Makes a good point, I have a few core people I speak to regularly there but nothing that really drives me to check out what my friends are up to on their profile other than when I want to speak to them! Or photo's that strike me as being interesting! - Joe Dawson
I tend to find that even for friends I've lost touch with, Facebook is only the initial medium to make contact. After that it all moves off Facebook to traditional email or IM. - Robin Cannon from Alert Thingy
FB lets one to blog now, I think. Not that it makes it more useful than a giant address book with an option to query for contact details. Thanks, @Robin! - Drop dead, gorgeous!
Facebook is most valuable to me for giving me _some_ contact with people I've been out of touch with. And, even for those with whom I am in touch, it's more likely I'll send them a quick line, question, or comment on FB than that I'll write an email. I do agree, though, that we need a better tool for this than Facebook, which, as the author points out, is mostly fluff and does not have some of the features that make social networking useful and powerful. - Mike
I usually only look at the home page and status updates. I rarely go beyond that to look at people's profiles, etc. - Steve Lowe
