigs of photos to Flickr. and that's not all of them. Aussie photos up soon!
@Buckeye_John I find that URL *hilarious*. and of course they couldn't identify which code it related to. that'd be easy.
@stmhoward I can promise no such thing. ;-)
@Jeffbrown711 Ha! :-) those companies present at StartupRiot.
filled complaints with FCC and Georgia PSC. now this is what I call ruckus creation.
@colinake if I were more motiviated, I'd take that comment as a challenge. :-)
@Buckeye_John yeah, it's a 770 area code. it was just listed as biz to get port 25 (SMTP) unblocked for DSL (used to run mail server @ home)
just fired an email off to the Georgia PSC.
@Umatter2Charter okay, so it is doable by you guys. good to know. I might be getting all three svcs from Charter in the near future.
@Umatter2Charter I think part of the prob is that I'm dealing w/ non-informed ppl on the phone. need to find someone who knows their stuff.
@PeggyDuncan any chance you know who you spoke to at AT&T to get this done?
let the phone spamming / drunk dialing begin. :-) RT @colinake: New Google Voice number: 678.551.CAKE (2253)
@Umatter2Charter it hasn't been published or listed anywhere (not in yellow pages or white pages for biz or residential).
@Umatter2Charter so 1 question for you - if I ported my number to Charter, does it matter if it was biz listed with AT&T?
@Umatter2Charter I converted from rez to biz to get features for DSL. I'm dumping DSL next week (reason I emailed you on CM svc).
@Umatter2Charter they're saying the number can't be converted from residential to business because of "tarriff" rules.
time for some ice cream after all that...
AT&T person claims she will research and call me back on Monday. I'm not waiting. gonna call PSC at least today. maybe email FCC too.
@andrewwatson I will be throwing out complaints to FCC and Georgia PSC very, very soon.
another rub with changing phone number - AMEX knows my home phone # and gets me to a rep faster because of it. that's a pain to fix.
@colinake I use grandcentral number on my biz cards but all our family (and credit card co's) have home phone number.
@KestrelHunter actually I think their computer may say it so they stop asking questions. keep 'em dumb so they can't hose anything.
@Buckeye_John the person I'm talking to is a team lead but she seems clueless about this.
she keeps claiming it's a federal tarriff thing and "no one can help us with this". apparently I have to talk to the creator for a change.
if I don't like your service, I point it to another svc provider and use them instead. this portability thing isn't "real" ownership at all.
we need to give consumers the ability to own and point their phone numbers like you can do with domains. who is with me?
@KestrelHunter they just said it'd be held for 90 days.
@glengordon I very well may switch to someone else's service and never see AT&T again.
they keep saying these are federal tariff rules but it doesn't apply in some states. that is the definition of NOT federal.
@Buckeye_John yeah, I said the same thing. plus this doesn't apply in 2 states. that clearly means it isn't federal.
