"Indeed, but we're not there yet. I agree until we are "truly" viewed as equal we have to keep banging the drum. My generation has been banging that drum for the past 50 years. I've seen "some" change, and until it's no longer in our vocabulary, I'll continue to bang our drum. On a different note, 1 Billion Rising is coming up tomorrow, I invite women & men globally to tune in."

"LOL seriously, female eye candy? Sex, or eye candy shouldn't even be part of the discourse. How about brain candy? Something to inspire evolved thinking. Ahh youth, still thinking with your gonads."

"Thank you @upcity:disqus. It's indeed and honor and a pleasure to be among such valued members in our community. I'll admit I recognize, respect most of the names on here and as @Lisa_Barone:disqus stated in the spirit of passing it forward I would love to add Melissa Fach, Donna Fontenot, Jahnelle Pittman, are a few women I turn to, read, and of course follow on a daily basis..."

"I could swear I left a message earlier, maybe I didn't save it. But I wanted to say It was a pleasure writing this post for your readers Stefania. @cff958b16a65466e66c72a1efa90582e:disqus I'll admit I'm not a big Google + Fan, but at the end of the day we as marketers have to use everything at our disposal. Technology is evolving no doubt, and how people communicate will matter even more."

"Thank you lyda, I appreciate your kind words...I learned many years ago when I worked for a large Telecommunication company once you made your pitch, you stopped and listened. The hardest thing to do was to shut up and listen. The results varied but the person that spoke first lost. Either we lost the sale or they ( the client) lost the argument of why they couldn't spend thousands of dollars for the latest communication solutions. That lesson stayed with me. We're all trying to push our services, products, talents to the masses, that we continue to blah blah blah and we don't listen to what the masses are saying or what they want. The activity of listening is not an easy one. I'm always ready to continue the discussion especially when I'm passionate about a topic. I've trained myself to count to ten before responding to clients, this inevitably gives me food for thought and the client appreciates what I have to say since I listened to their comments."

"I'm not one to throw a parade for a list of links... but I have to admit you've got some of the best ones I've seen in a long time. Thanks :)"

"Wow not bad...I've actually been chatting about location. Wtf when is that going to get a hold? It's really killing the joy of taking on local business to the next level. Happy New Year!"

"~Swooning~ here... I've always been smitten with this loud, obnoxious, sweet man! I really do ♡ this guy. Grazie mille Alessio, e veramente fantastico! Barry, is very special to me. He's one of the few SEO's I trust, and love reading. First of all he's wicked smart, funny, and compassionate. I've been following him for years, and I've seen him step up to the plate for the small guy, especially when they are right. That to me is a sign of character, especially in this industry. Last but not least, WTF? "Rugby Union or Rugby League?" Seriously... that's the best you could do? LOL well, come to think of it, I can see you holding a beer entertaining your listeners. :-/"

"Having fun with a topic like Accounting isnot easy, but it's apparent after perusing this site it's the way to go... I really enjoyed "We don’t charge for the puns, and will substitute with really great knock-knock jokes if you prefer." As a marketer I'm sure you can appreciate that at the end of the day, we all have a story to tell. We're given a blank canvas (in this case a web page) and we have to grab our readers attention. With social playing such an integral part of ones' site that story has to come through. The balance of writing for your readers and search engines is not an easy task. We (Level343) rarely focus on search engines...that's not to say we don't, but we find that balance once we understand the story. One of my favorite slogans "You don’t run a piece of a company; we don’t provide half of a campaign" With Balance Virtual you can see they're aiming for that personal touch..."

"Hello David, what a small world we live in. I just realized you work for people I know and admire. Thank you for your generous compliment, I'm flattered especially coming from you. Of course I would love to meet up with you. I'll even take you on a special SF tour and show you the city I know and love."

"Thanks Alessio, for the opportunity to share some of my thoughts with you and to everyone that's dropped by. I'm tickled pink to see so many RT's, well wishes, shares and great conversations with old friends and new ones because of this post. I've been humbled and thrilled by the conversation from this post. I've been called mom by three of my favorite young SEO guns, asked one of your followers, David Cohen, to have my child, and was told by several people I respect in this industry that I'm awesome. How can it get better than this? I feel the love!! What a great jolt of inspiration. You see, when you first asked me to do this, I honestly was not very familiar with your SEO series. I had seen a Tweet pass by, but never had a chance to click on it. Nor was I aware of the tumultuous whirlwind surrounding the series. I'm sad to see you've had to witness the ugly side of the online industry, but I'm thrilled to see you've gotten over it too."

"Very smart, sharp and extremely cute. :) I really appreciate this statement. "It makes no sense to me why big brands don’t include their marketing teams in the product development or iteration process." It's imperative for a successful campaign. Besides, it's the best way to create amazing, stellar campaigns. In conclusion I'm happy to say now I get to see what you look like all grown up. You're still adorable. And if I had a daughter I would beg her to marry you."

"Wow you're a baby... not sure why I thought you were older :) Congratulations and of course Happy Birthday. I did want to mention that my generation (10 years older) that have embraced the Internet has had to change the way we think; the way we socialize – the way we act. Of course some of us still think the Internet is a horrible place, while some have made it their mission to be part of this great digital evolution. What I've noticed and have tried to impement is responsibility. Something lacking not only in our personal struggles but as a collective body. I wrote a post a while back and it seems so fitting here that I will quote myself ;) "We now have the ability to start a revolution through the likes of Facebook, Digg, commenting, etc. We no longer look at the Internet as just a way to make more money. The latest mobile application in the virtual world isn’t the most important thing. The Digital Age is about making changes in humanity. It’s about building connections, authority..."

"I see your point Dino... I would be torn too. But as both gentlemen commenters aptly stated, you are attracting the big boys, nothing you can do about that. In light of our tribe members, I know we've always played nice on the playground. We don't mind sharing the goods, as long as there is an even playing field. Imho that's what Triberr does, it evens the playing field."

"Some wonderful insights Brian, thanks for putting this together... :) Funny, I recognize a few names in here. Though I may not agree whole heartedly with some, I can agree that social networks are still evolving. To some it's become the big white elephant in the room; they know it's there, but as long as they don't use it and walk around it, it may go away... Others know they need to do something within social, but just aren't sure how to tackle things. With that said, there are companies tackling SN and looking at brand procurement as an asset. They then intertwine a strategy into several platforms. Ouch. Realizing that each platform is used differently - that is key. How you approach people on Twitter will be different than how you approach people on Facebook. Google + is another beast altogether. Personally, when using SN in a marketing campaign, I don't think the core has changed much... The connection to the readers/buyers/fans will be what counts. They want to know you care,..."
