That looks like a fun project for a weekend or two!

I thought $80 referred to all the components at first, which I found extremely hard to believe. I built some cabinets and shelves in Spencer. It took quite awhile, but they turned out pretty well in the end. I never drew up any plans. I just kind of thought it up as I went along.

Another interesting place I'd like to visit sometime. Maybe if I ever do the Trans-Labrador Highway trip I keep wanting to do, this would be a side stop.

"The central belief in the Church is the pursuit of Slack, which generally stands for the sense of freedom, independence, and original thinking that comes when you achieve your personal goals. The Church states that we are all born with Original Slack, but that Slack has been stolen from us by a worldwide conspiracy of normal people, or "pinks".[12] The Church encourages originality and frowns on actions seen as pinkness, which happens when one bows down to authority and the accepted limits of society. Slack is also about doing nothing and getting what you want anyway. "Bob" being the center of the Slack plane cannot fail, even his failures are startling successes as a result of his absurdly high Slack"

Did you ever make it to one of the devivals?
- Paul Buchheit
Be careful though: "A Texas woman has lost custody of her son, not even being allowed to write to him, because she was involved in activities of the Church of the Subgenius. Although her son never attended any of the events, which involved fun, nudity, and good old-fashioned blasphemy, a New York judge, James P. Punch, allegedly a "strict catholic", has denied custody of the child Kohl...

No, I seem to recall there was on in Cleveland but I didn't make it for some reason. I should have gone. It seems like the used to play the "hour or slack" on wruw or maybe csu's station. There was some great quote about how you can have whatever you want and all you have to do is want whatever was going to happen anyway, or something like that.
- Paul Buchheit
George is a Reverend in the Church of the Subgenius. His license plate says "My Slack".
- Gabe
I thought you did go to the devival at CIA, Paul? It was a long time ago, so I don't remember it that clearly. Hour Of Slack is still on WCSB every Sunday night, and is now locally produced, since Rev. Stang moved to Cleveland a few years back - I see him around town on rare occasion.

"CANCELLATION UPDATE: Depeche Mode has been forced to cancel their scheduled appearance on Wednesday, August 12th at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, California due to doctor's orders that lead singer Dave Gahan be on complete vocal rest for 48 hours. Because of their busy schedule, a new Bay Area date will not be rescheduled this year."

They have been having the worst luck ever so far on this tour.
- Sam Harmon
I almost got tickets for that show. It was going to be a b-day present for the hubster. 200 miles over the mountains and a night in Mt. View. Somehow, something told me to get him something else, instead.

KITTY!!!!!!!!!!! I made ice cream today for the first time! Chocolate peanut butter with chocolate covered pretzels, using coconut milk. Pretty amazing

What are you going to plant? Do you problems with animals (is that what the fence is for)?
- Robert Felty
Haven't totally decided what to plant yet- tomatoes and peppers are a certainty, but I'm not sure about anything else yet. We have a fair number of deer and the occasional groundhog who have caused problems in the past.

I have one that sat in a snow drift for months. Miraculously, it almost sort of boots up now. I really should just recycle it, but I can't help but think there is some kind of use for it.

OMG this is going to give me a nightmare! That sucks big time April.
- BEX
on the bright side... you get to get a new 3GS :)
- Bindu Reddy
if only the touchscreen is cracked...$60 gets you a replacement. if the display was damaged as well, then the replacement is approx $150-175. (DIY)
- Carlos Ayala
It's grotesquely beautiful, in a way.
- Josh Haley
Oh dear, looks like you *need* to order a 3gS.... :-)
- Mark Hendy
Oh dear, quite the opposite. It's time to upgrade to a non iphone glass slab. Get a real phone, where they can afford buttons and functions for when you're not online :-)
- Richard A.
I had this happen to me less than two weeks after I got my first one (about a year ago) and had to go buy a new one. I wish I had known about the $60 touchscreen replacement option Carlos mentions above. Not one told me that then. It is all the more reason to get a good case.
- Ragani Harris
Oh, no! My phone looked like that earlier this year. I eventually found a place that replaced the screen for about $140 in 5 minutes. Cheaper than going to Apple!
- Bryan Person
I've seen a couple of those in person. It's one reason I used to disparage the iPhone so much; my HTC phones bounced quite a bit before they lost functionality. The iPhone wins in that the cracked/shattered screen still knows where you're pressing, whereas all of my non-phone touchscreen devices were useless with even a small crack in the corner. I bought a case for my second-hand iPhone right away, and it's bounced just fine several times.

I suppose it depends on the buyer. A Beatles fan would likely pay more for a Lennon, whereas a hardcore communist might prefer the Lenin-signed model. A Theremin signed by Lenin (who was given a personal demonstration by Theremin himself) would be interesting to consider.
- Sam Harmon
Somebody watched Royal Pains last night.. Lennon because I don't know who Lenin is. [:
- Alex
Well, if it's coffee grounds or beans, then they won't stay fresh in time to all be used. If it's liquid, then make your own for way cheaper
- Becca
So nobody knows how much a gallon of coffee costs?
- Gabe
coffee sold by the lb. how many lbs. per gallon, please?
- Marg Uerite
Well, let's do the math. I pay $1.85 for a 20 oz. cup when I occasionally buy it at work. That works out to 9.25 cents per ounce, or $11.84 per gallon. Working out the price per gallon when I make it at home will require more work/thought.
