Nudge @Srikanth: "At any rate, I do believe in this: even when there are problems that we can do nothing about, it’s important to know. To note. To remember. Because forgetting would be the last nail in the coffin, the final bone burned to cinders."

Do read the comments. The author does not back down from his assertion that Hindi IS India's national language. Even cites the constitution- which funnily enough has no provision for a national language- only official ones.

"No re- I graduated this year. I really wish I had the time to do more of these things, but I've got far too many things on my plate for the foreseeable future."

"For a start, angel investing is a local phenomenon, as much about mentoring and connections as it is about the thousands of dollars invested. An Indian who’s made billions in the Valley doesn’t necessarily know the first thing about mentoring an inexperienced kid with an idea in Mumbai. Until Indians start having more big hits in India, it will struggle to improve its angel landscape. So India—or any region like it that has money, desire and opportunity but a lack of sustained big wins— has two choices: Muddle along without the help of early money and wisdom and churn out some big hits or figure out a way to hack space and time. Not surprisingly, I met several parties in India trying to do the latter. Can it work? Maybe, but there are inevitable tradeoffs."

Whoa- just found this, though it was posted a week ago. Google Scholar is now indexing court opinions. Is this the end of Lexis Nexis and Westlaw?

Whoa- this is huge: "IRCTC’s estimated gross annual sales of Rs.3400 crore constitutes 1/3rd of the total ecommerce industry worth Rs.9000 crores in India."

I think all the people who are ranting about the Chrome OS should really only read the first paragraph: "Google Chrome OS has a radically different approach to computing, and assumes that most of what you want to do on your computer involves your web browser and internet connectivity — and when we think about it, are they so wrong? Those of you who were expecting an Android type interface are going to be sorely disappointed, as the Chrome browser, in a nutshell, is Chrome OS. So let’s just get this out there right now: this isn’t going to be an OS designed for video editing, Photoshopping, or 3D modeling. This is a lightweight conduit for access to online information and utilities."
