Zen thought for the morning: you choose your followers by choosing who you will follow.
I really wish folks would get that concept. I get so tired of people obsessing over who is following, who is not, who unfollowed, how many, etc, etc. Follow quality, attract quality. - Karoli
Totally agree with this - Michael Broukhim
Karoli: exactly, which is why I don't autofollow anymore (turned that off earlier this year over on Twitter). I hand pick who I follow here and only am looking to follow smart, interesting, people. By being choosy with my inputs I will have better output, which you can see at http://www.friendfeed.com/scoblei... - Robert Scoble
You'll get from Twitter what you give to Twitter - paul mooney
Goes back to actions speak louder than words. Look at who a person associates with to get the honest truth about that person. - David Bisset (sn)
Wow! How true! - rampantheart
I think I need caffeine to properly parse this. :) - ha3rvey (chee-la-key-les)
<sarcasm> but how do we keep score then? How will I know if I'm winning? </sarcasm> - Brian Roy
Robert, top of the morning to you! - Mike Fruchter
Brian: heaven will be attained when you have a perfect list of people you want to follow. :-) - Robert Scoble
ha3rvey: I need coffee too. Mike, it is a stunning morning here in Half Moon Bay. I think I'll post a photo of the clouds going by. - Robert Scoble
Sometimes the obvious truth is not so obvious. I thoroughly enjoy my experience here because I chose (and choose) to follow those whose content I find interesting. And by filteriing out the content I don't find interesting. - MVB (Curmudgeon of FF)
Oddly, was having this same discussion about following vs. followers on another site yesterday. Some people oddly obsess with how many followers they have. I'm focused on finding and following interesting people. - Sally Church
I follow who I follow because they are worth following - TO ME - which is arbitrary and completely subjective. I refuse to waste any time crafting my content to attract followers because who follows me is largely arbitrary and subjective. - Brian Roy
Brian: then you'll get arbitrary and subjective followers, which explains why I am following you. :-) - Robert Scoble
Yeah, but I'm here for the arbitrary and subjective - If I just wanted to hear what I already think I could just stick up post it notes all day and congratulate myself on how smart I am :) - Brian Roy
Brian: isn't that what Twitter is for? :-) - Robert Scoble
Arbitrary, subjective and often whimsical. That's my take and I'm sticking to it. I'm amazed people want to listen to me. I'm much more interested in what other folks have to say. Especially smart ones. - Karoli
Too bad my "smartest" thoughts show up in the shower or other places I wouldn't use a laptop at. :-p - Amit Morson
My Zen thought for the morning: focus on your inner creative conservation, and forget the rest. - Sean McBride
Very deep Robert :) - Nicola Quinn
*nods* It's all about simplicity: don't think TOO much, people! - Iain Baker
@Robert In the last few weeks, for some reason, I've doubled my Twitter followers. Some have even expressed an expectation of interesting tweets. Do I now have a responsibility to provide interesting content? - MVB (Curmudgeon of FF)
If you book them... They will come... :) - Daniel Zarick
The science of "Followership"? http://tinyurl.com/5k39j7 Some key points. The Leader-Follower loop: Leaders create followers create leaders. - Mac Taylor
Mark: Tweet your passions and pass along the best of the people who you are following and more followers will come. :-) If you stop, no one will notice because someone else will take your spot up on the Twitter page. - Robert Scoble
I always have tweeted my passions, but I seldom have recommended a new follow. I shall endeavor mor of that. Thanks for the tip! - MVB (Curmudgeon of FF)
Robert, have become so involved in the tasty morsels here have forgotten to keep tweeting my passions. Duh... thanks for the reminder. - Nicola Quinn
I had this thought this weekend actually and decided to do some purging of "noise" (thanks Godin). Makes for a much better friendfeed experience as well. - WiseYoda (aka Patrick)
Perfection is achieved not when there is no-one left to follow, but when there is no-one left to un-follow. ... Wait. That sounds wrong. Needs work. - DGentry
Thanks for that, Robert. Really wish sometimes people would stop trying to beat quality with quantity. - Paul Papadimitriou
Don't follow me. Follow Jesus. - Andy C
I'll second Paul Papadimitriou here. Quality matters but sometimes you have to follow for some time before deciding if you want to stick with it. - sofiagk
