Robert Scoble
Sometime today I will pass 25,000 followers on friendfeed. That's in about 11 months. Thank you for putting up with my noise!
Dude, don't you just wake up some days and go, "WTF?" ;-) Or singing Talking Heads, "And you may ask yourself ..." - michael silverton
YUH BE Scoble! : ) - Erhan Erdoğan
michael: it's a weird world I live in, truth be told. I'm about to pass 6,000 people I'm following, too, and I just passed 200 rooms. - Robert Scoble
Congrats Robert. For all our teasing and what not, I'm sure you know FriendFeed wouldn't be the same without you. - FFing Enigma
I thought you did not care about numbers!!!!!! you are funny Robert ;) - Loic Le Meur
Not a problem, Robert. I needed someone to actually make my real time feed move.....alot :P - Korey
*fingers in ears* lala la la la - BEX
Thank you for making noise. :-) - Moushumi Kabir
I think for many, the phenomenon has been feeling like a participant in your whole journey. At least for the old schoolers. Partly, your radical openness and authenticity became an unexpected catalyst; partly, human Mirror Neurons doing the the same job they do when watching a football player make a great catch. :-) - michael silverton
Loic: I never said I don't care about numbers. I just said that worrying about how many followers you have isn't nearly as important as worrying about who you are following. Not to mention, if you really do care about how many followers you have you better spend a LOT more time on who you are following. Why? Great input increases the chance of great output. Crappy input increases the chance of crappy output. Followers gravitate to people who provide great output. :-) - Robert Scoble
What noise? - Simon Wicks
Loic: that is even more true on friendfeed. Which is why I only follow 6,000 people. On Twitter I no longer am autofollowing. If I did do that I'd have way more followers there. At least artificially for a while. Loren Feldman proved that most people are egotistical baaahhhssstttttaaaaarrrrddddssss (me too!) and will follow people back if they get followed. - Robert Scoble
I think you're addicted :) - Adam Jackson
Just wrote about this today - yeah I'm an egotistical baaahhhsssttttaaaaaaarrrrrrrdddddd and pimping my own blog: http://briantroy.com/blog... - Brian Roy
Still figuring it out...but all I can say is that you are engaging in such relevant and interesting discussions, that it just makes sense that people want to listen! - Troy Malone
Idk seems pretty low for being the alpha geek - where are the other geeks there must be millions of them... - mal
Adam: I'm addicted to water and oxygen too. But now there's this thing on my screen that is drawing my attention away from friendfeed. Not good. @god is a drug dealer. An attention drug dealer. - Robert Scoble
hahahhahahahhahahah!!! - Mona Nomura
Of course, in terms of Augmented Cognition, the interesting thing to me is what is happening IN YOUR BRAIN. How you abstract, conceptualize, and interact with the firehose is unique; and people experience that. There appears to be a "detached intimacy" that seems compelling to others. The numbers are kind of a pre-requisite to a certain kind of experience into which we're all just hurtling headlong; and we don't yet have enough models and variations on that experience to make more progress in this area. - michael silverton
Just want to thank you (Robert Scoble) as I learned about FriendFeed and its usefulness through you. Keep up the good work. - Bill Romanos
I always wondered how you could possibly read ALL of the Twitter posts from people you follow yourself. No one should have to read through that many tweets unless they have had a Matrix node implanted in the back of their neck. - Ciaoenrico
Ciaoenrico if you read the New York Times every morning do you read every single word? I don't. I "media snack." Actually I read a LOT more Tweets here in friendfeed. This is a far more useful way to read them. - Robert Scoble
We're supposed to read everything people we follow say? Oh man, forget that. - Mark Trapp
Ciaoenrico&MarkTrapp: it's totally great to use these tools for making friends and being friends; some researchers are increasingly interested in the cognitive possibilities. the "read everything" mandate comes from EGO, the "process everything optimally" mandate comes from COGNITION. only barely scraping together bits here http://friendfeed.com/rooms... for now. - michael silverton
We enjoy your kind of noise! If we didn't we wouldn't follow you. Plus, you let us be part of the conversation. You put up with our noise in return. That's why we follow you Robert. It's a wonderful noisy party! - Mary Wehrle
Thanks Mary, keep it coming! Someday Arrington will pull me off the keyboard, but until then, let's have some fun. - Robert Scoble
+10 Mary: "Wonderful Noise Party." - michael silverton
For those who may not know, or haven't noticed, Loic Le Meur is exerting similar uberhuman energy in the context of the Video Firehose. There's a good argument for making the statement that Le Meur is the Scoble of the video firehose. It takes a massive amount of time to "snack" on video, and tools like BloggingHeads.tv 1.4x playback, or 12seconds.tv help that a lot; however, video cannot be sidelined from this explosive expansion of human connectivity and cognition. It's not either-or, it's both. ;-) - michael silverton
Funny, I have a list with one feed - just has you - and it's called noise. - Hayes Haugen
michael silverton It must be my social media obsessive/compulsive disorder. SMOCD. I SO need to figure out a way to make some cash off of that idea! - Ciaoenrico
Ciaoenrico: The market doesn't have the first clue how to adapt, & possibly cannot adapt to this stage of post-information-age progress http://is.gd/g32o All these trends are interrelated, and I'm working to better articulate how the seemingly unrelated dominoes tumble us toward http://capitalismplusplus.blogspot.com/ and http://usbig.net/ as only sustainable ways to distribute economic Means in wake of Explosively Distributed *Ways* in which we create & exchange significant, instantaneous economic value. - michael silverton
Nice job, Robert. Now you have something for the headstone! - Louis Gray
Put up with??? Huh??!!! I *love* your "noise" that often delivers amazing signal. Thank you Robert ! I just wish I could buy and your family dinner - Susan Beebe
+1 Louis :) - Charlie Anzman
Gee, how do you keep up with all of them? - Sean
I wonder, how homophilous is your network? - Eliot Frick
Awesome. Since you're so famous could you do me a big favor on Twitter? Check out my Tweets and if they pass muster send me some followers so I can get past this @#$%^ 2000 limit that wasted hours of my time today? Anyone interested in improving their ecommerce store or blog and increasing their visibility online may be interested in following me. A quick look at my blog at http://GrowMap.com or a search at Twitter makes it obvious what I share. I will be eternally grateful if you can help. - Internet Strategist
Currently at 25,007. Onward! - Robert Scoble
Onward! Now what would life possibly be without your freets! (FriendFeed + tweets) - David Feng
I didn't know that many people were on FriendFeed. Very cool. - Brandon Mendelson
Brandon: I only have about 1/10th to 1/20th of who is on friendfeed. - Robert Scoble
Hey, we all listen to each other. here. - Richard A.
Amazing. I have not met many who have jumped on board yet, so it is very encouraging to here so many folks are on here. And if I did not say it, congrats are in order. - Brandon Mendelson
Maybe your stream is rather musical than noisy, Robert. Well done! - Alexandros Georgiadis
