#Parenting -- My attention was drawn to the #alarming post below and I wanted to #comment on it. I realize I am not a #mother however at the start of 2009 the court seen me fit to have temp. custody of my #friends newborn while she went into drug rehab. I took the baby from the hospital and provided care for 4 months for a 5 lb. sweetheart.
"I read other parents claiming all the baby does is sleep at the start. Not mine. I had troubles with naps from day one. I had to fight to put her down even as a newborn. Then because we went the route of sharing our room with the crib to bring more closeness as the professionals tell you to do, I could not nap when she was napping. She would be paying more attention to mom trying to nap on the bed then focusing on sleeping herself"

→ Newborns sleep a great deal, however they do not sleep "all the time". Typically a newborn will sleep 14 to 18 hours on average but all children are #different. First time mothers strive to do everything perfect for fear they may break something (I had a 5 pound 17 inch tiny tiny baby in my care I feared I'd break her).

→ Two days before week 4 I was feeding her, as the "professionals" said to, I noticed she was acting odd but she was feeding as she wanted. I put her on my shoulder to burp her, I heard her gag and I brought her down to my lap setting her upright on my left thigh and she was fine. I look at her 2 seconds later she's limp, lifeless, blue, and she's NOT breathing! -- Something kicked in,...

→ However, this #blog alerted something in me. Mother/child bonding perhaps in the last statement. Children need to bond with their mothers not be tossed into a crib to cry because you're too tired to fool with the child (folks this comes from a passive parenting blogger). Do you know how many days I went without sleep (with infant, with myself, with the house, and with work) -- A child...
