Everything, if left uncontrolled, adversely affects productivity. ;)
- Vincent van Wylick
Hmm, me too. I'm beginning to think that perhaps it's going to be better turning it off, except for rooms of interest, or in times of important events, like the recent debates.
- Mo Kargas
Robert, it's slightly odd to have you up on East Coast time. With that said, 8-10 am ET is probably the easiest to enjoy the realtime view as it's not nearly so busy.

The concept of Life Balance has changed. It's now about going this way and that every day/hour/minute - but in a way that it all evens out in the end.
- Pete Steege
om nom nom nom!! ... Mo - that was the original intent of the "Real-time" feature design. See Bret Taylor's FF blog post on this yesterday.
- Susan Beebe
I'm going to project the feeds onto my bedroom roof so i can open my eyes every hour on the hour and see what's happening. Seriously tho', as soon as this streaming goes mobile globally how can we switch off?!

Having been rather ruthless with my time on Soc Nets the last 3-4 weeks (according to Rescue Time), my productivity has gone up and I have more energy. RT was nice during the debate, but have turned it off since. NO more distractions.
- Sally Church
Thanks Susan, yesterday is still today for me, I'm still drilling through all the blog posts on the feature ! :)

twitter in real time? (have I missed it, or you meant third party applications?)
- Orli Yakuel
If I recall correct, it is now possible to surf to twitter.com and have realtime updates without a page refresh, like in friendfeed.com/realtime
- Bart Muskala - AdNerd Sr.
anyway, twitter in real-time or not, it still adversely affect my productivity. I'm an addict (soon to be in rehab)
- Orli Yakuel
It's definitely affecting my productivity. I have been staring at friendfeed for like half an hour now.. snap out if now .. snap, snap

weblivz, good idea, is that mirror on your bedroom ceiling? No it's FriendFeed...
- Amit Morson
@Amit Morson Hmmm, this is potentially a whole new deeper, darker idea of FriendFeed we're talking about now :)

Orli and Bart - twitter recently launched their election site which was in "real-time". Also there's a 3rd party application http://TwitRefresh.com which refreshes the twitter for you, pretty cool.
- Susan Beebe
@weblivz: I guess that's why FF have "rooms"
- Amit Morson
Susan, yeah, I've veen using tweenky for a long time and I loved the real-time feature, but I understood it's coming really soon to Twitter itself: http://flickr.com/photos... (twitter plan screenshot)

I don't even see the matrix anymore. All I see is blonde, brunette, redhead...

Turn off your mind, relax, and float downstream... :)

Good lord, I instead find myself strongly motivated to disconnect from the Internet, read a few classics very slowly and carefully, and meditate on them in silence and solitude. The chitter chatter and jibber jabber become tiresome very quickly. It's a real distraction from serious thinking. (Permit me to be an ornery contrarian for the moment.)
- Sean McBride
I recently spent a weekend without my computer, reading some classics. Ironically, I was reading them in Stanza on my iPod Touch....Aaaah, curling up with a cup of hot cocoa and a good...MP3player?
- Robert Clockedile
Robert - I am currently rereading Ralph Waldo Emerson's essays on my Samsung Blackjack. I hear ya. :) And I've been listening to the Odyssey in MP3 format on the same device. It is possible for human beings to construct more meaningful expressions than the tweet.
