Spotify invite on it's way. Well, I tried but it says that e-mail address is already registered in Spotify.
- Ian D
Oh thanks Ian! Yeah, I'm registered on Spotify with that address. I didn't know that's how the invites work. I guess I have to give you my friend's email address in order for him to be able to register. Here it is: ira.chevallier a gmail com Please let me know if you were able to send the invite. I will tell him. Thanks again for your help :)
- sebastian☆rocket brother
Weird. Are you actually trying from France?
- Rubin Sfadj
Thanks! Just saw the update. I'll have to try it later tonight. I'm finishing up taxes today and tomorrow.. Let me know if you get a wave invite as well. I'll do the same!
- Michael Fidler
Rubin, I had my friend in France try it and he said it did work so thank you! And thanks Ian for trying. I really appreciate it! m(_ _)m

"Google Sync supports Push for Gmail, meaning that you can get your messages immediately, if not sooner (as my dad is fond of saying)."
- sebastian☆rocket brother
sormamak ayıp değil ya. push email ne demek??? nedir bu push olayı?
- HasanCivelek
I don't care much for push notifications, I can wait 15 minutes for the iPhone to fetch/push. But Calendar and Contacts syncing is awesome, I couldn't do that before.
- Willem (@wim66) ☠
Fetching wastes battery though. Push is a much better system overall.
- sebastian☆rocket brother
@hayati teşekkürler :) bugun onca yıldan sonra PS'de iki trik öğrendim. hala iş var :)))
- HasanCivelek
Unfortunately you can only sync 1 gmail account using Google Sync. I wonder if Google will ever support push imap..
- sebastian☆rocket brother
There are a lot of competing apps out now for this. Which is the best?
- Michael Fidler
Google's implementation relies upon Exchange - can we use only one Exchange account per iPhone?
- Bill Sodeman
@billso Yes, unfortunately only one Exchange account. That's totally sucks, 'cause I kinda need two-some.
- Кто это тут у нас
@sebastian☆rocket brother "Fetching wastes battery though" Really? More than PUSH? Messages have to be pushed to a process, a process that is running *all* the time.

In the latest Firefox 3.7a1pre Minefield, middle-clicking a link opens it in a new tab next to the current one, just like in Chrome. Left-clicking a link however, seems to work the same way it used to, opening a new tab furthest to the right. Looks like the boys at Mozilla are changing things up. Good! :)

I've seen this video before. It makes it look like mechanics don't get their hands dirty anymore. However, it's an Interesting application for AR.
- Michael Fidler
Haha...yeah, the video is a little cheesy, but it gives you a good idea of the possibilities of AR. It will be interesting to see what impact it has on medicine in a few years time.

Oh, I didn't know you still use this account Mike! Yeah, it's little sad to hear that it will only be available to premium subscribers.. What headphones did you buy btw?
- sebastian☆rocket brother
This is messed up. Qik for iPhone cannot stream video, even though it can on other at&t phones! WTF?! - http://www.tuaw.com/2009...
Qik, as well as some other applications, can stream on other at&t phones. iPhone is the only one that can't. "...if video streaming is forbidden, what about YouTube and MLB At Bat [iTunes link], that streams two live games a day? And what about the SlingPlayer app, that is allowed to stream across the cellular data network on other AT&T phones but only over Wi-Fi on the iPhone?" Wow.....that is some serious bullshit.

I don't know what's up with Apple and video streaming, but I'm not surprised when people jailbreak their phones.
- Michael Fidler
Restrictions like this boil down to protecting the network from the extra load that comes from iPhone users. We use our devices for about 3-5x the amount of data that any other phone users (including smartphone users), which puts an enormous strain on the network. I would wager that apps like MLB's are allowed to stream on the network because (and this is just a theory) MLB pays for...

Sebastian, I completely agree with you, it makes no sense. I would gladly pay a monthly fee for the cost of the extra bandwidth used so I can stream. I'm sure that many others would pay as well

I'm using it everyday. It's great! Collaborating on playlists with friends is really nice. Anyone can add a song and everyone can listen to it. Awesome!

"Not available in your country yet" ....
- Ahsan Ali
Does the music sound better than the other online services?
- Michael Fidler
Yeah Ahsan...not yet available. But if you have an account, it works from any country. :)
- sebastian☆rocket brother
Sebastian - does that mean someone in europe can set up an account for me?
- Matt G
It sounds good to me. Their help page says this "What quality does Spotify stream in? We use the Ogg Vorbis q5 codec which streams at approximately 160kb/s. Premium subscribers can enable higher bit rate streaming at 320 kb/s from the preferences menu." I think it sounds really good...but then again, I'm on pretty crappy speakers now..
- sebastian☆rocket brother
Matt, yeah, as long as you get an account set up, you're good to go. You can have a friend in UK set it up for you, or you can try setting it up using a UK proxy.
- sebastian☆rocket brother
Err .. can someone spare an invite ? :P
- Ahsan Ali
Oh dear, gotta run it under Wine on Linux ?! No can do :(
- Ahsan Ali
Oh!...sorry to hear that.. I didn't know you're running Linux.. Oh and, you don't need an invite to register from UK. Only some other countries need invites.
- sebastian☆rocket brother
Clark, definitely! Some sort or recommendation or usage stats/reviews would be great.

"I've been wondering the same thing... any ideas anyone? Actually...looking at my iPod touch, I think it might even be possible to make the screen 4.1" (16:9) and still keep the same overall dimensions."
- sebastian☆rocket brother
There's still a lot of 4:3 content out there. The screen is a good compromise, and a quick double-tap when viewing wider material will toggle between letterboxed and full-height.
- Tinfoil 2.0
Oh hey LE! I just added you to my friendfeed friends. I guess we are fff's now! :P Yeah, most of the content is, or at least was 4:3 when the iPhone first came out. I was just thinking that knowing Apple, they would go to a more "theater video" pro A/V sort of way. I guess I was just too excited about the possibility of watching video clips on my phone. :D For some reason wide format just hits my eyes better...not sure why..
- sebastian☆rocket brother
I'm waiting for a 64GB (or more) iPhone with HD and surround output. No need for media centers, just take what you want anywhere you go ;) - sure would be better than the frustrations I've had trying to play movies from a PS3 or XBOX 360.
- Tinfoil 2.0
haha, sweet! Should be not too long from now. Kingston came out with a 256GB USB thumb drive the other day. :) I'm also waiting for a micro projector to be built into the iPhone. http://www.microvision.com/technol... But before that I'll probably laser pico projectors you can connect to the iPhone. Project an image bigger than the biggest plasma TV from your iPhone...anywhere! :D

Because they're saving it for the tablet. The question should be; Why is the resolution so low? Six years ago I bought a Dell Axim x50v PDA which had a beautiful 640x480 VGA screen and a faster processor with a separate GPU. http://www.mobiletechreview.com/Dell_Ax... Six years ago! Maybe this is why Dell is getting back in the game.
- Michael Fidler
They pulled out just as PDA's were starting to include phones. It was a bad decision, but their products kicked ass. I think their biggest problem, was and still is their marriage to Microsoft. Dell has been one of the most reluctant companies to offer Linux as option for businesses customers. They do it now, but you have to order 20,000 computers to get them to do it.
- Michael Fidler
Interesting how they compare the numbers to IE 8 saying "...IE 8 has been downloaded more than 200 million times in the last four months since its release. That's a fifth of the way to what Firefox achieved since Firefox 1.0 was released nearly five years ago." But from what I can see at http://downloadstats.mozilla.com/ Firefox 3.5.1 has been downloaded over 70 million times. Not too shabby I think :)

hahaha...I'm not sure if it is. I get lost when it starts going above what I can count on my fingers..:P I was just surprised they mentioned that 1 billion downloads since Firefox 1 is nothing much when you compare it to the giant IE which has 200 million for IE 8 only (it's been out only 4 months)... When I compare Firefox 3.5.1's 70 million (in 2 weeks) to IE 8's 200 million (in 4...

Are you on twitter or do you use any other service like Facebook, Digg, Flickr, or YouTube? It isn't necessary that you are, but they are good sources of content. You just have to add the requested user info, and friendfeed will do the rest. You do this in your account settings. How about a picture? It doesn't have to be you, it can be a picture of anything you like. BTW, I started here first, and didn't have any feeds. I'll be back in a bit with the video!
- Michael Fidler
I noticed that you added the deviantart.com room here. It's has been one of my favorite sites for the last ten years, and it's finally starting to get popular again. They went through a rough transition when Web 2.0 started to take hold, even though they were social long before most others. But now you can add your favorites feed from deviantart.com here. It's a little harder to set up, but it's still painless. Let me know if you want to or not.
- Michael Fidler
Hey! Welcome to my feed!!! hahaha I found the bookmarklet under "Tools". Seems very useful, thanks! I don't have twitter...contemplating whether i should get it or not. And I was thinking of adding Facebook here, but I only use it to get in touch with some of my close friends so I wasn't sure if it's a good idea to add it as a service to friendfeed..
- sebastian☆rocket brother
Yeah, deviantArt! It's a great site! I've been using it for a while myself too, but I don't have an account there.
- sebastian☆rocket brother
It only takes a second to set one up. I just started a new one recently, because when I started there, user-names really weren't important. I had a stupid one, and it just wasn't working for me anymore. Besides, it's a good idea to secure the name you want to use on as many sites as possible, before someone else does.
- Michael Fidler
I see. You recommend twitter? Also, I am trying to add my vimeo account to friendfeed now, but for some reason it's saying it can't find my username...have you had that problem?
- sebastian☆rocket brother
I had that problem with YouTube. They might be making modification's like when I was having problems. Let me check mine.
- Michael Fidler
They only need your username for vimeo, so you might want to try again latter. If it doesn't work by tomorrow, leave a comment in the friendfeed feedback room http://friendfeed.com/friendf...
- Michael Fidler
I see. I tried both just the username, and the whole email address but both don't seem to work. Maybe cause I haven't logged into vimeo in a while. Logged in today, so I'll try to subscribe again tomorrow.
- sebastian☆rocket brother
Are you using your name the way it appears in the profile url?
- Michael Fidler
Oh no!!! When I click on my profile, the url says user877... It was supposed to be sebushi113 as it says on my profile page. That's not good..
- sebastian☆rocket brother
Ah! Got it! Found it under short url in my profile. Thanks again! Awesome! Done...and done!
- sebastian☆rocket brother
I got a question Michael...friendfeed added the video I liked above, as you can see. Now, if I want to share it with people because I like it, should I share it? Or if I click "Share" it will just duplicate it?
- sebastian☆rocket brother
It will duplicate, but you can share directly with someone and not have it in your feed. Just x out My feed & keep their name in it.
- Michael Fidler
I forgot to tell you; As you add feeds, your entire feed history is imported. It kind of gives you a past. Not that it matters, but how old are you? Approximately. I'm 5 (in my picture).
- Michael Fidler
hahaha Yeah...I was a bit surprised to see the stories I dugg show up. Forgot I even dugg them. haha I'm 31 (but I look young in my cartoon picture :P)
- sebastian☆rocket brother
Exactly, but they usually don't look back far. Mainly, this is all here for you . First and foremost, friendfeed is a place to aggregate all of your activities online. In doing so, it becomes a lifestream for you. Besides aggregating content, it also has the best community and communication tools around. This is why I suggested for you to not follow people who just run their feeds through here.(users who don't interact). There are a lot of users like this; the majority is my guess.
- Michael Fidler
