Happy Anniversary Anne - you are a saint, and the love of my life. Thank you for 31 great years, 4 exceptional children, and too many great memories to count. Here's best wishes to us for our next 31 years. Amazing how little we've aged from the photo :-)

Morgan, it was a cravat! It could have been worse; remember, it was the '70s! As for the rosy cheeks, you'd have to ask Jack...

Happy Anniversary! 31 years is something to be proud of :)

Happy Anniversary! Jack is hawt in that pic - reminds me of several heartthrobs of the era, but of course the only name that's coming to mind is John Davidson, and he's much better-looking than that.

I'm sorry, but you look nowhere near old enough to have a 27yo child!

"I'll come right out and say it: Star Wars has a badly-designed universe; so poorly-designed, in fact, that one can say that a significant goal of all those Star Wars novels is to rationalize and mitigate the bad design choices of the movies. Need examples? Here's ten."

Love the comments on this article: If R2 spoke, they would have gotten an R rating. I believe that most of the time, he is screaming obscenities at all of the other characters.

"The YouTube video Carroll made to go along with the song may be the biggest hit of his career, and it's really worth a watch. He actually promised to make two more songs and videos about his debacle with United, and if they're half as fun as the first one, we can't wait."

"Michael Jackson isn’t even in the ground yet and already, the vultures are circling. I’m not not talking about the paparazzi or relatives looking for a mention in the will. Nope, I’m referring, of course, to the Bradford Exchange. Kissing cousin to the Franklin Mint, this company has already put out a hideous commemorative MJ plate. The Spencer Gifts-ish art blows: I am afraid either the eyes will follow me or they'll morph into a cheetah when I look away. I guess that’s okay, since whoever buys this crap deserves to be a jungle cat’s snacklet."

things I want to punch in the face: 1) an expression made wildly popular by this blog; 2) a humorous way to convey annoyance or frustration over those little things in life that bug; 3) petty peeves warranting a tongue-in-cheek lashing but involving no physical retribution. Synonyms: chap your hide, get your goat, rub the wrong way; Antonyms: make out with, love so much you should marry it, float your boat, blow your skirt up

"What do murder, pedophilia, suicide and a baby tiger have in common? They have all been used to sell stuff in these amazingly disturbing vintage ads! These are real, untouched advertisements from the good old days. It doesn't matter if it's lovely ladies or adorable clowns, somehow these old-time ad wizards found ways to traumatize us while pedaling everyday products. Enjoy them now, call your therapist later!"

Social Media Question: How could social media be used to the benefit of a large existing corporation (think like GE big)? This is for a co-worker in his MBA class?
The answer is: not easily. I think a big corp involved in social media would need to be using it as a means to augment customer service or as way to provide added features to customers as a way of increasing their own recognition/advertising. Social networking needs to not be seen as a way to harness a captive crowd for free advertising.
- Michael Scarpelli
I think that any big corp getting into it would need to be very transparent about using a social network - history has shown that when people uncover something as a sort of viral advertisement, they rebel and things backfire. Zappos.com, I think, is a pretty big player in social networking. I believe they use it as another avenue to provide customer support. Another model to look at is the Obama Administration, who made some unprecedented uses of networking.
- Michael Scarpelli
Okay, I'm no expert, so I'll cut myself short... but the problem overall seems to be that a corporation would typically need to control its message and customer involvement with that message very closely. And this method of rigid control is anathema to the spirit of social networking. It takes a pretty progressive customer service policy to really by able to get into social networking, I would think.
- Michael Scarpelli
On the flip side, I think there is a lot of potential as an internal communication & information tool
