Not to mention, if you really do care about how many followers you have you better spend a LOT more time on who you are following. Why? Great input increases the chance of great output. Of course, in terms of Augmented Cognition, the interesting thing to me is what is happening IN YOUR BRAIN. How you abstract, conceptualize, and interact with the firehose is unique; and people experience that. There appears to be a "detached intimacy" that seems compelling to others. The numbers are kind of a pre-requisite to a certain kind of experience into which we're all just hurtling headlong; and we don't yet have enough models and variations on that experience to make more progress in this area. - michael silverton

For those who may not know, or haven't noticed, Loic Le Meur is exerting similar uberhuman energy in the context of the Video Firehose. There's a good argument for making the statement that Le Meur is the Scoble of the video firehose. It takes a massive amount of time to "snack" on video, and tools like BloggingHeads.tv 1.4x playback, or 12seconds.tv help that a lot; however, video cannot be sidelined from this explosive expansion of human connectivity and cognition.
