Newbie to social media sites, great tip! Thnx

I don't know. I confirmed the email address with vthe Twitter rep, she said log in, I tried and it didn't work. Still mystified. I can see the account but I can't log in.

I'm sure people have suggested this before but FF needs a comment system like Diggs. Manually typing in a username to reply to them is really clunky. Reply's to comments should generate collapsible threads underneath the comment. In addition, a like/dislike button will allow for quickly finding the great information within the comments.
I'm with Kol on that one.. however, I still advocate that there should be a 'love' or 'superlike' button :)
- Kim
Kol/Kim: I agree to an extent. I think it depends on the conversation and what's it about. A lot of times, comments contain opinion relating to the post and are not factual in nature. In that sense maybe a agree/disagree would be more appropriate. In any event, I don't see like/dislike as being negative or literally meaning what the words convey. I think they stand for whatever you want...

If you don't like something then you are free to comment, to promote anything negative is not what I'd really like to see on FriendFeed. Still no to any 'dislike' button. :-)
- Kol Tregaskes
Kim, a star/fav icon would be welcome but for the purpose of tracking those entries (which could appear on a separate page, like "My Tracked Posts"). :-)
- Kol Tregaskes
Kol: gotcha :) yeah I can definitely see the downside to it....It could great a dynamic that might not be positive.
- Mike Bracco
Yep, how would you feel if one of your posts get all dislikes? ;-)
- Kol Tregaskes
Kol: I use the air app to notify me on updates to any article I comment on or like.
- Mike Bracco
Mike, sure and you can view all them in My Discussions but other people have all sorts of uses for the 'like' button. A separate button for tracking a select few threads so you can view them later when things have died down would be nice.
- Kol Tregaskes
Kol: yeah I here...might create a more standoffish FF instead of one that creates useful dialogue between people
- Mike Bracco
Kol: I wish there was a "Read article later" button. I use the like button for that now but I also like stuff I am not looking to read later.
- Mike Bracco
I think at the same way of Kol: for me no like is equal to dislike. For the other thing, underneath the comment could be good for some thread but not good for others. For example, in a typical thread of Scobleizer with one million of comments, inderneath them is impossible and unreadable
- Roberto (postoditacco)
Kol, I like the star/fav icon idea as I seem to use the 'like' function more to track things I want to remember or highlight, rather than me actually 'liking' it.. sometimes there are things that I really think are awesome and that's where I would use the 'superlike' function... I would also like to 'like' other ppl's comments without having to +1 in a later comment..
- Kim
Yep, and you can hide it too but, of course, that is for your own purpose.
- Kol Tregaskes
Mike, I see what you're getting at, it's not so much a 'dislike' rather than a 'I dont agree'.. I guess I'm just used to the negativity associated with the word dislike...
- Kim
Kim: yeah, after thinking about it, I think the disagreement would be better executed as a comment underneath the comment you disagree with instead of a simple dislike button.
- Mike Bracco
Kim, yep we all have different uses for the 'like feature. It's also a way to simply share to your friends. A separate tracking button would be cool. Of course any additions could complicate things or make things messy so extras like this need to be kept to the minimal or implemented appropriate. :-)

HELP PRsarahevans get her Facebook page back! She has a Facebook group for this at: http://www.facebook.com/group... Her account disappeared 2 days ago, and her friends miss her (she has a LOT of them!) If you know who to get in touch with, please let me know, comment here, or send her a tweet ( @PRsarahevans ) There must be a way to resolve this for her.
There is no twitte limit, how ever you only can follow 1000 people/day or 100 API calls..as I read on there help section, there is no other limit. However I unable to follow more than 200 people/day. I asked them about this and they yet not replied. It's over 3 week now.
- Arafat Hossain Piyada
I also "asked Twitter" - my legitimate account was "suspended" .. Twitter on designated email for that is not responding /months now/.... any advice on this? ...thanks
- Petr Buben
I think when you hit the two thousand follower limit, you cant follow more people until twitter 'unlocks' your account - that is kin dof weird.

Friendfeed Rooms/Groups for Live bIogging? I and a team of live bloggers will be live blogging an event tomorrow called JEEcamp. I have been playing with the idea of setting up a Friendfeed Room(Group), what do you think?
Gina says: "My post on what people love and hate about netbooks, sourced entirely from Twitter replies, took me hours to compile manually, because Twitter doesn’t easily list replies to a particular “tweet” in a very readable or republishable format." Gina has started work on some code that will make this easier, but friendfeed already has this feature, sort of.

edit: This problem has been solved! - Youtube account was suspended by mistaken DMCA takedown on official 6 months old Seth Macfarlane cartoon mashup contest. Robert Scoble, someone, please help me with this (rt)! http://www.techdirt.com/article...
Thanks to your help on friendfeed, my account has been restored! My Youtube account has been restored! I am happy! You can see the video that triggered this suspension for the last two days http://www.youtube.com/watch...

awesome, I don't think I did anything.

i disagree with your opinion, its already superior. so unless you are using multiple accounts here on FF, you will have to use FF a bit longer to form a better opinion of the service. Furthermore, I will use your own words against you: "I have never really used Friendfeed in any really engaging way." Once you become a bit more active and engaged you will see how its far superior in just about every way. Also, Welcome To FF.
- Carlos Ayala
I really hope so. I don't know what you want to prove by pointing out that I haven't used friendfeed for very long, so can't comment on that. Friendfeed is fairly simple so it doesn't take long to understand what it does. But what I know is that, especially bloggers and news reporters, frequently use responses they get to questions posed on twitter in their final stories. Such responses...

I truly like that you are able to have a full conversation with friendFeed and not worry about going over your 140 characters. A plus on friendFeed.

@Kasper - I think Carlos was trying to point out that since you haven't used the service for very long you may not realize what the benefits are compared to Twitter. FriendFeed has a loyal following and community, many of who prefer it to Twitter for their day to day communication with others online, and take offense to Twitter being referred to as superior since that is a very relative...

Sorry to be so frank, but Twitter BLOWS. ;-)
- Brad Williamson
@Lindsay D. Thanks for your thoughts, I knew this would spark a debate just by the wording I used in the headline. I also anticipated that my comment would be tweaked towards an anti friendfeed thing. Even though I haven't used the service for very long doesn't mean that my opinion is wrong or ill supported, I don't think so anyway. Maybe that's the real reason why twitter is still more...

My take on blogging since joining FriendFeed is that it's not nearly as attractive as it once was. I get much more interaction here than I ever did on my blog, and I've noticed that I'm not the only one here who has ended up basically abandoning their blog (which is difficult to get traffic to and limits you to a small number of topics in order to cultivate an "audience") in favor of...

@Linsday D. That's a very fair point. As you will see from my other entries, I too believe that friendfeed and twitter suits different audiences, or rather, that there's a place for both of them. Indicating that I was comparing apples and oranges isn't really a fair observation, considering you read my follow-up comments. But an interesting take, that friendfeed is trying to steer away...

Interesting in your post you say "To me it suggests that people expect more intimacy on Twitter than they do on friendfeed, or that Twitter users expects some kind of selective sharing, where on friendfeed you are expected to share everything by default." I find it quite the opposite... I don't prefer Twitter because it feels much more like a simple broadcast medium to me. Unless...

I think most twitter users do monitor their @replies actively, or as actively as you are monitoring your discussions here on friendfeed. And you don't have to be subscribed to someone to send them an @reply, or for them to respond. It's interesting though, that twitter might be seen as a broadcasting medium, considering the technical knowledge required to set it up to be (like rss...

Here's an interesting thought that I've seen come up from time to time with regard to FF and blogs. It would be cool to have some sort of two way link between a blog entry and the FF post that "announces" it, so comments on the FF post show up on the blog and comments on the blog show up as comments on the FF post. It would allow for more meaningful conversation if more people can engage without all having to comment in one place.
- Andy Kruger
I think, now I'm thinking about it, from now on I'll post a comment to any new blog posts I make with a link back to the related FF post. I think I sould do the same on my Flickr photos too.
- Andy Kruger
I think that will be coming. I think it' already happening some places. For example when you comment on readwriteweb you have the option of sending it to friendfeed as well. I also think that some services like Disqus do this with Twitter reactions, so I see no reason why it wouldn't be comming to friendfeed as well.

One thing that has always seemed odd to me on Twitter is that when you send an @reply to one person it feels like you are spamming all your other subscribers who weren't part of that conversation. On FriendFeed if you comment on something the whole conversation pops up in your feed but you may not know why... If the conversation isn't interesting to you, you just scroll past it, but the...

@Lindsay, I can assuage your anguish in this regard a bit :) Unless your followers have taken the proactive step of changing their default setting to "Show all @ replies", they will only see those that you sent to someone they were also following. Which kind of sucks as a default if you ask me, as a lot of people are missing out on good conversations. The default understanding on...

How can I easily explain the advantages of using FriendFeed for discussions, compared to LinkedIn groups discussions? Anybody knows some specific presentation/ argumentation? Thanks in advance! Some advantages that I know: ownership of my comments; granularity; streaming other information (RSS)
