Over the past few weeks we’ve open-sourced quite a few official client libraries for the Tumblr API. Today I’m proud to announce the Tumblr iOS SDK, an Objective-C library for easily integrating Tumblr data into your iOS (or OS X) applications, however you see it.

The Tumblr SDK for iOS contains a few different components to start:
Authentication (OAuth and xAuth implementations) A full wrapper around all of our API endpoints Inter-app communication (this is pretty limited at the moment but we plan to expand it quite a bit going forward) A UIActivity stub for easy inclusion of a Tumblr button in a standard Apple UIActivityViewController
We’ve been using this SDK in production for quite some time now and are thrilled to finally be able to share it with you.

If you’re interested in integrating with Tumblr on iOS or OS X in a way that the SDK doesn’t currently facilitate, please get in touch. I’m very interested in hearing any and all feedback on how we can make this as easy as possible.

NYC to install touchscreen subway kiosks with directions, schedules, real-time alerts

Later this year, New York City will begin installing interactive “On The Go” subway kiosks that will assist tourists in getting from station to station. The 47-inch touchscreen displays will be encased in ruggedized steel and placed (in pairs, more often than not) throughout the city. Tapping any subway station will immediately chart out the best route of getting there, and the kiosks — designed in conjunction with Control Group — will count down to a train’s arrival and list any delays or outages commuters should be aware of. A digital content loop (likely to include plenty of advertising) will also be displayed.

Hope these are out for my trip in June. Very awesome.

I know some of you have been waiting for my thoughts on Dropbox acquiring Mailbox — my apologies, I’ve been sidetracked by SXSW SARS. I also realize I still need to write my longer thoughts about how Mailbox changed my email habits. For now, let me just congratulate the Mailbox team. They built something truly amazing and I could not be happier that the product will continue to live on and grow under the wings of Dropbox.

Many of you know how excited I’ve been about Mailbox over the past several months — and not just as an investor, but as a user. Email has been so broken for so long and these guys were the first ones really thinking outside the — sorry — box. So the success they’ve seen could not be any less surprising. I think Dropbox was very savvy to make this move and I think it seems like a great fit. Now get me a damn iPad client.

Ditto on the iPad client. Maybe a desktop one as well??
