waynesutton: Question: Is there a windows app like skitch for the mac? Easy screengrabs, save, auto upload to flickr/ftp/web ? thx - http://twitter.com/waynesu...
iThinkMedia: @tedvilla yes, very affordable, Flickr/Picnik have a good model and seems to be the right price point too! - http://twitter.com/iThinkM...
Perhaps it's the most popular but feature-wise, photo sharing on facebook is downright painful. I upload to private smug mug albums and e-mail the links around.

waynesutton: @City_Stylz not kidding, on my iPhone & I'll post it to flickr in a few, I think the guy is joking but when I 1st saw it I was like wow. - http://twitter.com/waynesu...
waynesutton: @geofflapptrio google it? nope that's a screen capture from my DMs using skitch mac app, then uploaded to flickr, see the trash can & time? - http://twitter.com/waynesu...
Tentatively, I'm staying here Sat 1/31/09 - Mon 2/9/09. Reserved a Thrifty car for $234.10 ($28.10/day). Hostel + Car = $53.10/day.

Reminds me of Hostel (the film). Enjoy your stay!

I loved the big island, but didn't care for Hilo much. Take the early morning boat to the lava flows. That would have been the best view. We did the hike.
- RAPatton
Thanks Matt. Any other suggestions Robert? I haven't been to the Big Island in ~10 years. Loved the black sand beach & the Kona coffee.
- Mitchell Tsai
Airline ticket AA $169. Hopefully I'll get upgraded to some flat-bed seats!
- Mitchell Tsai
The black sand beach was great. We loved the hike and it is just majestic the way it ends. We loved the village right before it, and spent some time there. Had a good breakfast and my wife picked up something from one of the artisans. I loved to drive on the big island. just a short drive up county and you can see the milky way
- RAPatton
When we were there the volcano was erupting and that was really impressive. It was the first time in a long time. Whale watching was a dud, but it is a better time of year for it now. The kids loved Dolphin Quest over at the Hilton, which is impressive to see, but I wouldn't want to stay there.
- RAPatton
There are some great waterfalls near Hilo if you drive north. We stopped at several on our way to hilo.
- RAPatton
Here is the whole set: http://www.flickr.com/photos... the first half were on Oahu, but I should have them tagged right so you can tell. Also, Go! is having interisland airfare sales right now. Go to their website and sign up as a frequent flyer and you will be emailed
- RAPatton
The Big Island was laid back and expansive which was really nice. I keep thinking about going back and I was a Maui person. You can go exploring which is great, but Hilo was mainly built in the 70s-80s and is a little more run down, but you have great access to the Volcano and lower cost restaurants and access to the cultural events of the island.
- RAPatton
average rainfall per year in Hilo: 130 inches. Be ready for that if you choose Hilo. But it kicks ass and is a great place to visit.
- Morgan Haley
I go to the Big Island once a year (Kona side) I really like Hilo as well, but it's not for everyone. Great hiking and the Volcano tours are a lot of fun. Akaka Falls is a very nice hike http://www.stateparks.com/akaka_f...

From my visit to North-East Iceland last week (i live in southwest iceland). This is the largest, most powerful and vertigo-inducing waterfall in Iceland. (think its the most powerful in all of Europe actually)
- Mitchell Tsai
Hard to reach, especially from this side (i've been here 3 times before, always viewed it from the other, rockier side.. my last visit was 8 years ago, before i got into photography) The road is awful, very narrow and your car may or may not survive the trip without small bits falling off.. But its worth it. So much raw energy here. I tried lying on the ground near the edge, and it's like being on top of a huge rumbling engine. Very cool.
- Mitchell Tsai
I also discovered that 2 a.m. is a good time to visit if you want the place to yourself ;)

John: She's the most incredible photographer I've seen on Flickr. I may end up favoriting 90% of her set for my Flickr favorite slideshow. Have you tried playing slideshows of people's favorites?
- Mitchell Tsai
Not really. Will give it a whirl. Rebekka is one of those problem flickr people who has toooo many great shots!
- John Samuelson
John: LOL. Know any more _problem_ Flickr people?
- Mitchell Tsai
Thomas Hawk is another I have trouble keeping up with. I raid his faves mercilessly he has a great eye, not to mention his own shots.
- John Samuelson
John: My favorites on FriendFeed are Thomas Hawk, Donato, Eric, JA Castillo, Raoul Pop, and Mahdi Ebrahimi. See http://friendfeed.com/e... for a longer list. I'm still struggling to figure out who to follow on Flickr. Here's the place where I'm trying to keep track of who I like. http://friendfeed.com/e... I've looked at some of the Top-100 etc groups on Flickr, and my tastes don't match theirs.
- Mitchell Tsai
Rebekka's water-in-motion shots are incredible.

Daegu in South Korea is playing host to the World Bodypainting Festival [8/25/08-8/31/08], it's the largest bodypainting event on the planet. The main festival is held every year in Seeboden, Austria, but expanded into Asia for the first time this year with a bonus exhibition. It lasts until 31 August.

The World Bodypainting Festival is the biggest annual event of the body painting culture and community. The festival is the first of its kind in the world and has become the "Mecca of Bodypainting". It draws over a hundred artists and models, and thousands of visitors, from all over the world every year. The Lake Millstätter See region's scenery is the stage, where bodies are boldly put...

The artists compete in three categories: brush and sponge, airbrush, and special effects. At night time there is also a special UV effects contest. All categories have separate prizes and trophies. Artists can use either male or female models as they wish. All models must be wearing underpants while painted, but female models can go topless if they want.

MItchell, you can probably buy it while you're there
- Duncan Riley
LOL Duncan... Quite a banking crisis. There were $49 RTs (mistake fare) to Iceland that I missed. :-( Long discussion on FlyerTalk. Did you see the $480 Los Angeles - Sydney roundtrips a few months ago?
- Mitchell Tsai
Should have been better. Note to self: alcohol and photography do not mix! I had to go into Den Den Machi to pick up some stuff, so I thought I'd have another go at the Sky Building, this time at night. Spicy curry for dinner required multiple beers, which meant... well, I don't think I'll be able to salvage much. Never mind.

The "World Bodypainting Festival" is a cult event that has driven the art of bodypainting forward. It has spread awareness and excitement for body art for the past 12 years.

it's a beautiful pic, but Indiana doesn't have that kind of elevation... the links don't say where it's from, but would definitely be interested in knowing where this is...

It was another early start…. meant we got in the shooting place at the perfect time *before the sunrise... set up the little boat, did our stuff, and hung about with egrets... just waiting the start of the daily show. Err… here, the egret was fishing for its morning meal in taman burung lagoon, in nusa dua when i captured it on my camera from a little boat.
- Mitchell Tsai
This shoot represents a kind of contrast that is difficult for built-in-programming camera meters, to interpret correctly. All of the tones, were virtually glittering. Sidelight coming from behind a body of water at low angle created such brilliant highlights that i couldn’t think too fast of proper speed & aperture values… shooting from water is difficult so i’d to use a faster shutter speed with the corresponding loss of depth of field.
- Mitchell Tsai
okay, hi everybody! ^o^ alright, some ppl are asking a bunch of questions about telephoto lenses ^o^ and i don’t know how to start answering all but, i hope this helps… ☛here’s an obvious use of a long lens, i love shooting tight or may i say that i luv isolation, like here in this frame… i was able to photograph from an approx. distance of 70 m or 220 feet, yet frame the egrets tightly!
- Mitchell Tsai
@_@ but, the yellowish hue of ☀sunrise is not as pronounced as it was in other days before i made this shoot. ☹by this day the intense yellows in gold tones characteristic of balinese sunrise had been lost. ☹partly due to the slightly overcastted weather and, partly due to the thin ☁ clouds filtering the light in that specific day, in the other hand I’ve an unusual background… a great white egret in flight.

☮okay, dunno why but I got so many ✉emails requesting advices for choices of long lens, telling the truth i only know about my big lens ◊nikkor 500mm f/4 dII◊ and what it’s good about it. ☂but i’ve few basic points to tell you about super telephoto lenses, before you get your wallet in hands. ♦think- which subjects you wish to photograph. ♦think- the amount of lens weight and volume...

"Big Sur - Portal of the Sun" - Sunset at Pfeiffer Beach, California (900x598 at FF) [Patrick Smith - 12/10/06, reposted by lilly at Pixdaus] - http://pixdaus.com/pics...
This opening in a cliff face at Pfeiffer Beach in Big Sur allows large waves to come through at high tide before a big storm. The waves often fill the entire portal to the top, and the portal becomes a giant water shotgun! The Tufoni formations in the rock are incredible and should be seen in person. The sun was only like this for about 30 seconds so I had to work fast.
- Mitchell Tsai
Fortunately, the sun was dimmed by high clouds but there was still enough light to reflect onto the rock face from the cliff behind the camera. Backlighting is crucial here; otherwise you have an overexposed portal with no detail on the rock face. Once the light was right, I waited for the water flow to become dramatic. A short exposure time allowed a little movement while retaining detail of the sea spray.

Sunset at Pfeiffer Beach, 130 miles south of San Francisco.
- Mitchell Tsai
This is one of my favourite rock formations and it took over a year to get this shot. Mostly because it is 50 miles from nowhere, and only in winter is this shot possible because of the angle of the sun. Usually I wait for low tide at sunset, but high tide is more dramatic in this situation. The unusual back lighting is the result of a large cliff behind me reflecting sunlight onto the...

- Mitchell Tsai
Low tide does produce some good lighting conditions as it comes through the portal about 20 minutes before sunset. So I'll be back here to get those shots as well.

Looks like family visiting for the holidays again. Commuter UFO's from the home planet always put that cloak cloud on Tamalpais when visiting the Bay Area where so many of us have chose to settle. Srsly tho, beautific shot. :-)

I was trying to figure out how to tag my Flickr photos & stumbled across some cool light photos. Really nice colors in the lights & the backgrounds. It's giving me some ideas for lighting future LED hulahoop shots.

See PlayPoi's glowstick and flag photos set (65 photos) at http://flickr.com/photos... Photos of LED poi, glowsticks, flags, and other light emitting props.

20 of these pics are Playpoi's, and 5 are from other photographers (#1, #2, #16, #19, #21 - love the hooping against a blue background).
- Mitchell Tsai
My 20 favorites from Playpoi's set are http://friendfeed.com/e..., but the Flickr slideshow is worth a look for the similar pictures which I didn't favorite. Some nice colors in the lights & the backgrounds. It's giving me some ideas for lighting future LED hula-hoop shots.
