LSEImpactBlog: Today's Post: 'It's time for librarians to join the conversation, but not the boycott', from @puplett http://t.co/K6vmIy1z
- Richard Akerman
Librarians--some of you/us--have been attempting this conversation for a very long time, with little success. And as for joining a boycott, there should be a distinction between librarians and libraries. Ac. libs. can't afford to boycott Elsevier (in general). Librarians certainly can decide to boycott Elsevier and other Big Whatever toll-access publishers. So, to that extent, I disagree.

Our library has no Elsevier subscription. Just today my grad student needed a Cell paper and couldn't get it. It's not even a boycott, just too expensive. Library is still standing. I urge all faculty who signed up for the boycott to talk to their librarians: http://bjoern.brembs.net/comment...http://bjoern.brembs.net/comment...
