Those spammy "how to get more followers" tweets are worthless, but I get some entertainment value out of reading my friends babble. So not entirely worthless...to me.

what! 60% of them are worth "something"! that's huge! i bet that "worthless" number is far far far worse for the general web!
- simran
aren't like 80% of words [in a sentence] in the english language redundant and hence worthless... and tweets usually cut down the useless redundant english words (only 140 chars to get your msg across :) so by ratio, they are worth a lot more! :)

of course we all assume our personal tweets were judged to be worthy and special... ;) So LOLcats? Worthy or worthless? inquiring minds....?

Sean: I use Cinch from BlogTalkRadio. I call a number. It answers. Records the call. Turns it into an MP3 file. Sends it over to FriendFeed. And here we are. Sign up at http://cinch.blogtalkradio.com/

Some of us tried to get #stpuid (note spelling) to trend. We didn't succeed, but at least we had fun doing it. I suspect it was meant (or at least taken to mean) as something of a parody of this (i.e. 40% of tweets being pointless). And I came up with the hashtag #pointlesstweet, which should be useful. ;)

WarLord: LOLcats or Trollcats or whatever, if I understand this right, that kind of tweet isn't statistically considered pointless as long as it contains a link.

It sure seems like more than 40% are worthless lol
