On August 30th, 2008, NPR and other news sources reported that thirty mostly favorable changes were made to Palin's Wikipedia biography, one day before her official nomination, leading to suggestions that either she or her supporters had "scrubbed" her entry. - LPH
Palin's administration is currently suing the US Department of the Interior over the recent listing of the Alaskan polar bear as a "threatened" species, due to the state of the bears' natural habitat, the arctic ice shelf[Palin points out that the population of polar bears has increased over the last 30 years, and that Alaska already has protections for the polar bear under the Marine Mammal Protection Act.She also says that the new regulation could potentially stifle the development of Alaska's vast oil and gas resources - LPH
They also added to her "experience" by stating she minored in political science while attending the University of Idaho. - LPH
Statement on marijuana was removed. Used to say "She admits that, when marijuana was legal in the state, she used it; however, she didn't like it. " - LPH
She can ball. Who knew? Now she needs to hire a former college basketball star to be her personal assistant on the campaign trail. - Julian
I wonder if there is video of her playing basketball - LPH
I agree about edits. Here's another one for the fire: http://tinyurl.com/5jwjel Wikipedia is losing credibility very quickly the more people find out about it and try to manipulate it to their advantage. - Vincent Ferrari
"she used it; however, she didn't like it" - i guess we know she's a liar! ;) - Chris Martin
Now that I think about it, I could do with about 10 more options :) - John Worthington
I have yet to discover someone who: 1. is passionate about photography 2. lives near me *AND* 3. wouldn't mind teaching me to share their passion. When I do, I think I can revisit this post. Liking to be able to do so. - Michael J Cohen
New Zealand, New Zealand, New Zealand :-D - Kol Tregaskes
@jerry Petra is in Jordan. Amazing to walk down the Siq and have the treasury appear from nowhere. I have traveled to lots of the places mentioned and my biggest regret is not doing more people shots. They have so much character but I don't have the confidence to photograph, especially in a Muslim country. - CJPhoto
Chernobyl (city), the abandoned V-2 rocket base at Peenemünde, and the reefs around Rotan. - Chris Baskind
When I worked in the camera store processing photos the best photos came from Alaska and Africa. Those are still the two places I want to visit that I haven't yet visited. - Robert Scoble
That's tough one...Egypt, Greece, and China...as of now. :) - emon hassan
I'm surprised that Phelps keeps his facial hair... I thought swimmers want to take off every hair they can, short of like, eyelashes & eyebrows. guess it's not creating so much drag for him, though... - Kamilah Gill
Me too, I thought "drag" was really critical when you hear tales of swimmers shaving arm and leg hair. Phelps is a man who plays by his own rules, and still wins... - Robert Seidman
uh, phelps has *no* facial hair in Beijing. - Scott Jarkoff
Although it certainly sounds like you're right form your description, your case is stronger without the use of the word asshole. Just a thought. ;) - Erin McMahon
Pitiful. Makes me wonder if you have a discrimination case here too. Why were folks with P&S not harassed? - Kevin C. Tofel
Maybe Erin, but the guy was an asshole and I'm pissed about it. I gave him every opportunity to sit down and discuss my photography and he refused. This is not a way to treat a paying member of the museum and I don't feel that this sort of powertrippy behavior should be tolerated. Sometimes I get mad. - Thomas Hawk
Wow, that is effing ridiculous! Sorry you were subjected to that bullshit. - Anna Haro
First the SF zoos have animals that maul patrons, now the museums are inept as well. Personally, I can't park anywhere in that town w/o getting a ticket. Eff SF. - Pete Delucchi
I read that story and just cant believe that people can be so blatantly rude and obnoxious while also being totally WRONG! - Manny
@TH I'd be mad too, as of course you have every right to be! I don't doubt that he was, in fact, an asshole. I'd just hate to see your calling him one work against you. Maybe an unfounded concern. (Sry- don't mean to be critical.) - Erin McMahon
Remind me the next time I find myself in San Francisco not to visit the MOMA. This is just plain ridiculous and Blint should be fired by the board... - David's View
wow ... this really sucks ... post dugg @ Digg - Steve Holden
Thomas, if this happens to a photog/blogger of your stature, I can't imagine what would happen to others in the same situation. Shall we start a petition or a boycott? Story in SFist or SFBG? This has to stop. - Richard Walker
Thomas, I love your photography, I envy your perceptions. This dude reminds me of so many petty bureaucrats I've run into over the years and run over as often as possible. There are hundreds of ways to correct the error the museum made in hiring this person. It appears you're supported in either in person or in spirit from the majority of your fellow Freindfeeders. - Jack Carlson
I say you get some big, fast glass and shoot through the front door from across the street. Email him the pictures. - Brian Norwood
Erin that was my first comment exactly . While completely justified a more dignified adjective would yield the same attention & more accurately represent the man I have the pleasure of snuggleing with ever night. - Mrsth
people don't understand good glass. My walking around lens is a 24-70 on my D700. Whenever I walk in the room someone makes a comment about how big it is. Sure it is a big lens physically but not as large as most super zoom point and shoot cameras. - gfurry
Wow. That's just awful. I'm sorry to hear that. I know one place to avoid when I go visiting. I hope you get an apology at the *very* least from them. Do keep us updated. - Candace Holly
what a f**cking retard. Not letting you take photos... "Granted". Treating a visitor that way. FAIL. (Dugg) . - Chris Farrugia
Oh, and organize a photowalk at MOMA :D - Chris Farrugia
As a amateur photographer that uses a DSLR, I always carry a copy of http://www.krages.com/phoright... Many people are ignorant about the rights of a person to use a camera. As the museum's own website allows use of photography, I think you should contact the Museum's director and go over this person's head. - Jack Wilson, K4SAC
Search for the term "Simon Blint" in Google now. He fully deserves it and there could be no better way to teach him a lesson. - Sudar
Thomas, wow this is terrible! The SF MOMA policy on photography is clear, so hearing that you were forced out after taking photos is really hideous!! This complaint has got to reach the ears of the folks running SF MOMA so they can take appropriate action. "Protect the employees"...yeah right! What a tragedy! - Susan Beebe
Reprehensible. That was one scathingly good blog post, Thomas. - Donna Mugavero
@firestar9s (Erin), his case isn't stronger without the use of "asshole." And this is what strong language is for. - Tanath
@thomashawk himself knows if he did the right thing, the feelings in his stomach, if there is an aftershock, will tell him if he went too far. not the mental justification, but the feelings are the truth of the matter. - Gregory Lent
@peterdawson I don't have a 'bone to pick' with Thomas, I just want to ensure we've all thought about the long term impacts this has to online reputations. Thomas is a friend, in fact my profile pic is one he took, and I'll always be thanksful - Jeremiah Owyang
@Jeremiah, thats what friends are for.. to pick bones with. its literally means "if you have a bone to pick with someone, you are annoyed about something they have done and want to tell them how you feel." , IMHO, thats a precise defination of the terms. Pls tell the that "... but is it necessary to tag Simon an a-hole? Did Thomas (and SFMoma) act in accordance to..". NOW to me you r bone picking - Peter Dawson
I understand and appreciate Jeremiah's concern and respect his opinion and he is a friend. I'm passionate about photographer's rights and abuse of authority though. I'm not sure how many of you have been somehow infringed on for photography in the past, but I bet it's a lot of you actually. As someone who shoots every day I pretty much see it happen to me every week. Standing up for our rights and blogging the most egregious cases though is a way to stand up for something that I very much believe in. - Thomas Hawk
oh you are cruel to send that to him in sweden. don't forget the free refills on the strawberry lemonade and those thick, salted, steak fries. I'm just saying. - Ruth Ferguson
I didn't know Red Robin was other than in Tacoma, WA - how cool is that! - Cheryl Allin via NoiseRiver
Hmm... Red Robin for dinner... they're <5 mins from me. - Louie
OH Dude, that's close! Actually, it's a lot faster to get to Clifton from Hackensack than it is from the Holland Tunnel! Jersey is THE most confusing place EVER - Mona N.
we just own all the highways... and they all connect - Stefan Hayden
Wait, have you heard of the place in Jersey that serves the 12lb burger? I went and tried to eat it... LOL brb w/ pictures - Mona N.
I work in midtown on 35th if anyone ever wants to get lunch - Stefan Hayden
12lb burgers? not fuddruckers? I hate that place - Stefan Hayden
I'm no longer in the east =(. But one of my FAVORITE Korean restaurants is on 36th and Ave. of Americas.. omg I miss NYC - Mona N.
hmm.. which one.. I don't remember a korean resturant - Stefan Hayden
Mona: Jeebus!! I could probably kill the patty, it's the other stuff that would kill me. Starving children in Africa could live off of that thing for a month. - Louie
this is the best friendfeed comment thread ever - Stefan Hayden
@Mona...Kum Gang San? I freaking love that place if thats what you are talking about... - Carlos Ayala
Carlos: the lunch place, is actually the supermarket that sells cold bibimbap! And my FAVORITE Korean place is actually in Fort Lee, NJ LOL - Mona N.
Louie: I challenged that on my own. If the bun wasn't so gross, I would've TOTALLY killed it. - Mona N.
yeay NJ... i love this place so much... I love the thai food place in downtown hackensack - Stefan Hayden
@Mona I want that burger! And the bibimbap! I have a huge jar of kimchee smelling up the fridge too! Damn, I'm hungry! - Josh Haley
@Mona 12lb burger? Pfft, next time go to PA and try to tackle this 123lb monstrosity. Or even their 50+lb one. ;-) http://dennysbeerbarrelpub.com... - saeba
there is a point where it stops beng food, Larry - Stefan Hayden
There's a sushi-go-round there too, called damn.. I forgot the name. But they have half off tuna mondays. Cheap edible sushi that don't give you the runs FTW!! http://flickr.com/photos/no-te... - Mona N.
Oh man, the Royal Red. It's a farm on a bun ... burger, egg, and bacon. It's heaven. It's the best clogged artery that you'll ever have. It's amaaaaazing. - ::Kristen::
boooo... some one should come eat with me - Stefan Hayden
I'd try to eat one of those big burgers but you have to eat all of the toppings and I'm a meat & cheese kinda guy. (plus the lactose would destroy me before I finished the burger. lol) - Louie
Mona, Stefan, after you finish your Gus Burger, have a grillswith for dessert (http://is.gd/1j8k). The Spot serves those too. - Larry Huffman
Stefan, it's an article about a youtube video -- which seems relevant to this discussion. I should've just linked to the video, and now have switched so it just links to youtube - Robert Seidman
thanks for all the help Mona... good night everyone! - Stefan Hayden
My bad Stefan, I confused you with a buddy that moved to Sweden b/c of work recently [yes he is on FF]. So I thought Mona was teasing you about missing american food. - Ruth Ferguson
I think I'm in love; what else could it be that makes my heart race so? - Derrick Burns
Regardless, the screenshot was hilarious! - Robert Couture
Disheartening for a brand new Mac user like myself. I had the same stance on viruses as a linux user, but now it makes me wonder... - Nikos Anagnostou via twhirl
Lesson Learned: you ALWAYS need virus protection! - Justin Korn
@Louis, Agreed, I hope his blood pressure is back to normal now ... I can just imagine the panic as he scrambled to fix something that was not broken for anybody else but you ... - Robert Couture
no worries louis - glad you got it fixed up - Allen Stern
Doesn't the latest Security Update address this? Gads. - Chris Kim A
It was my fault because somehow something I did somewhere called Allen's site into question. Whether intentional or not, it was my fault. - Louis Gray
As a former virus analyst, the headline is killing me. A virus and a trojan are two totally different things. A virus self-replicates, while a trojan does not but does have a payload. The latter is much more common on Mac OS X, while the former is not. - Bwana McCall
Gotcha. Don't be too hard on yourself; accidents are never intentional! - Andy DeSoto
Bwana - you win and I lose. I have since changed the headline, and tweaked the article to be correct. - Louis Gray
Ok I'm just catching up; you're saying your mac used a Trojan to give Allen Viagra ads on his site, and now he's off to bed with lavender body lotion? I really need to stay home on Saturdays. - jeneane is in the house
The main way that trojan was contracted was from browsing porn sites where they tricked you into installing a Quicktime codec to see the dirty movie. http://bit.ly/3eId3w - Adam Turetzky
@adamturetzky i am not clicking that link - Gregory Lent
ah interesting. One gets a virus/trojan running an untrusted application and it's an OS fault? - Claudio Cicali
I remember going to this gym in San Diego, CA. It's real. - Taylor
Yeah, even I have seen this image say around 4-5 years back. - Sudar
I used to go up one escalator and then down the other in five-lap reps. Then I'd take a little breather and eat a Krispy Kreme donut. Then do another rep. After doing ten reps, I'd feel like a new person! I used to do this five times a week. Exercise is great! - Akiva Moskovitz
'We have had an abort and are looking at data. The vehicle and the pad system are fine. Please stay tuned, liftoff could still occur tonight.' enough already. I'm going to Taco Bell. - Josh Haley
I didn't hear, what was the flash before abort? It was about six seconds or so after T0. - Loren Heiny
I think their xmpp hose just went down...I am so funny...ahem... - Kamath
well, they've got about 45 min left in their window to figure it out - Chris Kim A
Another try at a 10 minute countdown - Loren Heiny
Thanks everybody (EVERYBODY) for your wishes. I sincerely appreciate it. I've really only had one present so far and it's been one of the most awesomest presents ever. - l0ckergn0me via Bookmarklet
@maccast informed me that he, you and I are all Birthday sharers!! Happy Birthday - clearly, this was a good day for geeks to be born! :) (p.s. I'm way older...sigh) - Lucretia Pruitt
