Re: Not Even Kim Kardashian Can Save Blackberry - http://www.benheyman.com/even-ki...
"True, a celebrity spokesperson can't save them. And I'm not aware that Kim Kardashian is serving that role; her Code/Mobile appearance didn't indicate she's a spokesperson - just a loyal customer. What can save them - and it appears that the ship is turning - is Blackberry's focus on business customers and security. They don't have to compete with the iPhones and Androids for consumer market share (nor can they), but they've got a solid footing in many corporate settings already. With all of the concerns around data breaches, security and the like, Blackberry's core strength remains." - Scott Monty

"Great comments, Matt. Agree with all of them - particularly with point #3. We need to focus on behaviors to make the customer experience better. And I'm still not convinced that social media (I used the term again - sorry!) belongs squarely in marketing. I think that's what has led us to where we are today, and the silos need to be broken down organizationally and structurally in organizations." - Scott Monty

Re: What Is It That We Love in Sherlock Holmes? - I Hear of Sherlock Everywhere - http://www.ihearofsherlock.com/2014...
"Interesting thesis. With regard to making Holmes fallible and relatable, I'd argue that the essential catalyst there was none other than Dr. Watson himself. For it is he who is the Everyman, the lens through which we meet and greet Sherlock Holmes. It is Watson's interpretation and response that mirrors our own." - Scott Monty

Re: Joan Rivers: Why Johnny Carson 'Never Ever Spoke to Me Again' - http://edit.hollywoodreporter.com/node...
"Joan's take is decidedly one-sided. She left out a key point about Johnny: she called him only the night before the press conference to announce her new show. After two decades of being on Johnny's show, she didn't let him in on the opportunity to share her news regarding hosting the Fox show until just before it was going public. And this was during the time that she was undergoing negotiations to continue as guest host on the Tonight Show. And she even asked his executive producer, Peter Lassally, to represent her at the press conference, assuming that he would be her producer (without even consulting him). It was only after calling Peter - again, the night before the announcement of her new show - that she called Johnny. Still, she was a great talent and her absence from television and the stage is a huge loss." - Scott Monty

Re: Langham Hotel Incorrectly Claims to Be Sherlock Holmes' Birthplace - http://www.ihearofsherlock.com/2014...
"Only one out of the 14 Rathbone/Bruce movies concerned the Nazis and therefore supported the war effort. Outside of Adventures and Hound, the rest were pastiches that were set in modern day London and therefore we're not Canonically correct. Bruce's Watson was a caricature that did more long-term damage to Watson than it helped. I wouldn't go putting all of your Sherlockian eggs in one basket. Sherlock Holmes is many things to many people. The fact that he continues to be relevant and evolves for every generation is something that can't be ignored. I'm sorry that certain of today's Sherlocks and Watsons don't meet with your personal approval, but that doesn't mean others can't get satisfaction from them. And remember, it was Sir Arthur Conan Doyle himself who said, "You may marry him, murder him, or do whatever you like with him."" - Scott Monty

Re: This Week in Content Marketing: Weird Al’s Diabolically Brilliant Strategy - http://contentmarketinginstitute.com/2014...
"Hey guys - a word of thanks for the coverage in this week's episode. I wanted to congratulate you for your astute deductive reasoning about my departure. That was indeed part of it, as well as the fact that I had accomplished much of what I set out to do going to Ford. Heading to "the dark side," as you call it, is nothing new to me. I came from agency life before I went to Ford, so it should be quite familiar territory, albeit it with vastly superior people now. I'm looking forward to being able to take the vast lessons I learned within a corporate behemoth and put those to use across a wide variety of clients. Also, this will do nothing to diminish my public speaking appearances. Quite the opposite, in fact. Ford had clamped down on my activities, seeing little value in them, and SHIFT is looking to capitalize on my ability to captivate audiences with great storytelling. And of course, Content Marketing World is the first place I'm going to put that to use!" - Scott Monty
