Probably. I think Mattel would have used 33 1/3 or 45 RPM originally, just to use an off-the-shelf motor design, and then 33 1/3 would provide a longer loop time. Annoyingly, somebody was giving away an Optigan on Craigslist a few weeks ago and ended up giving it to someone who called after we did.

This is awesome. I just used it to figure out where Theremin played with the Orchestra in 1929 (Answer: Masonic Hall. Additionally, he did a demonstration a year and a half earlier)

The grammars must be different. In German, it is trying to pronounce each word, but in English to English, it treats each letter as a pronounceable word, like you would pronounce an abbreviation, e.g. http. In other words, the English grammars are better, because most of computational linguistics is still very English -centric.

I tried probably 20 different languages, even similar ones like Dutch, and didn't get anywhere near similar results.

This reminds me of the machine that had to run sans case in order to keep the Cleveland Freenet working during its last few months of existance.

Obviously this is because they listened to the reissue of my album released on Sunday, which sampled UVB-76. I'm pretty sure they're telling me it's awesome ;-)
