acebook proved again this week that they are either the most unethical or clueless internet company in the world. An amazing accomplishment since Facebook is also one of the most promising, and certainly fastest growing, internet companies of all time. Perhaps I’m being hyperbolic (who me?), or maybe they are a little of both, but the fact remains they screw up on important issues almost as if it’s a “best practice” to do so.

Up to now I've been taking my pay from TWiT's general fund (along with all the other employees). Not any more. From now on you'll pay me directly with your contributions. I won't take a penny out of the operating funds.Think of your contributions as a tip jar. If you like what I'm doing with TWiT I hope you'll contribute $2 a month (or more or less depending on what TWiT is worth to you). If you are unhappy with our direction, you can cancel your contribution completely. Believe me, I'll notice. Your contributions will have a direct impact on how TWiT is run - because they'll have a direct impact on my personal bottom line

Canadian scientists have found a way to stun and unstun a worm using light — reminiscent of Captain Kirk's fabled Star Trek phaser.

I look at it this way... For centuries now, man has done everything he can to destroy, defile, and interfere with nature: clear-cutting forests, strip-mining mountains, poisoning the atmosphere, over-fishing the oceans, polluting the rivers and lakes, destroying wetlands and aquifers... so when nature strikes back, and smacks him on the head and...
and kicks him in the nuts, I enjoy that. I have absolutely no sympathy for human beings whatsoever. None. And no matter what kind of problem humans are facing, whether it's natural or man-made, I always hope it gets worse

I should start selling access to my .edu e-mail addies. :D I don't need the student pricing. I could be all entrepreneurial about this!

the wifes cousin works for MS... each copy is $30 each.. i might be getting my copies from there too
- Kevin
Yeah, I'm getting all mine via my MSDN account, but it would be nice to have copies not linked to that, so I'll probably use all of my .edu addies to buy extra copies. Just in case. :D

"It hasn't been peer reviewed, but it has already perplexed infectious disease experts because it suggests people vaccinated against seasonal flu are more likely to catch H1N1."
