The public stuff is crap, but don't let that turn you off. There is value here.

I can't even understand Google Wave to the point where I find any value in it whatsoever. It's seemingly meant for some target audience which is definitely "not me". I can't identify what that target is, however.

When it comes to IO performance in the virtual infrastructure one of the most recommended “tweaks” is changing the Queue Depth (QD). But most forget that the QD parameter is just a small part of the IO path. The IO path is made up of layers of hardware and software components, many of which can have a huge impact on the IO performance. The best results are achieved when the whole system is analysed and not just the ESX host alone. To be honest I believe that most environments will profit more from a balanced storage design than adjusting the default values. But if the workload is balanced between the storage controllers and IO queuing still occurs, adjusting some parameters might increase IO performance. Merely increasing the parameters can cause high latency up to the point of major slowdowns. Some factors need to be taking in consideration.

Looks like its not completely down. Certain parts, like Google, Twitter, etc... are not accessible from certain places. Must be a major failure somewhere in the backbone.

Has anyone signed up for this? I did so last night.

This site still needs a bit of work. It's not actually easy to share the apps you have with friends. Finding and adding friends, to me, seems to be a pain. Can only do it via email.

The idea of SoundCloud is cool, I agree. But 5 tracks upload for free per MONTH - I can upload 3 tracks per DAY at FriendFeed and comment, download, upload pics etc., and all that in a private room, if I want to. The waveform representation to attach comments to can be easily replaced by typing in the timecode of your comment. And finally, why not (as I do) upload music of any format...

Apple Logic is from Europe too, from Hamburg - it used to be called emagic before that company was acquired by Apple. And Native Instruments is also European. And Sibelius notation software, not to forget.
- Fritz Feger
please let's mention Ableton, too.. alongside Magix and of course Steinberg. Deutsche Wertarbeit ;)

The list of DAWs from outside Europe is actually a lot shorter than the one with software made in Europe. Is there actually a DAW other than Pro Tools worth mentioning which is not made in Europe? (and I only say Europe because Propellerheads are from Sweden - all others are from Germany, actually)

BTW check out this cool site http://citysounds.fm from Sweden. The music comes from SoundCloud and represents the most popular cities and their tracks.

since we've got some people here who are interested in computer based music production (and related stuff) let me ask the question: is there a FriendFeed group you're in? Something you're suggesting?

Dan is a master at making things that are complex easy to understand for the general public.

I'll tell you how to do it, of course it assumes you have all of your paper work in order and are qualified, but I digress. The answer is follow up, follow up, follow up. Keep calling your mortgage broker. Remind them about the agreed commitment and closing dates in your contract with the seller. This puts pressure on them and reminds them to keep putting pressure on the underwriter. I did this with Wells Fargo and it worked. Perhaps luck, perhaps not. Either way...I'm closing this week.

#CalenGoo - Finally realized that I don't need to #SYNC my calendar if using an #iphone google calendar app that performs. Multiple calendars, invite attendees, add alerts... If I'm on my PC I already have my google calendar up anyway... http://calengoo.dgunia.de/Start...
@BEX and I liked the iPhone browser (safari) version with the one exception; I could not add items to multiple calendars I maintain. Playing with this CalenGoo and liking it more and more each minute. lol

Pocket Informant rocks (except that you have to sync it).
- Greg
Trying to decide between this and Pocket Informant.
- Kevin Whalen
I use Pocket Informant and love it. It's a superb app and a mainstay on my iPhone
- Mike Fruchter
Pocket informant seems fairly promising with it's sync features to with Google and even the tasks with Toodledo. I'd like to check out Calengoo though. I like how it performs similar to Google calendar in a browser.
- Olympia Scott
Hrm. I really like the Google Cal sync - what about it don't you like that makes you want to use a different app for calendaring than the native calendar app on your iphone?
- Bill Rawlinson
I have gone with CalenGoo. I like how it closely resembles the google calendar interface. Which is one reason why I am going with it instead of Google Sync (native calendar app). So far no problems. Also, when I tried Google Sync with my Personal, Birthday, and Holiday calendars, every day on the native calendar app was marked as having an event in month view (even when there wasn't)....

Can you only OTA to one Exchange server? I wasn't aware of that limitation. thanks for explaining Kevin. I don't use my iPhone for IM at all and I have never had any weird "ghost" events show up on my native calendar due to the sync. Overall it has been perfect for me - but I'll be curious to see how well it works out if my company goes to google apps since then I'll have both a work and personal google account I want to sync
- Bill Rawlinson
Bill - Yeah, unfortunately you can only have 1 Exchange ActiveSync account configured on the iPhone at a time. Before 3.0, you couldn't have both an Exchange account configured and local contacts synced (itunes) at the same time either. Thankfully this changed in 3.0, and you can now have both at the same time.

iPhone 3.0 does support CalDav too. But can only sync 1 google calendar with iPhone. Where google sync can sync up to 25 calendars.

Still pining for an iPhone calendar that does weekly view in landscape mode. Edit: Drag and drop schedule editing would be ultra-welcome too.
