"The Milky Way is an alarm clock designed in Konstfack as a formgiving exercise. The shape reflects on the duality and unity of the sleep/wake cycle as well as illustrates a turning motion that triggers the snooze function. Another turning motion is applied to setting the time and the alarm."

"If you look at the reviews for this app on the iTunes store, though, you'll be astonished--there are over 1,000 one-star reviews! What's going on? They're not judging the app on its design or effectiveness, that's for sure. Instead, people are freaked out by that "your audio is converted by Nuance's servers" part. They think this is a privacy violation. They fear that someone at Nuance might listen in to the audio. (Nuance says nope, it's just a bunch of computers, maintained in a secure facility, and the audio and transcriptions are not saved.) They're also alarmed by the welcome screen's note that the names in your address book are uploaded to Nuance, too. Eeks! Nuance will know the names of the people we know! OK, first of all, this business of your audio being sent to Nuance for transcription rings a very familiar bell. Remember the Gmail brouhaha? When Gmail debuted, it offered a fantastic e-mail account, paid for by small text ads on the side whose subjects are matched to the e-mail contents."

Don't know about Collecta and its API, but can we choose a topic?

Not yet, there are a couple of other improvements I want to make first. Note that the code is open source if you would like to make improvements.
- Michael R. Bernstein
Can I pull the source from a repository?
- Yu-Jie Lin
OK, so to date, no one has expressed much interest in the source. I haven't put these projects up on a project-hosting site largely because my favorite one (Google Code Project Hosting) won't accept AGPL-licensed code. And I haven't found a second choice I like. Do you have any preference?
- Michael R. Bernstein
I absolutely hate all the SF-derived sites, including Savannah.
- Michael R. Bernstein
Launchpad is a possibility. Strange I hadn't considered them for this. Hmm.
- Michael R. Bernstein
Is there any reason that you have to license under AGPL? I like Google Code's interface.
- Yu-Jie Lin
Curious as to why you don't like SFesque sites? and AGPL is a necessity because?
- Itachi
@Schadenfreude, I don't like SF, either... it looks so complicated.
- Yu-Jie Lin
Schadenfreude, the design and organization of SF gives me hives. And AGPL is the license I've chosen to release my code under.
- Michael R. Bernstein
It doesn't work on my Firefox 3.6 beta/Mac. Don't know why. It does work on Safari.
- Meryn Stol
Meryn, do you have Flash blocked? The app uses a small flash file as a proxy to get around same origin policy for XMLHTTPRequest (necessary to set up the XMPP PubSub subscriptions).
- Michael R. Bernstein
Michael, yes I have Flashblock installed. Butt for Safari I have "ClickToFlash" (which does about the same) so I thought it couldn't be that. Seemingly the flash file you use gets through ClickToFlash's filter. You could consider showing a notification if flash isn't loading right.
- Meryn Stol
The flash file is inserted dynamically, and isn't visible in any case.
- Michael R. Bernstein
Your request for user notification is well taken though. Thanks!

"We’ve completely rewritten Notify 2.0, and added a crapton (Yes, that is a valid unit of measure) of new features. Hence, why it is now 2.0, and not 1.1."

Minimalist, simple and beautiful. But I´m not entirely convinced actually. There´s also the Herald plugin for Mail.app... hm... Akiva ? Thoughts ?
- Thomas Bøhm
I think it's mainly geared for people who use a website to get to their mail and thus don't get notifications of new e-mail. I can see myself paying for the Pro version.
- Akiva Moskovitz
I´m just afraid I´m going to miss out on some integration in the OS by not using Mail.app (because Notify effectively replaces Mail.app as opposed to Herald which is just a HUD). But Gmail is just fine from everywhere else than my mac so I don´t know what I´m worried about. I´m just getting old I guess. I really like the handiness and small footprint of Notify (even though the fact that...

Finally we're able to use G4Apps, too. Thanks a lot guys
- Ozkan Altuner
I had to give up on Mail.app once I switched to Google Apps. Postbox and now Thunderbird 3 better support the Gmail approach toward mail handling than Mail.app does. However, I've mainly been using the website even though I don't like it much. Either way, I think that Notify is a valuable addition no matter what your client is.
- Akiva Moskovitz
Ozkan, that's exactly what I've been waiting for myself.

Ben gmail kurdum denemek için.. beğendim de.. Ancak contactlist'in ezberinde olmaması kötü.. Günlük kullanımı engeller. Kendi üzerine yazılan adresleri ezberliyor ama eskiler yok ortada doğol olarak..

Please keep comments in the same language as the post. Thanks. That said, I understand the enthusiasm. I got to say that Notify really grows on me after using it for a day. Are there other similar lightweight menu bar email clients ?

"Evincii's new Pickka Med app is designed to function like an "expert pharmacist in your pocket," where people are able not only to search by phone for the best over-the-counter FDA-approved medicine in any given participating pharmacy but in the process avoid touching all the germ-addled bottles lining the shelves of the one place where sick people invariably shop."

Yesterday we released the full-featured version of the Snippets. You are welcome to read the blog post describing ground features of our application: http://www.snippetsapp.com/blog... Thanks!
The prototype takes design inspiration from flower petals and moonlights both as a solar charger and an iPhone stand as the device has been hinged by designer Mac Funamizu.

With multiple windows and applications all vying for our attention, we have sadly adapted our working habits to that of the computer and not the other way around. The new NASA iPhone app means that even when you are away from your computer (or telescope), you can gawk at nebulas and sunspots. NASA’s image-of-the-day and astronomy-photo-of-the-day collections are right there in searchable thumbnail grids. (We like the “nebula” and “mass ejection” searches.) Plus, you can e-mail or save them to your phone. It’s hard to think of a better way to get nerdy/sublime backgrounds than this app.
