that you tube is 9 minutes of bad PR Motrin .. like someone said "the CEO is gonna need some Motrin for Monday Am "
- johnpiercy
Motrin, Motrin, Motrin. Proof there is no bad publicity. I went and watched their ad online which is a win. Also, It didn't really offend me but rather impressed me with it's beautiful motion graphics.
- Andrew Smith
I don't know, it didn't seem that insulting to me, but I'm not a mom. It's not like smarmy ads are anything new.
- Aram Zucker-Scharff
Amazes me people still buy Motrin at all. The generic/off-brand ibuprofen is so much cheaper... as for the ad... it seems to be targeted at Jamie Lynn Spears.
- Michael W. May
MWM, I think there are a lot of people who don't realize that the generic brand is literally the same thing. They think they're getting something better/extra by buying the name brand. It's not like name brand vs. off-brand soda or something where there actually is a difference.

this is what happens when you leave PR/Marketing people unsupervised
- Jeff Douglass
Yeah, yeah, yeah, but does liquid ibuprofen work better than solid? Oh, wait, why don't I ask the people I work with?
- MiniMage (FakeLifePerson)
Great post and I'll use it on my healthblog:) Pretty funny actually that the picked baby carriers:)
- Barbara Duck
@Jeff, as a PR/Marketing person, I'd say that's a blanket statement. Motrin screwed up for sure, but I can't believe nobody at any stage didn't see how this was going to be a problem.
- Louis Gray
I actually think it's going to backlash on social media. :/ There's already a growing disinterest/distrust, which is complicated to explain. I don't know. I don't think they meant it maliciously. I think this is going to work against not for, unfortunately.
- Patricia
@Patricia, given the Web site is for Web consumers, and social media people are among the most avid Web consumers, they can be essentially a noisy focus group. This is less a social media story than it is a PR/Marketing/Brand Management story on a social media outlet.
- Louis Gray
@Louis, I understand. I'm a 10+ PR executive who has worked for consumer facing sites as well as back end companies like those listed in your bio. I also was an early marketer on the web since before 2004, leveraging communities to promote products, was/am a journalist. I founded, funded (in 2004) and later sold what some say was the first social community/media site in fashion - I don't know but it has sparked lots of other sites since. I get what you're saying, I just don't agree :) Let's agree to disagree.
- Patricia
Well, now the server appears dead :)
- Victor Ganata
Not getting the outrage (I'm single and childless so that probably matters). Enzyte Bob ads and "hip/urban" ads offend me more on a daily basis.
- Robert Haas
How about that stupid Extenze commercial that is all over, too?
- Brendhan Givens
I do not see anything significantly offensive about this add, I really do not know what all of the fuss is about. There are plenty of ads that would be considered significantly more insulting to ones intelligence, gender, race or social group and they run endlessly on TV, Radio and the Web without a peep of protest from anyone.
