Crowd sourcing website design decisions. My gut feel is "above." Why?
- Robert Scoble
Above :) "Because it's more important than the Facebook widget :) "
- Ahmed
above - I've found more people are using the Friend Connect widget.
- Jesse Stay
Because I think Google is going to be more important long term than Facebook. That's a HUGE bet, but now that Google is putting contacts on the search results pages I see that Google is swinging for the fence finally.
- Robert Scoble
Above. Make it easy for people to see and to try.
- David Damore
ABOVE, Google > FB google has lasting power.. who knows where FB will be in a year or two :}
- Rachael Depp
Robert, I think I agree with you. Facebook has the privacy game down, but as far as the public web goes, they have absolutely no search product to index and track it. It's only what's within their own private web that they can track. Google has the public web down, which is far larger. Facebook would need to get into the search game to fully compete with Google.
- Jesse Stay
Rachael, I think FB has lasting power too. I just think they have a longer way to go before they're Google caliber, and at that point Google will be even bigger than they are today.
- Jesse Stay
I have been bored of FB for a good solid year. the revamping didn't help that either. snooze. I might make a Google Profile soon. Those I like.

What is the point of adding Google Friend Connect? What benefits will it add to your blog?
- Rah-PM 2012
the next question is which gadgets you add for your users to interact with - don't miss that stage...
- Kevin Marks
I know what it is. I had it on my blog. Maybe it's different now. I wasn't really seeing what it added above and beyond what a blog already provides.
- Rah-PM 2012
Rahsheen, FriendConnect's much more than just a widget. As far as the widget goes though, it entitles users to a sense of community, and allows them to share your blog with their other social network friends pretty easily. I also use the wall, and it provides a nice means of communication (in multiple languages!) amongst my readers on a blog-wide scale, more than comments on a single post can provide.
- Jesse Stay
Rahsheen - have a look at the gadget gallery at http://www.google.com/friendc... for more ways for your readers to interact; bear in mind that developers can write new gadgets that help them socialize
- Kevin Marks
Looks like I was the 4th person to joining the Google Friend Connect for your blog... Never used it before... :D
- David Damore
Look like I'm the only one that signed in with my Twitter ID..
- Orli Yakuel
I have never used Google Friend Connect but I guess I use these services differently then most people, I use Facebook to communicate with close friends and family, and all the other services to interact with the world... I honestly think that Facebook should stick with the close friends idea and focus on cleaning it up some, let twitter and friendfeed and anyone else battle it out for all the other connections... but then I am of the mindset that a service should do one thing really well instead of trying to be all encompassing.
- Nathan McClain
There is a wordpress plugin for FriendConnect, can you use that together with Disqus so people can login and post comments using FriendConnect as well?
- Charbax
FriendConnect should interact and share subscribers/members with FriendFeed, that would be cool.
- Charbax
Nice...just added myself. I put it at the bottom while I test it and figure out what I can really do with it. Just testing the waters right now.
- Jamie Ginsberg
Robert : you can try as well the comments box its working gr8
- Johni Fisher
I just noticed that the Google Component and the friendfeed components are the same color scheme. Heheh.
- Robert Scoble
wow... id never really played with friend connect before... i see that you can publish activities to a stream (opt in) and they're accessible on any site youve connected too. I'm starting to get where google's headed and I like it.
- Frankie Warren
Is there any way to moderate the comments that people add to Google Friend Connect?
- Mathew Packer
Matthew: I think I can. I have a trash can for each comment. Want to leave me a test that I'll trash?
