What if they turn off FF.com though and integrate with FB :(
- Mark
Leo, I've respected you for years, but I see no evidence that anybody has a clue what they're doing with this merger. I like Facebook; I like Friendfeed, but I like Friendfeed more and I see way more potential for downside in this deal, as a user, than I do upside.
- Scott of Two Countries
still the begining, let see what wave will do
- abdellah
But will it become a combined service? I doubt it.
- jcunwired
Leo, the word 'Leadership' is exactly right. As Dave and Robert recently discussed, the most frustrating aspects of Twitter are the inconsistent business practices, seemingly arrogant attitude, and poor account management. I'm glad FriendBook stepped up.
- Dan Patterson
My worry is that the public facing service that made Friendfeed so great will disappear...
- Andrew Terry
Don't forget their also buying brains...there is some real talent at friendfeed
- Jason Stephens
I want only to carry on going to Friendfeed.com. Don't want it to be built into Facebook
- Mark
@jason remember tey qui Google, they will never stay at FB
- abdellah
If they keep FF.com then fine...if I have to go to FB to use FF forget it
- Randy Pollock
I am an instructor and just integrated Friendfeed into my classes for sharing, etc. The groups and privacy were the winner. I cannot see taking the same thing over to FB even if it had the functionality because of its rep. I liked having a professional social media, and a private one on FB for my friends. I am somewhat bummed.
- TonyatMATC
Anyone watch that British show "The IT Crowd"? The Friendface episode now has whole new meaning haha
- Mike
For this week's TWiT, can we please have Scoble to talk about this? I think he's one of the most appropriate people to talk to.
- Michel
from iPhone
If Scoble is there, invite Louis Gray too. We need a realistic perspective.
- jcunwired
Seconded for Louis Grey, Akiva Moskowitz, or Ken Sheppardson.
- Matthew DeVries
Leo, are you rolling live with anything today/tonight on this?
- Matthew DeVries
Guys, if you think FF is going to stick around read the press release and look at how many non-Facebook websites Facebook runs. They bought the people and maybe the tech, but FF as an independent app is toast.
- invariant - farewell FF
This is facebooks chance to have a public facing component, and to not have to duplicate Friendfeed, it's a win. And what's this thing called Twitter?
- Christian Burns
from iPhone
Wishful thinking ... Does Google split with TM owners? Twitter with UGC? No
- Scott Moskowitz
from iPhone
i just told someone how much better ff is than fb!! now this?
- Mike Pollock
Thank my lucky stars I listen to Leo...couldnt get the name I wanted on twitter so I got it on Friendfeed.......in two weeks we ll all be saying Ashton and twitter who?
- Flex Fitness
DO NOT WANT FF intergrated with Facebook....period
- Johann Diaz
from Nambu
Good thing they're not buying FriendFeed... :P :P :P Just kidding man..I love poking fun at typos. Would love to see a source however.
- Bwana ☠
Wow! Let's see how this one develops...
- Iain Baker
funny... i misspelled Friend while it was right in my face. AWKWARD MOMENT!
- Outsanity
I wouldn't mind a Yahoo acquisition. They kept del.icio.us the way it is. Also, aside from changing the login, they kept the essence of Flickr.
- Morton Fox
Hmmm...that's interesting. I'd be surprised if the FriendFeed guys bit on that. Seems too early. I'll second Shey - source?
- Hutch Carpenter
i'm yanking the joke chain. Yahoo's not buying FriendFeed. tho, it would be interesting to see how Yahoo would merge Yahoo stuff to the site.
- Outsanity
Wow, that would be a super smart acquisition on Yahoo! behalf; but then Microsoft would REALLY want to buy Yahoo! then!! augh!
- Susan Beebe
@Outsanity, haha, the perfect link bait. YHOO, MSFT, GOOG, all should consider it though. It's better to buy these things when they are younger and cheaper than having to pay Facebook prices down the road, even if there is a chance that they won't work out.
- Thomas Hawk
Man, it's ok if the buy 'Freindfeed'. I really hope they're not looking at Friendfeed (Duck)
- Charlie Anzman
gosh i hope not! i believe anyone purchasing friendfeed will ruin it.
- Nathan Eckenrode
It's this kind of thing that starts stupid rumours -- you gotta show a source BEFORE or AS you say stuff like that
- Shey, Jamaican of FF
it would seem odd to send friendfeed messages via yahoo messenger. good thing it's not true.
- Outsanity
does anyone think that Yahoo would be a good steward for Friendfeed?
- Sean Reiser
I guess Yahoo is interested in buying FriendFeed (they are wise to want them, it would give them talented management they desperately need), but I doubt FriendFeed is interested. They have 5m funding, they're growing extremely fast. In a year, they'll be worth 5 to 10 times of what they're worth now. There is no need for them to sell at that point - so why should they?
