I don't think I could argue that any particular kind of ratio is "best", because if Lurkers like to Lurk and cultivate (via Likes) and the Chatty-ites love to chat, to pump out much many more comments than Likes, each can be happy and make for a great social experience. - Micah

Bren, the other thing that can seriously throw off someone's stats is a feed that upon each item it imports adds a comment automatically. - Micah

true. that can seriously inflate comment stats, of course. Then you have someone like RAPatton, who posts a gazillion comments, in part because of his playlist posts where he will list each song in a separate comment. I found, after this post in fact, that I tended to "like" things much more frequently than comment on them, that I was lurking instead of participating. I have changed the way I use ff rather considerably, and I think for the better. - Bren

помню как (давноо) принёс клиенту дизайн. при этом дизайн я делал сам, а клиент, разумеется, видел во мне менеджера по продажам. которому, в целом, пофигу. и клиенту дизайн не понравился, а я стал его яростно защищать. дошло до того что клиент хотел заплатить за новый дизайн, а я (в ущерб бизнесу ёба!) защищал "правильный" дизайн без бегущей строки. а потом долго ещё думал и корил себя за то, что поступил не согласно шляпе. назвался сейлом продавай, чё. - xekc

поэтому быть эмоционально непредвзятым не получится и как главред Vogue любит мех, а Айв любит аллюминий и белый цвет - каждый к чему-то слаб и предвзят. И нужна комбинация, наверное, твою слабость должен разделять рынок - должно быть много людей, которым понравится то, что уже нравится тебе. Тогда твоя диктатура будет склонять компанию в нужную сторону - в ту, что итого примет рынок. А если у власти будет человек со слабостью к зелёному тексту на чёрном фоне - то в той же ситуации ничего не получится. - xekc

то есть думаю что (как всегда) важно не какие решения мы принимаем, а обстоятельства - то, какие мы есть и какой есть мир. и совпадения в этом гораздо больше, чем осознанного движения. слабинка к "нужному" на рынке должна совпасть с козлиной упёртостью + достаточными ресурсами. тогда получится эпл или форд. а просто поступая как Джобс его не повторишь. - xekc

а не может ли тут быть, что при достаточно не маленьких вливаниях в рекламу, можно просто приучить аудиторию любить, даже, если ты не попал в рынок? просто засел в головах. то же платье можно показать на девочке с не превалирующей сейчас пониманием красоты во внешности, а можно надеть на красотку, в текущем понимании общества. и вот уже испытание на первое впечатление пройдено и ассоциация записана на подкорку. - LiveOMG

тот же эпл может запустить продукт со всеми-всеми компонентами своего Wow - и он пролетает фанерой. Post-sale satisfaction решает, если первых десять (или первых десять тысяч, смотря какой масштаб) юзеров не скажут что продукт офигительный-прекрасный-не-могу-без-него-жить, то да, вторых может и не быть, разумеется - но этого недостаточно. Удовлетворённость продуктом как % должна быть высокой и постоянной величиной - либо погорит любая потёмкинская деревня маркетинга. - xekc

Только досмотрел. Удивило что модой занимаются настолько несимпатичные люди. Профессиональная деформация? Про Apple и Джобса читал пару книжек, плюс те кейсы, что на слуху. Думаю в Apple совершенно иная атмосфера из-за того, что стиль коммуникации другой. Целеполагание и делегирование тоже совсем иначе устроено в огромной технологической компании, чем в модном журнале. Please stop using ISP email (Gmail is free!). I just discovered that one relatively common ISP seems to be blocking some of our emails because they include the url http://groups.google.com/group... (with that removed, the message gets delivered).

i've noted a similar trend as well. most people on isp email (ahem, comcast & earthlink) have a setting that kickbacks anything that isn't coming from an approved list...and the default msg manages to come off as both retarded and pretentious in a "i need to stock shelves of canned food in preparation for y2k" kind of way. i think earthlink's notice even suggests you to CALL the person you're trying to contact so they can add you to their approved list. very annoying. - James Miao

Sam, it's very unlikely that they are blocking all of yahoo-inc.com. Perhaps you did a "Report Spam" on that address previously? (which could cause blocking for your account) Regardless, the fact that nobody is perfect does not excuse those that are awful. - Paul Buchheit

As far as I can tell, there aren't any great options. Some startups that don't have to send much mail just route it through Google. I think there are also some equivalent paid services, but I don't know how good any of them are. As you recall, even Gmail had trouble getting past broken spam filters sometimes. - Paul Buchheit

I haven't used ISP mail for the best part of ten years. I've changed ISP three times in that time, so it would have been a pain in the ass and expense to keep telling everyone and reprinting cards etc. It's worth paying for a domain for that reason alone, or, nowadays using reliable spam-free email like Gmail. It's not that they don't want to use Gmail or similar upgrade, its that they don't want to give up an address that they've had for 10, 15, 20 years. I find it strange that people use ISP e-mail because they want to keep their e-mail address. My parents have changed their e-mail address at least once when they changed providers. My point however is that I should not have to worry about a groups.google.com url or some other random detail causing email to get blocked by some dumb filter. I noticed another ISP that blocks our daily-summary emails whenever they include amazon.com links (from someone's wishlist). FriendFeed is full of links, so these naive filters will always cause problems for our users. - Paul Buchheit

I have ATT, which uses Yahoo Mail, and I can choose whether to use Yahoo filters or get the raw feed (and I do both, on different accounts). смотрите что. у меня филипсовский кинотеатр с usb-входом. когда в него втыкаешь обычную флэшку, то на быстрых сценах (полеты например) тормозит картинка и как слайдшоу. вариант стримить видео с компа на плеер тоже не совсем, потому что стационарного компа нет, а бук не всегда дома. поэтому... - N.One

варианты: 1. WD TV Mini (в котором, я так понял, только USB есть). А у меня есть WD Passport на 160 гб. - N.One
