Alright, I'm out of invites for SkyGrid. - Robert Scoble
Initially looked like you were watching The Matrix hehe. Still a problem of noise and signal - have you seen both Facebook, and later Twitter decrease their signal to noise ratio? What area do you get the most useful info for stories and updates on new tech? And how do you get over the feeling of "missing" out when you're not in front of these feeds? rely on stuff coming up again if it's important? - Tom Tubbs
That auto-refreshing FF window scares the pants off me. How do you not get super stressed out from all that influx of information? - Harry Wolff
Harry: stress is what happens when your boss fires you. This is just like surfing. :-) - Robert Scoble
But..but...how do you siphon through all that? How do you know what to respond to...what to read, what not to read....Aaaah!! How do you handle this every day?! I mean, I'm sure the 4 (I counted 4 monitors?) helps but like...wow....good on you...damn.... - Harry Wolff
Harry: I'm good at pattern recognition. :-) - Robert Scoble
Ah, but have you read the novel? - Kathy Fitch
William Gibson rocks! - Jesper Lind
Smaller fonts is better, it feels pretty neat. A bit slower, more intel. - ElijahBailey-Zu of FF <0,
Is there any tech out there to in real time highlight something like statistically improbable Phrases, or highlight key words, so you can grey out words that are like like the, is , and etc? - Tom Tubbs
Yeah, Jesper! - Kathy Fitch
I don't even know what that means! lol...Also..curious...what hardware you rockin? Mostly, what monitors/displays are you using and for what (if you don't mind my asking)? - Harry Wolff
OMG, It's scrolling so fast! Just the fact that you are able to function with a timeline that moves so fast is amazing. - Louis P. from twhirl
Even though there might be only 1 interesting tweet per 1000, I'd be concerned that I'd miss it since the information is tumbling out so fast - Angus Burton
Harry: I have a 17-inch Macbook running TweetDeck, soon to be Seesmic Desktop. A MacMini playing music and hooked up to a crappy old screen. A new MacBook 15-inch with a 24-inch Apple screen (that's what I was running friendfeed on). - Robert Scoble
Reminds me of ticker tape. Digital ticker tape. - Kathy Fitch
Thanks...I had my laptop on mute and completely forgot that there is an audio feed along with the video on your Qik stream...Now I can actually hear what you're saying...lol....I feel so stupid lol... - Harry Wolff
i just saw me on tweetdeck :D - Lee
*laughs* I love the part where you said you don't need 6 monitors. 5 is the magic number? ;) - Daynah
...how can you focus on anything? there's too much information flowing at the same time. wow! - .LAG liked that
Daynah: actually I usually have another two laptops. Sometimes I actually have to do real work and need my vertical screen for that. - Robert Scoble
Hey Robert, When your done your video, up for getting together? - Luke Kilpatrick
LAG: it's easy to focus on the screen. Not easy to focus on anything else. But keep in mind I use it just to refactor my filters. That's where the real magic happens. - Robert Scoble
Luke: sure, where? Your house, my house, the ritz? - Robert Scoble
It's wicked foggy here in HMB. - Robert Scoble
Go projector Scoble! You'll get a wall of information! ;) And thank you very much for this mini-presentation or whatever it is that this was. Thanks! :) - Harry Wolff
Cool see you soon. - Luke Kilpatrick
Awesome video. If friendfeed can figure out to add the right tools to itself, it'll replace twitter, IRC, IM, RSS aggregators and everything else. - Charbax

Tom: when they are done. I'll be happy if we have them in the next month. - Robert Scoble
Dunno why I never thought to turn different instances of FF into a TweetDeck, but now I got my mashup. Now I'll never get off FF. Thanks! - phil baumann
When filters go real time, does that make friendfeed the IRC chat room kind of thing of all topics? friendfeed should stream and rank comments in real-time also. How to filter the few best comments out of 60 in real time? - Charbax

Bad Technology: A Call for Revolution Against Beta Culture - http://gizmodo.com/5083371...
Bad Technology: A Call for Revolution Against Beta Culture
"I'm tired of all this. But I'm mostly tired about the fact that it seems that we all have given up. Tired because now we see "upgrades" as an opportunity to protect our investment, but in reality, it's laziness and a poor job on the manufacturer part that we have accepted without questioning. Instead of calling foul play and refusing to participate, we keep buying." A-EFin-MEN!!!!!!!!!!! - Mona Nomura from Bookmarklet
I definitely agree. - Neal Jansons
If you agree, digg this. Seriously. It's unacceptable and people need to be stopped!! - Mona Nomura
Hear, Hear!!! - Kenton
Seriously. How is this acceptable? And now we all bought Apple crap (iPhone), with a premature OS. People actually PAID for MobileMe that was a complete FAIL. This is SO not OK! - Mona Nomura
Beta culture wouldn't be so bad, but we often have to put up with alpha code that is referred to as beta (remember, beta is functionally complete and into final bug finding and fixing.. alpha is incomplete and bugs absolutely everywhere). In physical products this problem is because of cheaping out on components instead of paying the little bit extra for true quality. - alphaxion
alpha is invite only and beta is like... public. it's like a disclaimer. sorry our crap doesn't work? well it's still in beta - not our faults! i mean if it's a free service - FINE. but if we're paying for it? HELL TO THE NO. and!! the invite only crap pisses me off. WHY do some people get to use it and others don't? IT'S THE EFin INTERNET NOT HOLLYWOOD - Mona Nomura
@mona no, it's not based on when you get to play with it. Beta is all of the functions done and dusted with 95% of bugs weeded out.. a beta product should not break with simple functional use - that's the alpha stage of development! - alphaxion
that's how it SHOULD be, but is that how it is? NO! ugh. - Mona Nomura
oh, I fully agree with the sentiment, but I would push it one further.. Stop abusing the term "beta"! :) - alphaxion
*Raise hand* I paid for MobileMe. /shame - Neal Jansons
I hope they refunded you, Neal!! - Mona Nomura
They gave me a bunch of extra time on my sub to make up for the syncing issues, but the issue is that the experience they promise (universal sync across Macs, Windows, and devices) was what I wanted, and I still don't have that. My bookmarks don't sync unless I use the browsers they tell me to, and my email accounts don't sync unless I use the clients they want me to. All in all, a waste of money, and unless it changes a great deal by the end of my sub I will not renew it. - Neal Jansons
Don't you remember the internal email that was leaked? They (Apple) released it prematurely. - Mona Nomura
i don't know you know...one of the man things you'll hear most successful entrepreneurs say is get the product out as soon as possible...and work on it as people use it. I definitely agree that paying for it when it's still lacking features and very buggy is wrong - but if it's free and generally useful...i can't complain. - Zee.
That's what I'm saying. Gmail? Twitter? I'm not going to complain since it's free. BUT this "Beta discalimer" is spreading to paid services, which to me, is NOT ok and completely unacceptable. - Mona Nomura
I was among the hoodwinked...was buying one of the new iMacs the week MobileMe launched. I was in the SF Apple store and...well, you all know how it is. You get in there and it's all just so sexy and shiny that you walk out with way more than you went in to buy. - Neal Jansons
why here here then! :) - Zee.
I mean seriously, instead of just bitching about it, the only thing I know how to get our voices heard (right now) is pushing for diggs. If you guys have a better suggestion, I'm open to it. But like the headline says. This is a call for action, you guys. - Mona Nomura
Vote with your dollars. Wait for reviews. Never install anything that hasn't been on the market for less than six months. If people didn't want to be on the bleeding edge all the time, this kind of behavior wouldn't've taken hold. - Victor Ganata
@Mona: If it says "beta" and you pay for it anyway, that's not the developer's problem. You either need the app/tool/whatever that badly, or you're trying to contribute to development... either way, that's a personal decision. Now, things like MobileMe are a different story... - Roger Benningfield
it's a chain of events. I agree, it's not the dev's problem, because a product and its cycle is not solely on one group. and yes, consumers are to blame for shelling out cash for unstable products. BUT that does NOT give manufacturers' rights to release inferior products. And THAT'S what I'm starting to see. and THAT is why I have SUCH a problem with this. - Mona Nomura from IM
good read, thanks! I agree - technology Manufacturers are pushing products out way before they've been thoroughly tested; worse yet, the products are much cheaper in quality (cheaper components, limited product lifecycle - disposable = more purchases of craptastic stuff later - Susan Beebe
It's what burned me out 10 years ago and coerced me into being a "cautious adopter". I just couldn't stomach it anymore, and walked away. For instance, when bulwark freeware apps like Eudora started charging subscriptions while they fiddled through beta after beta, I just stopped upgrading. As others followed suit in some fashion or another, it all became uninteresting. - ɐ ɯıʞ sıɹɥɔ
But that's my gripe. It's SO not OK. I'm Japanese, and in Japan, we are all about the 'newest' and the 'greatest'. In fact, it's ALL about the new shiny things. In this country, we almost have to be late or cautious adopters, because a lot of products are too buggy. I don't understand why and as an American, living in the United States, I don't want to think twice before purchasing. - Mona Nomura
somehow i think Pandora's box has only one-way locks... - A.T.
IANAL, clearly, but aren't there laws governing this? I mean, some of this stuff could easily be grounds for lawsuits, no? - Victor Ganata
Lawsuits? Are you serious? So you're saying we need lawsuits to ask for a decent product that actually... is worth our money? I'm sorry (well not really) but HELL TO THE NAY. - Mona Nomura from IM
The minute product manufacturers figured out that consumers started placing a higher value on new, bright shiny stuff vs. classic, high quality products, we became subject to a new trend in product dev. design, planning, testing, quality, marketing and support. - Susan Beebe
People are clearly not going to do the right thing just because you ask them to. If they did, we wouldn't need laws. - Victor Ganata
If you're gonna throw lawyers at it, might as well just throw the money right on it directly. Better yet, just give the money to me, and I'll post flowery assurances that it'll all be better in 2.1. I don't see how keeping the court system tied up in more pointless litigation is going to help this any more than malpractice insurance helped us get better health care. - ɐ ɯıʞ sıɹɥɔ
Now just imagine what health care would be like without the recourse to sue for malpractice. - Victor Ganata
It's a cycle... and it's going to get worse, unless we (the consumers) let manufacturers know, it is NOT ok. It's unacceptable in other countries, why can't we expect the same here? - Mona Nomura
DUDE but that's my thing. PREVENTION IS KEY! I will be DAMNED if tech starts resembling the health care model. SERIOUSLY - Mona Nomura from IM
As long as people pay money for crap, why change? You have to hit them where it hurts. - Victor Ganata
Victor, you are not listening to me. It does NOT have to be that way. - Mona Nomura
I agree, it shouldn't be that way, but what is the most efficacious way to get that to change? - Victor Ganata
All of us are to fault. But we (consumers), have the most powerful voice imho, to not stand for it. Complain, bitch, call attention to it - let manufacturers know this is NOT ok! ... that's the only thing I can think of... - Mona Nomura
I don't see any change happening until people stop rewarding companies for providing unreliable products. The beta-ness of the iPhone didn't stop it from being the best-seller that it is, so consumers, if you want to blame anyone, blame yourselves! - Piaw Na
It's funny how any behavior appears to be okay ethically so long as it involves business. Actions which are clearly deceptive, greedy, and manipulative are dismissed as "just business" and we are told to "blame ourselves" for the fallout. Sometimes I wonder how people could have come to believe that, that as long as an action is in the name of profits it is immune to ethical considerations. I wonder who's purposes that belief serves. Then I buy something and forget all about it. Funny, that. - Neal Jansons

FireStatus is an experimental Firefox plugin that allows you to quickly send notes to: Twitter, Facebook and FriendFeed. It also displays updates from these services in notification popups. Although Obama has lost some ground in the past week to McCain's post convention bounce, it's still very close, too close to call really. - Jeff P. Henderson
++Alex - Anna Haro
The big takeaway from the recent polls is that McCain hasn't made much inroads into the swing states...it's very likely that Obama will win the election but lose the popular vote. That ought to be interesting. - Alex Scoble
I don't like the trend: just a few days ago, polling had Obama with a comfortable 38 electoral votes more than needed; now he's 4 short. Troubling, at least for now. - Steve Lowe
Man, I hope it isn't that close. Too much suspense up until the last vote is counted. - Jeff P. Henderson
It's normal for the trend to be in McCain's favor given how the conventions were ordered. And expect this election to be just as close as the previous 2. - Alex Scoble

Scoble, don't know. RWW I'd known about, and they've signed on with TradeVibes as well so there was no surprise there, but I was surprised to see GigaOm and VB on the list. Either way, I can imagine your mate Arrington won't be very amused :-) - Duncan Riley
Robert, etc, how do you guys think Gigaom's Mobilize fits in to all this. Curious, as I am launching something there. All this is getting ugly (and distracting) - Dean Terry
he is hardly my mate. He attacks me in public pretty frequently. But, yeah, I doubt he will be amused. - Robert Scoble
Dean: Om's stuff is high quality. I would launch where you want. - Robert Scoble
Scoble, if he's not your mate, then why the blind loyalty to TC50? Surely there's room in this world for both events. Surely the end game should be maximising opportunities for startups, not killing one event. - Duncan Riley
Duncan: let's meet again on Friday. I already made the point that having two events is better for startups. I will be very harsh on TC50 too but it's model is cheaper for startups. Demo has several companies that aren't startups anyway. BestBuy? Real? - Robert Scoble

Um. No. Gates IS NOT to Microsoft as Jobs is to Apple. Seinfeld draws painful attention to that fact. - rzklkng
The company with the best comedians wins? - Jemm
I guess the point is that Microsoft wants to remind general public of themselves and that they can be sort of funny, too ;) Or maybe the idea comes clear after few ads. - Jemm
But was it really funny? I think *most* people think it wasnt funny. And it has only two stars on YouTube. I complied a list of headlines here: http://dembot.com/post... - Andrew Baron
it has a "we're one of you, really.. ignore our fortunes, we're *just* *like* *you*" angle to it. I half expected them to have resurrected Al Bundy for the store. I found the windows 1.0 ad with steve ballmer to be funnier! - alphaxion
Oh dear. 3/10. Must try harder Microsoft. And the out-of-sync audio doesn't reflect that well on your brand. - Mike Coulter
No... not this way. Could be just waste of money but after moment of thinking... it's actually working nicely. While it gets negative attention, that is still good for overall ad campaign since it gets people speaking of it. And more time people spend of talking, more closely they remember it. - Daniel Schildt
@Daniel, since when was it out of fashion or too expensive to get people talking about something good? Putting out crap and expecting people to talk about it because its crap is not a very clever option. I cant imagine that they planned to it that way. - Andrew Baron
I don't think the ad is awful and if it came without the microsoft vs apple cultural baggage or the weight of expectations following microsoft's declaration that they were about to unleash the mother of all campaigns on the world I think reaction might have been more positive. I think Loren Feldman has it right - Microsoft don't need to look cool, their stuff just has to work well for the masses. - jeremy ettinghausen

FriendFeed's growth rate had stalled for a few weeks there. It's now restarted thanks to new beta version. New features get attention which get new users.
Indeed, I was feeling the same thing. It really felt like it was stalling. I was having lunch with a friend yesterday mentioning exactly that, but with the beta it seems to have leaped out of the ditch and back into action. I've enjoyed FF much more today than I have in a number of weeks. - Thomas Hawk
funny, I was just drawn back here after a few weeks away having read a twitter about new features :) - Dave Pook
Robert can you provide a link to where you see the growth rate increase? and which metric are you referring to? - Allen Stern
Allen: since I'm one of the top recommended people to follow I can see when growth on the service slows down or speeds up based on how many are following me. - Robert Scoble
Dude. - Josh McHugh
that's pretty cool, Robert, you're actually a Metric? :) - Iain Baker
no comment - Allen Stern
That's true. Actually, I'm using FF more since the re-design than before. In LatAm, though, Facebook is not (yet) the most popular social network but it's growing super fast. - Martin Añazco
We're like monkeys. New features = bananas! Time to feed the monkeys! - Steve Rubel
Well said Steve. ;) - Nicholas Kreidberg
There is a lot of excitement here, but it is also August so slow growth is expected this time of year. - Russellreno
Everyone I knew was using friendfeed like a month ago. Now I am the only one left. It's dead. Next - PC Easy from twhirl
FF released their beta yesterday and I got my friendfeed shirt today....coincidence!! - Satya
It only looks like new users. They're probably all fake-followers. - ɐ ɯıʞ sıɹɥɔ
So FF growth can be correlated with ego growth... interesting - Jason Carreira
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE using small groups of 5 or 10. I can run "best of week" on the small groups & see tons of new stuff. Whether or not I delete someone from my main feed (the "fake follow") is meaningless. People just get swamped out when following 700 people. - Mitchell Tsai
Is it that FriendFeed introduced new features, or is it that people were talking about FriendFeed? For example, if the news reported that Britney Spears mentioned "FriendFeed," would the Scoble Metric show a spike solely based upon publicity for the FriendFeed brand? - Ontario Emperor from fftogo
The real question then is why anyone would follow 700 people in the first place. - Cyndy
Cyndy: I don't know, I follow 3,200. I find that the noise level is just right. - Robert Scoble
i guess i am confused - you are ok with being a default and letting everyone follow you but you only care about the people "I follow". - Allen Stern
Allen: I wasn't a default when I started using FriendFeed. I personally don't like being a default. The recommender engine is useless to me too. We need a far better one. But first they need to rebuild their database. There are far more important things to fix in the database. Why can't you see all items that mention Allen Stern and have two or more likes? Because the database needs major work. If that work gets done then all of a sudden we'll get a better recommender page, too. - Robert Scoble
Cyndy: I'm at a dance camp in Maine with 630 people (part of a larger community of a few thousand). If everyone at this camp was on FriendFeed, I'd love to have them send stuff into one folder. This community has been running for 30 years, and people have married/divorced/had kids etc... I'm not interested in following 12,000 nameless business cards, but I enjoy following people with good posts, and there are many here at FF! I'm thinking about making 100 groups of 10, to hear more people. - Mitchell Tsai
Okay, sorry, but gotta butt in and ask: which dance camp? :) - Adam Lasnik
just curious: how do you know that the new beta version brought in new users? maybe it was the blog posts that just brought FF back to more readers that drove new users? - Jeremy Toeman
I am waiting for the next wave of traffic charts. Seems like its been much more than 30 days. Yuvi? Thomas? - Russellreno
I've been tracking the compete chart, but it'll probably be another week or so until they are updated with August numbers. - Thomas Hawk
Chris Brogan
There's hardly any "serious" news in corporate IT, it seems. Can't find it, if it's out there, at least. Nothing meaty. Nothing big. Why?
"corporate IT" is a pretty big category. What kind of news are you looking for? - Jason Wehmhoener
Data Center, Hardware (big stuff), virtualizaiton, green IT, that kind of stuff. - Chris Brogan
Because corporate IT is a lucrative business, and nobody wants to give competitors an edge. Personally, I'm under an NDA for nearly every corporate IT project I work on. Others are under the same restrictions. The people who are free to talk about it are probably not in a position to talk about it in any informed manner. - Mark Trapp
I've also found some resistance to covering it among some tech bloggers, not as "sexy" as social media or corporate mergers, for example. IT seems somehow segregated from other tech news, when in reality, IT functioning capabilities affect social media downtime, as well as downtime on corporate sites. That's one issue, among other IT issues that should be covered more. - Cathryn Hrudicka
What Mark said. Plus, this news is of interest to very few people, so traffic rates are very low, which makes selling advertising almost impossible to support such an effort. These people, like CIOs CTOs are very influential, but very few in numbers. Will be interested to see where this conversation goes. I'm trying to cover the new world of work on my http://www.workfast.tv show. That might be a good venue to feed in some of this news. - Robert Scoble
And another thing- places like Ziff need to curb their stupid ads. We get that you need to make money. Let me read the article, and THEN assault me. - Chris Brogan
Cathryn: that's because whenever we cover IT news or companies who serve IT, like, say, Rackspace (or Oracle or Microsoft or SAP) we get far fewer visits than if we write about, say, Apple or Sony. Also, there isn't that much genuine news in the IT industry. Tell me about a story you think deserves coverage on, say, TechMeme that isn't already getting coverage. - Robert Scoble
@Cathryn - though true that it's not always as sexy, it sure is necessary. - Chris Brogan
Chris, those are all really interesting subjects to me. There have been developments, not sure how "fresh" you're looking for though. Citrix is doing interesting things with virtualization. Just did a search for "green data center" and found this blog: http://www.greenm3.com/ - Jason Wehmhoener
@Jason - thanks. I happened to read that one yesterday, but it was kind of you to look around. Curious why I don't know more "deep" tech bloggers. Denis Howlett, and a few Enterprise Irregulars, and I guess that's it. - Chris Brogan
Robert - I think you're doing great stuff with WorkFast, especially when sneaking away from Tech and then coming back again (Hey, don't get me wrong- I'm a tech guy and love it). But you're right, as a MEDIA property, big tech is a bit down in the mouth, eh? - Chris Brogan
Because Enterprise companies are still very slow to adopt blogging and social media. The news is there, but it's going through bureaucracy. - Louis Gray
I feel like I should say "muffler" a few times and see if Dan Farber will come over. - Chris Brogan
I'll bookmark this thread and give it some more thought. There's certainly plenty to to be written about on this topic. - Jason Wehmhoener
Okay, and with that, I'm off to buy my daughter an raspberry sorbet. : ) - Chris Brogan
There's the Register, a ton of CMP news sites, a ton of ZDNet sites, I think IDG covers a lot of this space, there even a few blogs I've found, too. It's just that there isn't a ton of crossover into the social media space. - Mark "Rizzn" Hopkins
@Rizzn - hmm. And maybe there's the rub. You're right. I forgot about the Register. Most of the CMPs are overrun by horrible ads, but they're there. Hmm. Problem is a screw loose between the chair and the keyboard, it seems. : ) - Chris Brogan
*update* I was going to recommend the Register, but read Robert's pov below. I can't sit with that. Corrections are important to this kind of environment. - Chris Brogan
Chris: Register is forever off of my reading list. They made shit up about me and didn't correct it, even after it was pointed out to them. - Robert Scoble
Well crap. If they're turds to Robert, I can't use them as a source either. Thanks for pointing that out, Robert. - Chris Brogan
There's interest in Social Media amongst that audience, but a lot of it is curiosity about what it is right now. Like I was saying yesterday, I was asked to speak to a group of CIO-types in Dallas just recently, solely because they want to learn more about Social Media. It will be an interesting conversation - I can't wait to see more of what they are interested in and how I can peak their interest. - Jesse Stay
why does it always have to be "serious IT news", why not something lighthearted for a change. - John Blanton
Consumers buy products & services NOT technology per se ... Nuff - Scott Moskowitz
Unless they're B2B consumers. What if I'm a CIO looking to equip my data center? Am I letting my analysts make my choices for me? - Chris Brogan
People buy things that help them solve their problems. Make their lives easier. Make them more money. Technology can help that - or turn it into a disasterpiece - a master CF - Steve Kayser
Seems like the economy, combined with Sarbanes-Oxley has really got the industry stuck in the mud. The transition to SaaS and cloud computing is exciting - but the companies are methodically making the change without a lot of fireworks. In addition, the competitive landscape is becoming fierce - so folks aren't throwing press releases out there like they used to. - Douglas Karr
@Douglas - that's true. And you're right about people running off to the clouds. - Chris Brogan
How about this. The storage idustry is going to look completely different within five years from the way it does today. Mid-range storage, the fastest growing segment for the last five years may well disappear entirely as applications move into the cloud. Meanwhile, the cash cow of the industry, enterprise level storage will move up a level as customers find they need buy only ultra-high-end storage for those applications whose performance requirements are far outside what can be delivered from the cloud. - mattpovey
OK so it's not news today but it may well be soon and it's going to be a life changing surprise for many in the storage industry. I'm not saying people won't still be buying storage but the patterns are going to change dramatically and not everyone will come out the other side. - mattpovey
Anybody read The Big Switch?? From Google to Edison... Great book on IT - Kyle Lacy
Thanks for posting this question, Chris. Since my recent job change, I've been trying to read more about data center goings on. I may have found some new people to follow here. - Ha3rvey (not Akiva)
There's been nothing 'new' for quite awhile, I tend to keep my company on the bleeding edge...but as of recent, I feel I'm about 2yrs behind schedule now.....(I implemented VOIP in 2004, SAN in 2003, VMWare in production 2005)..I just read about "Web 2.0" in one of the most recent NetworkWorld or such....I thought they were so out of touch - clarke thomas
Check out the Cisco IT twitter feed, also the zdnet blogs are a great read as well. As an individual at Cisco, there is some very exciting things to come. - ciscoit
@ Steve Kayser vigorous agreement ... cheers good products & services even sell themselves & too often risk-avoidance in purchasing not word-of-mouth fact checking to make an objective case for a "value-add" purchase - Scott Moskowitz
@ Chris Brogan B2B respectfully, may make many choices more symmetric but exhanging abstractions of value (goods, services, consideration, value) b2b or b2c is still about maximizing value (time value of money also has a role, of course) - Scott Moskowitz

A Ruptured Cometary Globule - http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod...
A Ruptured Cometary Globule
NASA picture for today: "The "claw" of this odd looking "creature" in the above photo is a gas cloud known as a cometary globule. This globule, however, has ruptured. Cometary globules are typically characterized by dusty heads and elongated tails. These features cause cometary globules to have visual similarities to comets, but in reality they are very much different. Globules are frequently the birthplaces of stars, and many show very young stars in their heads. The reason for the rupture in the head of this object is not completely known. A lot going on out there tonight. - Andrew Baron

Every time the Obama camp compares Obama to Palin, even inadvertedly, it hurts Obama's message and chances at winning that much more.
agreed. it's never a good idea to compare yourself against your competition unless you believe you are far behind - politics, business, etc.. - Jeremy Toeman
@Jeremy - the bigger problem is having the Presidential candidate of one side be compared to the VICE Presidential candidate of the other. THAT is the real trap. - Ben Parr
Ben: that's happening because we all have the fear that McCain is so old that his Vice President will see action at any point. My mom died when she was 66. How old is McCain? - Robert Scoble
are you really afraid McCain is going to die in office? is that what people are afraid and the real reason they don't like Palin? Wow seriously people? that's silly - Jonathan Jesse
Jonathan: no, that's the reason why people will look far closer at Palin than at Biden. But the real reason that I don't like Palin? The list is building and building quickly. - Robert Scoble
@Jonathan: The two trains of thought are not mutually exclusive. Yes, I fear Palin has a better chance of being President with McCain's age. However, this does not preclude me from also not liking her position on several key issues, nor her abuse of power as Governor of Alaska. - AJ Kohn
Jonathan, McCain's age at the end of his 1st term exceeds the avg life expectancy....it puts extra attn on his choice for VP. - R. Ferguson
good point. for me the bottom line is: no matter how the GOP machine spins this, Sarah Palin is not qualified to be *a heartbeat* away from the presidency (there are other women that McCain could've chosen to play the gender card). but a more important issue here is not Palin's inexperience. it's McCain's character. see "Forgetting Sarah Palin--It's McCain's CHARACTER, Stupid!" http://bit.ly/37L3Og - ~C4Chaos
Palin more qualified than Obama is the theme the Reps are pushing. She has executive experience which they say matters more than legislative experience. This is a dangerous meme for Obama. - Alex Nesbitt
I think Palin is meant more to take away Obama's arguments that he's the change and reform agent. If he loses that luster and reputation, I honestly think Obama's done. - Ben Parr
Judgment is just as important as experience, though I believe he has enough experience. Obama has certainly shown judgment - R. Ferguson
