Friendfeed: way too much idle chatter, particularly narcissistic, self-referential chatter about nothing (that's my mood at the moment). Brief status updates from high-quality sources on Twitter now feel like breathing clear mountain air by comparison. (This could be a passing mood, and not a final judgment -- not sure.)
I've been through that state too. (but only re Twitter feeling like breathing clear mountain air, NOT the rest) It's just that I can't stand being able to make any proper sentences on Twitter. You couldn't post what you said on Twitter either. It's way over 140 chars. So FriendFeed at least gives room for discussing its downsides. - Meryn Stol
Flitcraft -- FF needs to offer the option to hide ALL comments by default, and optimize the ability to scan and skim brief headers of the most important posts. Beat Twitter at its own game, while continuing to provide a rich conversational space. - Sean McBride
Sean: That could be something a FriendFeed client could cater to. Twitter's own UI is not optimal for every use case either. Tweetdeck is WAY different. - Meryn Stol
Meryn -- cool FF clients and alternate UIs -- where are they? We can hope they'll appear. - Sean McBride
Only major one I know of is Buddyfeed for iPhone. Because of its small size *and* versatile native UI, FriendFeed is not attracting much developers atm. I only brought up the idea of a client because its already certain that no UI can cater to all persons' wishes. And if it did, only a very big company could make something like that. Hence, different companies making different Twitter clients. Free competition between UIs is the best for all I believe. And there shouldn't have to be one winner. - Meryn Stol
Sean, some folks filter FF through google reader for that purpose. - Amber, Random Time Lord
I did know feedalizr, but I had not heard from that one in a long time, so I did not name it. Never heard of bTittleTattle. - Meryn Stol
90% of my FF use is via Nambu. It crashes a lot for me but is still worth the trouble, and it is nice because it also doubles as a Twitter client - Ryan Miller from Nambu
...but to your point, yes there is a lot of chatter. I always feel like I am not properly using FF's filters and folders to separate signal from noise, everything goes through my home feed which makes for a large firehose - Ryan Miller from Nambu
Ryan -- Nambu looks interesting, but OS X only so far. - Sean McBride
@meryn hi. a new feedalizr will be available later today :) - Feedalizr from feedalizr
